For anyone curious if these zombies are getting smarter or become self aware, the answer is no. The one who spoke is a human wearing the walkers skin called a Whisper. Whispers control a horde like cattle and lead them where their boss wants them. They use the hordes to take out other settlements and any of their enemies. They are probably the biggest threat to others who are just trying to live.

Definitely hands down my favorite episode from seasons 9-11, the whole thing has this night-of-the-living-dead vibe with fog everywhere and most of it taking place at night and it introduces the whisperers in such a terrifying way. A rare thing of beauty when everything kind of started to fall off.

Tom Payne hated playing Jesus, he was familiar with the comics and a big fan of them and Jesus was a massive badass from minute 1, frequently a fan fave character and had so many cool moments, but in the show they nerfed him and really watered down his coolness. Tom Payne got sick of playing him, said he was bored shitless playing him and sad that the character wasn't being done justice. Jesus survives to the very end of the comic and is almost the Rick replacement at the end, though Daryl in the show becomes the Rick replacement, but with Carl also dead in the show Jesus was filling a lot of the plotlines Carl would've had. Part of the reason TWD faltered around this time and died off a little was too many new names being introduced that the audience had little investment in. Jesus was done so dirty by the show and Tom Payne knew this. He literally asked for his character to be killed off and then auditioned for Prodigal Son so he had a new project lined up for when he left the show

This actually happened at the end of the season of TWD. The zombies were able to climb and even pick up objects and use them as weapons. Obviously it's because of the change in directors but those two seasons are so far apart. Who cares what the walkers did in season one? Evolving from the vast majority of the show where they didn't do that stuff.
Season 9 was so surprising! After 2 bad seasons and hearing that Rick was leaving I definitely thought Twd was dead then season 9 came and blew my expectation through the roof. It was great.

I like to theorize that whispers are the administrators of hordes, like how Killer cells need memory cells to remember their task in our bodies. The whispers give tasks and the horde follows to work with efficiency and order, just like ants, like a hive
It was season 1 showwrunners idea. He wanted walkers to be slightly more intelligent but after he left in season 2 they chanced it back to original slow, dumb zombies from the comics.
They ignored the firecrackers cause there were whisperers herding them away. Whisperers are a group of survivors who use Walker masks to walk with the dead. They learned how to control them using the masks and how to lead them. These zombies didn't evolve to ignore distractions. They don't learn how to do anything until season 11. This short is just clickbait for people who haven't watched the show and about 13 thousand of you fell for it. Walkers aren't scary up until season 11. When they learn how to climb and use items. This movement was caused by humans.
Honestly im upset that, the concept of fence climbing and tool using walkers dont show up until season 11. In the first season, when ricks first group goes to retrieve Merle from the roof, the walkers clumsily break the glass storefront of the shopping center to get in. And there were multiple instances of walkers trying to climb fences, walk faster than they do currently and even open tents. That changed in the third season where they just kind of shambled

Yeah I despise the idea of evolving zombies. The comic never had it, so why should the show do that? I just want to have a genuine zombie show, no evolved zombies that run or blow up or anything, just traditional zombies. It may be boring but they are still a threat, especially in numbers and especially if they grab you. One bite and you're done. There's no reason why a zombie would evolve, they're dead.
Thank you for writing this. I stopped watching when they left the prison because I realized they were going to use the cycle of “find a place, drama with humans, place gets compromised, move to next place” and I didn’t have the patience for that kind of nonsense. It’s cool to know that there were some interesting elements in the later seasons.

I never read the comics, so I had no idea about the whisperers. The first episode we heard them speak, and when they killed Jesus, it genuinely scared the crap out of me. I thought they’d evolved. 🤣🤣🤣

I like to theorize that whispers are the administrators of hordes, like how Killer cells need memory cells to remember their task in our bodies. The whispers give tasks and the horde follows to work with efficiency and order, just like ants, like a hive

It was season 1 showwrunners idea. He wanted walkers to be slightly more intelligent but after he left in season 2 they chanced it back to original slow, dumb zombies from the comics.

The first few episode of the whisperes was terrifying and nice but it was mishandle at the end

They ignored the firecrackers cause there were whisperers herding them away. Whisperers are a group of survivors who use Walker masks to walk with the dead. They learned how to control them using the masks and how to lead them.
These zombies didn't evolve to ignore distractions. They don't learn how to do anything until season 11.
This short is just clickbait for people who haven't watched the show and about 13 thousand of you fell for it. Walkers aren't scary up until season 11. When they learn how to climb and use items.

Honestly im upset that, the concept of fence climbing and tool using walkers dont show up until season 11. In the first season, when ricks first group goes to retrieve Merle from the roof, the walkers clumsily break the glass storefront of the shopping center to get in. And there were multiple instances of walkers trying to climb fences, walk faster than they do currently and even open tents. That changed in the third season where they just kind of shambled
@@timothyventura2231 This was due to a director changed. If we had the same director of episode 1 and the Mall one where we meet Glenn. Theres no doubt in my mind that walkers would've evolved even more. Sh*t they might've even created tribes.

Yeah I despise the idea of evolving zombies. The comic never had it, so why should the show do that? I just want to have a genuine zombie show, no evolved zombies that run or blow up or anything, just traditional zombies. It may be boring but they are still a threat, especially in numbers and especially if they grab you. One bite and you're done. There's no reason why a zombie would evolve, they're dead.

I stopped watching when they left the prison because I realized they were going to use the cycle of “find a place, drama with humans, place gets compromised, move to next place” and I didn’t have the patience for that kind of nonsense.

I think they just lead them in whatever direction they need to go in. Even without the Whisperers, walkers seem to really play follow the leader.
