Correction, rewind is available on PS4, you just need to turn on enhancement in the emulator setting.
In exchange the performance might drop down on the PS4 version which is why it's turned off by default. I know for the base model not sure about the pro models

Sure, the game itself is as good as when it released, but It's totally expectable for them to fix the few issues the game had if they want to charge money for a re-release. I understand wanting to support the game and franchise, but no need to dickride completely either.
It's rated 4.96 atm, I'm not suprise this imo is the greatest trilogy, each game gets better! Story n combat wise!. Sly 3 is the best cuz it again just added more n made it better. I never beat the game sadly....that rooster with the bamboo man.....
I played on PS5 and my friend played on PS4. We both noticed some audio stuttering during cutscenes. Regardless I am very happy to be able to play it on a modern platform

Sly Cooper has been my top PlayStation Hero, the one that felt unique to me. So when I heard the first Sly game ALONE was now on Ps4 and 5? I wishlisted that in a heartbeat. Flaws aside, I'm not complaining, I'm happy I'll get to play my favorite of the trilogy on a modern console. My PlayStation Library will feel complete!
I think you're the first person I've seen say that the first one is their favourite, which is interesting 👍 Personally I think 3 is my favourite but I love them all just as much, even the fourth one, for as divisive that one was.

Approaching 32 and I’m still stoked to play Sly. I keep coming back to it every couple of years along with the sequels for almost 20 years now. I adore that they added new trophies and didn’t just tack on the same ones from the remastered trilogy.

I heard that "Cooper" is a slur, an insult, and a heavy one at that, in the UK. That, supposedly, is the reason the game's name was changed in PAL territories. Can anyone confirm this? Like I said, it is all hearsay.....

If they have relaunched the first Sly, I imagine that Sly 2 and Sly 3 will arrive in the following months. The trophies are the same as the PS3 Remastered version of both Sly Raccoon and Tomb Raider Legend.
The bad thing is that there is no screen option like on PS1 and PSP, you cannot stretch the screen so that it takes up the entire screen and you have to play with black bands.

More options are probably coming, the emulator has come a long way and it's pretty awesome.

@@Alex-ex8ob I don't like playing with black bands even if they put a frame on it, I prefer a stretched screen to play it full screen.
The first PS2 games on PS4/PS5, for example the Jak and Daxter collection, automatically had full screen by default and not these options that the emulator now has, they should have done that directly.
I would personally prefer if they put some sly art in those black bars so that it at least uses them.
@@javierdelosriossamperio2325The thing is you're quite literally distorting the image when you stretch it, meaning what was once a perfect circle is now an oval, for example.
I respect it and think the option should be there but definitely not by default. I personally can't wrap my head around the "obsession" for using up the entirety of a given screen when the black bars are the equivalent of screen space that simply didn't exist on old TV's.
Widescreen hacks are a different story (even though 2D elements remain stretched, and often you might encounter glitches caused by seeing parts of the screen you weren't supposed to)

That's correct. The only games that are streaming only are PS3-format games

From what I heard, what the Enhancements options do is that they both disable the visual filters and the Rewind feature altogether. This applies to both the PS4 and PS5 versions of these ports.

I like that they are making this version more widely available. The whole point of game preservation is to ensure that all versions of a game are always out there for people who want to play them. I beat the first game on PS2 and only played a bit of the HD release - I prefer the PS2 version.
I love sly cooper. Just platinumed it. Hope the release 2 and 3 soon. I did miss the hd remaster quality but i still enjoyed it.
I never played any of the Sly games until the HD Collection came out and I instantly became a fan.
Playing the original PS2 version now, i can see that some aspects are dated like the camera controls, but honestly, i think this is a great start to the PS2 Emulation on the PS5, hopefully this continues and we get to see the rest of the Sly games and many more added to the PS2 Library. I hope they add Ape Escape 2 and 3 on there at some point 🤞
I know Ape Escape 2 is available as a PS4 game but it doesn't work properly on the PS5 for some reason

Funny timing as well given an indie game "Glyde the Dragon" just released a HUGE demo which has a character voiced by the Sly Cooper Voice actor Kevin Miller! This may be a good chance for me to try the Sly Cooper series since I never played them before.

They’re bringing Daxter to the ps4, and ps5 at the end of this month so fingers crossed they will.
They were released on PS4 so just buy them.
CORRECTION: The rewind feature IS on PS4, just not by default. You have to turn it on at the emulator pause screen, which you can do mid-game. In fact the PS4 has all the emulator bonus features that PS5 has.

