Meanwhile in Australia running around the classroom swinging on the teachers chair and talking endlessly until the principal comes past
Asking a wrestler to do "some signature moves" during an interview is not appropriate. Wrestlers are performers, but they're not show dogs meant to jump through hoops for you. What did you want them to do? Slam each other through that coffee table on your set? Yes, wrestling is scripted and the wrestlers aren't trying to hurt each other, but they can and often do get legitimately injured. It's like interviewing a stuntman and asking them on the spot to jump through a random nearby window for you. You just don't do that.
Then the disrespect was compounded by the floor manager walking in and squaring up to Knight and Waller in a mocking way. Would he have done that to any other athlete in a "real" combat sport like boxing or MMA? Would he have done that to any other guest in general? Or was he acting that way because "wrestling is fake" and he assumed that he wouldn't get absolutely assaulted if he got up in their faces and took a fighting stance? And he was smiling the whole time, clearly oblivious to the fact that this wasn't a game or a joke. The male host was also extremely late in realizing that this wasn't some goofy act because he also had a huge grin on his face throughout much of it.
Personally, I hope WWE rethinks having their wrestlers on your show in the future if your hosts and your crew are going to treat them in such an embarassing manner. It shows what little understanding or regard you have for their profession.

I've been waiting for this for 20 years. The 2018 one was more like a glorified house show (those that understand wrestling terminology will know what i'm saying). Australia has NEVER had a main big PPV-PLE ever. 2004 i started at the age of 9, now 20 years later it finally happens.

The guy was mockingly putting his fights up in a joke boxing stance acting like the wrestler in question was a joke and therefor not a real tough guy and he got offended at that because it undermines the wrestler's persona of being someone who can challenge for the top championship. If the wrestler doesn't act like his persona is real the people won't believe in it and he won't succeed at his job.
Like Chris Evans has the charisma, body and acting for people to believe in him as Captain America. A wrestlers job is to convince people you legitimately are your persona or at leave some room for doubt that in some ways you are. If you saw Chris Evans getting easily thrashed by a tiny guy straight away in a fight all his actions scenes wouldn't exactly look the same would it? Questioning their legitimacy takes away from their livey hood of some but not all wrestlers.

They put Knight and Waller in a tough spot with their mockery and this could've been another John Stossel or Richard Belzer thing. Grayson kayfabed a save here.

What is it with Australian talk shows and always insulting people? This has happened to so many celebrities, not counting today, there was an incident back in the day with Gordon Ramsay, and a few other instances with other famous people. Why do Australian talk shows feel like they have to insult people to create buzz around their shows? I just don't understand the logic😮

WTF this was all jokey, there wasn't anything serious about this. I was led to believe this was a serious incident. Waller wasn't "defending the business". The cameraman guy wasn't being disrespectful and neither were the hosts. If this was "old school" the wrestler would maybe demonstrate some wrestling fundamentals, simple as that. Being asked for a demonstration isn't an attack on the business. The fact that it could be perceived as an attack is itself damaging to any attempt to preserve credibility. This wasn't "old school defending the business". It was just silly funny goofy family friendly daytime TV. Waller wasn't actually mad. I completely understand that it was an awkward position that the hosts put them in and that they felt a need to improvise a way out without breaking character. They wouldn't actually be able to perform their moves on a randomer.
Whatever that floor guy said triggered Grayson. That was a switch from character to real. And if you don’t know the difference you just don’t get it.

Matt Doran has always been a terrible interviewer. He always puts his emotions in his questions when he shouldn't. Kudos to Waller for standing up for a business that is often looked at as child's play when it is one of the toughest sports around.
