I've used smart watches for about 8 years. I don't really pay attention to heart rate but it helps me remember what categories I've done at the gym and what I should do. The skin irritation is because a lot of people suffucate the skin by wearing it too tight. Often it could help if you swap out the silicone bands to something that breathes a bit more (I've worked in a tech store and sold wearebles, I've helped many)
Interesting topic. I’m considering moving from a Fitbit to a withings for semi-similar reasons. I don’t use all the features, I mostly like to count steps, so having something that looks more like a regular watch is quite attractive to me. I’d probably rarely open the app and just look at the step counting circle.
I am currently waiting my Scanwatch Horizon to arrive. As any other I also had a number of smart watches including From Samsung and Apple. What I did on those watches were mainly two, seeing time and getting notifications. I could not do anything on the small screen other than those. But I could not go back to normal automatic or quartz watches, I need something else. Hopefully, Scanwatch Horizon would stay longer on my wrist
Had a similar experience with Samsung/Apple. I'm looking for something to primarily check time and get notifications. How is your experience with the Scanwatch going??
@@alymenbr I have had a Scanwatch Horizon for about 4 months. It works fine. With one full charge, it lasts about 25 days. Sometimes email notification does not show the subject line, but at least I get notified. Other notifications, it works fine. Previously, I had a hybrid smartwatch with e-ink display. I did not like that, the words displayed on the screen were quite dark and unreadable with my aging eyes. I love my Scanwatch Horizon and I hope it will not betray me ;)
@@johnpark9742 How's it going for you these days? I've got a Steel HR and I been considered getting either a Garmin Venu 2 Plus (supposedly 9 days battery) for more accuracy or go with the Scanwatch Horizon as well
@@Mordotz Hi, I do not know about the accuracy. I actually did not care about the accuracy, I just wanted a nice hybrid where I get notifications and I could read notifications on the watch as I have aging eyes. It works perfectly. I had previously smart watches including a hybrid with eInk technology. Scanwatch has backlit display, I think it is more readable than eInk display. I did not like smartwatches as I could not do much on the small displays. My Horizon looks good and I charge that about 1 or 2 hours every 3 weeks.
Well I'm currently waiting for mine to arrive and for a brief time I was dreading to watch your video! 😂 Thankfully I still think I've made the best choice I could for a discounted price. I'm not an apple user and don't actually want a Smart watch as such, as my phone does pretty all I need. So although your points were valid for you and I understand & even agree with 1 or 2 of your points, luckily I'm no longer clutching at my hair thinking "why tf have I wasted £200 on a watch?!" 😂 Enjoyed your vids btw. 👍
selling my withings too as i have ordered a Garmin venu 2 plus too often the Garmin said it was too noisy when i tried to do a manual ecg scan although it did detect when i was having afib automatically
The reason i have a watch like this i as follows : In my country you have a health insurance which covers the basics.. I can imagine that this will change in the future.. a watch like this is not a bad proof that you are taking care of your body, inb case the health insurance wants to avoid paying a bill... at the moment its not the case, b ut i can imagine this will come in the future
Man, you sold it AND are no longer using it ?-) Apart from that, you're perfectly right; noone needs stats for feeling good about sports. For some, it's a good motivator to collect sports sessions, but really, I think you're actually on the right track listening to your body.
I feel so relieved to know I'm not the only person who thinks just this way. To me these watches are totally useless when I think about it logically however im still searching for that perfect solar watch 😁. Thank you so much for sharing your honest experience.
I like Scanwatch because it can always just be a watch.

Can't relate. I don't even look at my watch until after I'm done exercising.
I wish that was the case for me!

Have you found a smart watch with ECG capability that let’s you use it in flight mode / no Bluetooth active on the actual device ?
There is no flight mode on this watch, it doesn’t connect to the internet, so it works even on a plane.
@@MonikaOlivia I understand, thank you for the answer. I’m more concerned about the Bluetooth emf continuously being emitted
Do you need withings + subscription for the data to be recorded?
Really good points...
Thanks
What are your thoughts? ✨
You have to measure something to know, as we say in Dutch.
