I think you can see why this particular style is so rarely revived. Mid to late 1940s, late 1980s, and I think that it is it so far. It can be carried off by tall, slim, men and is very unflattering on everyone else. See also, ponchos and culottes (women), Windsor knots and three quarter length trousers (men); special circle in Hell reserved for all of those fashions.
