People often ask about how much did Kurri benefit of having Gretzky as a linemate? My answer is, not any more than Gretzky of having Kurri as a linemate.
Kimmo: That is total bs. According to Gretzky he would have never broken so many records without Kurri. After Gretzky was sold to La, Kurri still made over 100 points in Edmonton.
What is overlooked about Jari is that he had an all-around game. Very responsible defensively, killed penalties, and didn’t take a lot of penalties either. He helped prevent goals just as he scored them, and it was because of his and the Oilers’ offensive talents that he was unjustly overlooked for the Selke award
I agree, a very under-rated and phenomenal player. He had the speed skill set, work ethic and the athleticism to play on a team that I consider to be The Greatest Hockey Team ever. Although Sporting News said that The 1976-1977 Montreal Canadiens are the Greatest Hockey Team ever.
Ovi who? Kurri was a complete player, strong at both ends of the Ice and doesn’t have to stand at the left circle dot all the time on the PP to get his goals.
Come on, you know that's bullshit. The Soviet Union league was not that bad it was on pretty much the same talent level as the NHL(at some point even better). If you remember any of the super series, especially the rendez-vous '87. The rendez-vous '87 was a two-game series in which the soviets won one game as did the nhl all-stars, In total goals the soviets even beat the NHL all-stars 8-7. It really wasn't just a shitty league, it was a really good league, though nothing beats today's NHL.
Gretzky and kurri was best duo on points in nhl ever

Kurri went to Italy for one whole season just for his family, probably just in his best scoring time.
Kurri is the best European so far. Proud to be Finn :)
Kurri is one of the greatest player for finnish ice hockey history!
He would be on my Mount Rushmore of Ice Hockey Players from Finland!
Meine Hochachtung vor Jari Kurri!
Remember The Titans - Trevor Rabin - Titans Spirit (Score)

Kurri Rules. #17 Forever!!
Kurri won a cup without Gretzky, Gretzky didn't without Kurri. But I still think Gretzky is greatest of all time.
That's stupid. The cup was won by Edmonton.
Nordens bästa,,i
how old he was whe he retired
He was 38
@Superpizzabros Somewhat true, but I would put Jagr ahead of him.
He probably ment it as in stats; Jagr 8th overall, Selänne 19th, Kurri 20th.
@FFJabarr He IS better... I dunno, they're from different eras.
@karieero57 then messier on his left