I am excited too. I prefer Sly 2 and 3 over the original.
The PS4 version, because the framerate is unlocked but still capped to 30, the Mz.Ruby fight goes a lot faster than the soundtrack does and it still causes major issues. I didn't have this issue on the PS5 version because the more frames actually made the game slower and allowed for it to work. People saying that we have to 5 star this are stupid, it really isn't deserving of that. Instead what people should do is give their honest opinions and criticisms. I'm tired of eating shit with every franchise that I love.
5 star = more effort put into it to fix it or make it better, or potentially even continuing the series, screw your honest reviews.
i bought it and its really solid.
ive played all versions side by side and yes hd collection looks better but it has not the bugs that the hd collection has and it looks better than on ps2

Sly 2 will likely come next month with another Tomb Raider game. We’re even getting Daxter and Lego Star Wars 2 (PSP) in 4 days

4:57: I always have muscle memory issues at first when playing some of the Ps1, PsP and Ps2 games on Ps5 for some reason if it's been awhile, anyone else?
As far as I can say on my experience on Sly Cooper, my first time was on the HD Collection through PS Now before it was converted into PS Plus, and there were times where I was not having fun as even one drop in internet connection would make the PS Now unstable. I enjoyed the games, but I opted to try to get the originals as soon as possible, so far I only have Sly 3 (I'd also received the Greatest Hits Ps2 version of R&C Going Commando at that time too, Ratchet's in-game grunts come from a different language in that release of the game which I find kind of amusing) and it was infinitely better to play on original hardware than on PS Now.
I played it on the PS4. I never realized that the Miss Ruby section was sped up. that explains why it was so difficult even though I was 22.

The enhancements option is actually what enables rewind it doesnt do anything else
5:23 you know since the old controls came first before the new controls. are old inverted controls really inverted or did we invert them later on and the new controls are inverted controls.
I like to call normal "character view" and inverted "camera view". Push right in normal, and the character looks right. Push right in inverted, the camera swings right.
Sick, I'm glad it's more accessible now! I can find any PS2 Jak game in a retro shop, Ratchet is a bit less common but I see 2 and 3 all the time. Sly though? ELUSIVE, I have only ever seen the first game once in local retro shops.
I hope the other 2 classics also get released like this, I'm glad this is emulated and not poorly ported. I'd PREFER a native port but I'm glad whoever did this one went with emulation, probably a very low budget project so I'm glad they didn't go overboard and try porting it only to run out of money and half-ass it.

Those games do not need rewind! Jak 2 is tough, but its only a couple missions (the protect the sages one, the one where you have to fight your way back in the slums)

R&C 1 is only harder than the others because theres no strafing and you can run out of ammo easier.

The Sly Games has been my favorites since I was a kid. Still playing the trilogy to this day, at least once or twice a year 🙏🏼

this sets a good standard that they chose to add a game that technically is already playable on ps5. ive played a lot of the jak and ratchet remasters on ps3 and vita but i would really appreciate an original port that runs natively on these newer systems. i was worried sony would believe streaming the ps3 collections was good enough.

Kind of a weird issue, but if you play the PAL version, the "Oh No He Didn't!" Trophy is bugged. If you're a Trophy Hunter, don't play PAL first, because your save doesn't carry over to the NTSC version.
On that note, PAL does have the anime version of the "Ten Seconds" cutscene, which the NTSC version doesn't have.

I platinumed it as soon as it came out. I did the PS4 version on my PS5, gonna do the PS5 version sometime next week since I'm doing Tomb Raider Legend right now.
I just found out that the trophies that tell you to complete a level without doing this or by doing this, you can simply leave and the trophy triggers. They should patch that. Other than that, the game plays well.
Could you explain what you mean by simply leaving? Like do you mean just returning to the title screen?

PS5 player here. Gotta say, I think the faster running is on there too. I had no issues with Mz. Ruby, but it felt like Muggshot was reading my mind with how fast he moved and turned. Other than that, fully agree.
As a music person I noticed that on the PS3 version in the Boss Fight against Ms. Ruby you have to go *against* the beats now aaah 🤣this really bothered me as a musician haha.
It accidentally defeated the point of the fight which was always making you move in time to the beat in order to beat her. Now you have to move at slightly askew timing to the beat to succeed. At first I though I was crazy so I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed! I hope the music timing is restored in the newer PS4 or PS5 version although it sounds like it's the same?
I always really appreciated that the level taught you the correct musical timing. 🎶💚

The others could only be accessed temporarily through a play wall as far as I'm aware
Dunno if the orginal ps2 version did this also but in this port at least all references to ips like crash bandicoot or any movie is bleeped out in the commentary tracks for levels
You hit the nail on the head for what I'd like to see Added/Improved with the overall Emulation, and in general it's more than acceptable and am enjoying revisiting the game for the millionth time (worried about the Time Trials though, never beat them before and they seem stupidly hard imo 😅 I'll do it though... I need Plat. 3 & 4 damn it 😂)
Star Wars the Clone Wars is a decent game if you like vehicle-based combat. I remember playing it a lot back in the PS2 era along with Star Wars Battlefront II. It's definitely not the best game and I remember it had some really annoying features in it but it was a decent game and it had a lot of replayability.
I'm seriously surprised they dropped this game and probably because I don't have any form of social media😅 but I'm glad they did.
Also I'm guessing that they will in fact at least Sly Cooper 2 and 3. I played the first lie back on the PS2 two times but I've never played any other game in the franchise. However can we talk about how good the price range is for these games. If you're looking to buy the Star Wars game in Sly Cooper it comes to $14.98, and that is splendid. I haven't really been invested in modern gaming lately and I've been trying to find games that hook me so finding out these games got released was so good.

