    Definitely learned something new! Thanks to Tom. I believe I met him in person one time when my 6lpa had service. This video will also win a prize for most diversified content - You in chilling Dubai and Tom in cold Norway working on a sail drive. It's like two plants.

      You should stop by the shop one day, Andreas☕️! He will probably remember your engine better than your face, but that’s just the way his mind works😉. I’m not shy on excepting prizes, so bring em on.

    "Use the gear stick like you treat your wife. Tenderness and love" best line ever. I'm jealous you are in Dubia. Cheers🍻

      Haha! Glad you noticed that one. I’ve heard him say that in person a few times to customers and it’s really fun to see their reaction. It’s like they can’t really compute what he actually said😂

    Thanks for that video , i definitely have to do mine, it just started slipping and becomes hard to go in and out of gear... On this model there are no oil plug , how do you chek the oil level ?

    • @SaltyMechanicsJunior
      @SaltyMechanicsJunior  Před měsícem

      Thank you for commenting👌There is normally an oil dipstick on top of the sail drive. A yellow cap. If not it can be just a nut that you have to use a tool to get open. There is a dipstick at the end of it.

    Hi Tom, can you give me some advice qbout which Yanmar should I install in my C&C 41 Redline MKII 1971 9 ton sailboat Currently I have a Perkins 4-107 🤔😊🖐 and how is a saildrive on salt water...

      Hello! I will forward you’re questions to mr Tom and get back to you! He is more analog than digital, so don’t think he will see this message here on CZcams 😅! Welcome to our channel and thanks for you comment ❤️mr Salty

      According to your information you have a Perkins 4107. It was produced from 1972-74. Perkins have not produced engines with sail drive from that time. I therefore assume you have a normal gear box with straight propeller shaft. You can never convert a hull from gear box to sail drive without a major rebuild. Your second question;sail drive is made for salt water. Yanmar has engines with gear box you can use. Tom 👍

    This one yanmar sd40 right ?
    Can i know what the propeller size or the number ?

    • @SaltyMechanicsJunior
      @SaltyMechanicsJunior  Před rokem

      Hey😉I never knew the size of the Propeller. It depends on engine type and the boat, so it’s something that we always have to look in to if necessary. And yes, you’re right.. it was the SD 40 drive from yanmar. 👍
