I was on it too! Ahead in two rounds, never locked in a win though and spun three bankrupts! Got a years supply of Prince Matchabelli aftershave for my efforts. Erine would stand on a box (you can see him jumping up onto it as he arrives on set). Good times. Five shows shot in one afternoon. I could be seen mouthing "ohh F*%k" when I rolled a bankrupt. My Dad accidentally taped over the tape of that episode. :(
The show was produced in Adelaide when it started in 1981, and stayed there until it relocated to Sydney in 1996. It was originally shot at the ADS studios, and relocated to the SAS ones when the stations switched callsigns in late 1987.
OMG! I've been looking for an old Aussie Wheel episode for a long time, and this is wonderful that you were able to put one up with yourself as a contestant!
1984...this must have been shortly before Ernie was replaced by some guy named Burgo. Also, for those unaware, the two scoreboards represent different things. The top scoreboard is the contestant's overall total, while the bottom scoreboard shows their "currently available" money. If the two scores are the same, then that means that the player has not yet solved a puzzle.
Thanks for the upload Carts, great to finally see an ep of the old Aussie wheel w/ Ernie. Interesting that the dollar amounts were so low compared to the later stages of the show. But I don't get why they ddnt let you keep ur prizes if u dont win the show back then. O_o. LOL R for Reversable.
Imagine sitting a bunch of 2022 wokesters down in a studio strapping them to their seats and playing this on repeat for them..within 3 mins Ernie has thrown out more mysoginistic insults then an entire College Frat boy club
In the Australian version of Wheel, the money contestants land on don't multiply the correct letter found. Unlike our American Wheel, the other two players still has money in their bank as long as they don't hit Bankrupt.
@andrewzur Ernie wasn't drunk, he's just "down to earth" "Congrats"? wasn't very difficult to solve so i can't really accept but thanks anyway All Power to the Wheel!
Burgo in fact wasn’t Seven’s first choice as replacement either. They wanted to make John Deeks the new host, but was prevented from taking it up due to his commitments as announcer for “The Price Is Right”.
She was normal, I didn't get to talk to her but you can see Ernie and I laughing - he told me we could see her breasts - but I couldn't get a glimpse She has a breakdown later - must be the pressure of "The Wheel" Wheel of Fortune for World Peace
A column in Melbourne’s “Age” newspaper following Tony Barber’s fake “resignation” reported that a handful at Seven were considering Ernie Sigley as the new host when it was clear that they couldn’t get Burgo back. There’s no way Ernie would been able to host the Wheel in 1997 the same way he did in the 80s. The rest however is history.
Rest in Peace Mr.Sigley.
Your sense of humour will be greatly missed.
Australia certainly needs it right now in 2021.

The general manager at my work would be a good host if they bring back wheel of fortune as he has a personality like Ernie Sigley.
Just heard news that Adriana Xenides passed away earlier today. R.I.P.
This guy is no Chuck Woolery.

LOL! Ernie mustve imagined it!
Yes it was in Deadalaide on Ch 7 before SAS changed
@ChavoMysterio Since consonants are paid at a flat rate, and considering the wedge values, the cost of vowels is only $50.
Hi. On this video, how much does it cost to buy a vowel? Is it the usual flat fee of $250?

This was from the same year he replaced john Burgess
@andrewzur Ernie wasn't drunk, he's just "down to earth"
"Congrats"? wasn't very difficult to solve so i can't really accept but thanks anyway
All Power to the Wheel!
Ernie died on 15th august 2021 of Alzheimer's disease and Adriana died well before that in 2010 i believe
After Tony Barber, Rob Eliott took over, followed by Steve Oemcke (the worst host of the lot), and then Larry Emdur for the show's final six months.
She was semi-awake
What country is this one from?
Australia
thanks for the comment but I am not "hot"
I have a question: Was Marion awake? Picking a K first, and then repeating your R guess...
@mewtwo77 yes i was lucky to get an easy one
i don't know, well not this episode anyway
Life is strange sometimes
Lol comments like that in 2018 you'd be sued and broke
First 5 minutes; Ernie yapping on like a cringe worthy knob end!!
what was Adriana like?
ahh u are dude
I wasnt born - but I reckon he just left hence Burgo taking over

No offence to Ernie, but his behaviour and overall demeanour is cringeworthy, especially in those first 5 minutes! Just get on with the game already!