My experience on PS5 has been pretty good, actually. It's nice to actually play the base game on updated hardware with hardly any hiccups. It always goes without saying, you usually want to play on original hardware or community made fixes on emulator, but in a world where old hardware is harder to get, and we all know the harsh reality of actually emulating, this is nice to have.
For a company made emulator, the $10 price tag is very reasonable and I happily paid for it.
If I didn't already have this on PS3, I would've gotten this in a heartbeat. Another thing worth noting- most ps2 emulators have RetroAchievements support and I'm pretty sure Sly would be one of the games to have a healthy list of things to do for those who don't mind creating an account and setting all of that up.
I've always wondered how things would look if Sly 1-3 having the "Thieves in Time" engine
It would look dated seeing that engine is over a decade old now.
One thing to note, from someone who just double-platinum'd this: one of the trophies won't pop if you're playing the PAL (European) version of the game, so it's best played on the American regional setting.
The Classic Arcade filter is now my preferred way to play the game by far. I was gonna replay sly 2 after I platted this one, but I’m waiting for the PS5 version. Filter really makes the colors pop and atmospheric

Was Thieves in Time not released after the Sly Collection on PS VITA? I still have both of those titles and my PS3, absolutely stellar games.
Playing it on Ps4. So far is quite the good experience. Also its worth it by the fact that we can do screenshots and video clips alone which wasn't possible at least on PS4 with the HD collection being streaming only.

Decided to try the PS4 version of this one out on me PS5 and...man, the save states are buggy as heck, game crashed once when I tried using it in Decent Into Danger, however whilst trying to show off the developer commentaries in, the game crashed again in Two To Tango. At that point, I've learned to give the PS5 versions a shot first before PS4, since I only did so for the trophies.
But yeah! Pretty thrilling to see retro gaming make a return in the modern market once again! This isn't a new release for the series, but really, it doesn't have to be to keep Sly relevant. I'm sure we'll get a new game one day for Sly, don't know what it would end up being, but hopefully it won't be a Sly 5. 💀
Bought it day one. Beat it 100% and got the trophies. I showed my trophy lists to Sucker Punch as they requested on X. I hope we get Sly 2, 3, and Thieves in Time too.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. They need to put the ratchet trilogy on PS5 with the same treatment as this and the other PS2 games emulated. Out of sly, jak, and ratchet I’ve always leaned more to ratchet so seeing the og PS2 trilogy and deadlocked would blow my mind.

It definitely is, especially the multiplayer.
Man I just beat this game on PS5 and for the first time beat all the Sprints. Might maybe, but definitely was because of the rewind feature lol but regardless, I beat the Sprint challenges. Also got all the trophies in just 2 days cause yes, I have played this game for many times over the past 20+ years. I think I might like it lol.
Considering how Crash was put on all consoles (even though it was not the original), I hope one day Sly can be on Xbox.
The rewind function is on ps4 its just defaulted to enhancements off which adds rewind and if you turn it on the ps4 version is slower and choppier than the ps5 version
I had no problems. I don't know if it's the TV or not. I have a TV that supports HDMI 2.1 with VRR at 120hz.

Since I’d prefer, if Sly made a comeback through the trilogy doing well to resolve the cliffhanger 4 did. At any rate, I very disagree with just assuming a game will be bad.

The reason I said it was dead on arrival wasn't because the series isn't that popular, I think Sly 5 is narratively dead on arrival. I truly believe Sly 4 is one of the worst plots I have ever seen and the horrendous ending is only the cherry on top. I don't really care to see it resolved, because there aren't that many ways to resolve it that produce a natural sequel that adds anything meaningful to the franchise beyond making another one, just for the sake of making another one. I just don't need to see another time travel adventure to rescue Sly from the time stream with Penelope on the loose as the main villain, I just think it all sucks. I prefer to see Sly has a trilogy that ended when it needed to.
I mean, fair enough. Agree to disagree since I’ve seen terrible writing followed up with considerably better writing. Sonic Frontiers after the era of overly jokey stuff Colors started, to be, is enough that I think they could pull it off.
