    OK, aint gonna sugar coat it. I just finished this job on my 4.3ltr S10. It's a bear. Forget put pulley in the sun or heat gun. Use a propane torch. But first, get a large pair of vise grips and grind them down so that they are slightly thinner than the hub. You have to be able to grip hub but still have a small clearance for tool to get flush with shaft/outer edge of hub. Heat hub for 4-5 minutes. Get a good grip (not extreme) on the hub with V Grips. Find a pipe to put on thumb screw of vice grips for cheater bar purpose (I used a hyd bottle jack handle). Use large adjustable wrench (Crescent) on large nut on collar of install tool. Wear gloves. Never would have believed it would go on harder than it came off but got it. A few teeth marks on hub but strap wrench I had was too small and don't know if it would have held anyway. Geez. Good Luck.

      @@xesberto937 Yeah, sorry. That was 3 years ago and I remember it fought all the way, but I can't figure out what I was talking about in what I wrote either.
      The jist is, when installing the PS pump pulley. Heat the center hub of the pulley, I tried a heat gun but it didn't get it, use a propane torch. But before you start, go through the whole process in your mind and have all your tools at the ready. Seriously, take a dry run before you heat it. When you take it off the heat you have to move fast. You have to be able to screw down the install tool but not have the pump turn. It's like trying to wash 3 cats at one time and 1 of them will burn the shit out of you if you touch it all while applying about 125ftlbs of torque. All while standing with your head upside down. Make sure you have your light situated just right so you can see well while doing this., you don't have time to go chasing it if you knock it down. Make sure it's out of the way and secure. Thick welding gloves, safety glasses and all the determination and umph you can muster. Good Luck Alberto. Lemme know how it goes.

The pulley is flushed to make ends meet, and I don't understand why it's doing that. I had a coolant leak previously and fixed that last week, yet it still wobbles a bit and squeaks/chirps. I don't understand how the bolt and nut tool install both are right hand, some times the power strering shaft start rotarig when the pressure resistance between the shaft and pulley is grater than the torque on the bolt screwed in the shaft. For me the best tool should be one end rh thread bolt and the other end lh thread with the rh thread nut. Just saying

      @TonyoTorres Před 7 lety

      Sorry LH THREAD NUT

    • @SI0AX
      @SI0AX Před 7 lety +2

      I know what you mean!! I thought the stud was left hand thread and the nut was right hand. I would just end up unscrewing the stud or making the pulley turn. The way I solved this was to grip the pulley wyth my hand, turn the stud till it would reach the end, then ignore it and just turn the nut with a long wrench in yanking motions while gripping the pulley hard with the other hand.
      Eventually you'll get to the point where you don't have enough grip strength to keep the pulley from turning, but by that time the pulley will be in enough where you can put the belt on all the pulleys and the tensioner will keep the PS pulley from moving and you can finish the job with much less stress!

    Why in the world are you using a pneumatic ratchet ?
    Then, we see you using a flex-ratchet ?
    Neither of these two ratchets are the "proper" tool to be using IMHO.
    A straight ratchet (on swivel or flex) would be the preferred tool.
    This video shows the basic procedure, but I'm experiencing something not covered here.
    My pump shaft keeps turning while I'm ratcheting my installation bolt (Installing the pulley) and this causes my installation bolt to unthread from the shaft, prior to the pulley being fully pressed on.
    Anyone else have this issue ?
    Thanks for the video dude.
