Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen,
Tod und Verzweiflung flammet um mich her!
Fühlt nicht durch dich Sarastro Todesschmerzen,
So bist du mein- meine Tochter nimmermehr:
    Verstossen sei auf ewig,
    Verlassen sei auf ewig,
    Zertrümmert sei'n auf ewig
    Alle Bande der Natur.
Wenn nicht durch dich Sarastro wird erblassen!
Hört, Rachegötter, hört der Mutter Schwur!!!
    ....
Hell's vengeance boils in my heart,
Death and despair blaze about me!
If Sarastro does not through you feel the pains of death,
Then you will be my daughter nevermore:
    Disowned be you forever,
    Abandoned be you forever,
    Destroyed be forever
    All the bonds of nature.
If not through you Sarastro will turn pale!
Hear, gods of revenge, hear the mother's oath!!!

Absolutely stunning performance from Lucie. Košice is a beautiful city, so there are two reasons to visit if you haven't been there yet.

Wow, this is the 2nd time in as many days that I've heard the upper octave version, when i'd never heard it before. Is it a alternate 'ossia' that Mozart write in the part? Or just a performance practice that sopranos sometimes do?
Thus was a fabulous performance. The 16ths leading uo to the staccato high notes were so clear!
    Thank you for posting!

In Mozart's time, singers often added variations according to their technical capabilities. There were also a few rules, such as not repeating the same note twice in a row, even though it was written that way. Specifically, in The Magic Flute, there is only the role of Pamina, which includes small ornamentations that were written directly by Mozart. The first representative of Pamina was very young and did not have enough experience yet, so Mozart "helped her". He expected the other singers to naturally add small ornaments themselves.
The added high F is one option that works in this tradition, but I personally think that this spectacular aria does not need to be improved in any way. But it was an experiment and fun too to try this version, but I normally prefer the pure Mozart version as you can see in my other videos from other theatres.🎉

Wow. Great energy. And those extra notes. Brava. Might be my player, but some sharp notes? But better sharp than flat. ♥️

EXCELLENT!!! So good to hear a Dramatic Coloratura do this aria, instead of "Chirping canary " type coloratura! Your voice gives the role some substance! Also nice to actually hear each individual 16th notes in in those turns! That rarely happens with other singers! THANK YOU!!

Lower this 2 octaves and it's manageable. 👍

I agree The Queen of the Night should be sung with a powerful dramamtic colouratura not a light weight lyric.

Do you really feel that Mozart's music needs this type of "improvement"? This is more like Chinese acrobatics......

    • @kankova_soprano
      @kankova_soprano  Před 10 měsíci +11

No, I do not feel that Mozart needs any improvement. It was a wish of the conductor so I did it once. The original version is surely better and purer.
