- I have just about finished Chalkdon my 009 gauge layout which has taken me aback as I usually take decades to finish anything! I take a look at the latest developments and then talk about the time involved in building it and the cost of materials. Chalkdon has never been a prototypical layout and was built 'Just for the fun of it!' and it has and continues to be fun!

Hi and many thanks for your comment. Very much appreciated. I do look at the layout on occasions and think,I built that and that is quite an uplifting thought! Hopefully this video may have given someone the inspiration to build a layout and get that same sense of satisfaction. Woody
Hi Woody, I enjoyed the tour of and information on your layout. It will be of interest to my grandson as he's about to start building a 009 layout, I'll show it to him when he comes up at the weekend . Hello James, Apologies for the late response but what with the festivities and various storm issues such as fallen trees and flooding time has been a little short! I am glad that my video was of use and hopefully your grandson will find it useful too. Hope that Christmas and New Year were good for you and your family. I did have a look at Dylington Christmas video and have to say there is a quite a video making talent in your family. Fantastically made and edited and I have to say I don't think I have ever seen such a Christmas layout before. @woodysmodellingdiary thank you for putting the links in for us, it's greatly appreciated. We did have a good Christmas, thank you, and now I've got to take the Christmas scene off of the layout and put everything else back on. We do have different events happening on Dylington from time to time, steam rallies, bus rallies, and even rock concerts. Hopefully, you've not suffered from any damage caused by the falling trees and flooding. Have you seen the Railway Modellers Club AAP? It's run by Scale Model Scenery and is free. There's lot's of great modelling on there, worth having a look at, oh, and we are on there. Hi, Thank you for your great comment which I very much appreciate. Hopefully 2024 will see a few additions to the rolling stock as I have some wagon kits to build and there are still a few small jobs to be done - as they say - a layout is never complete! Woody.
i am starting a new 009 layout found a kato small England cheap on amazon.
Hello Thomas, Those Kato locomotives are really nice looking and from what I understand they run well. Let me know how your layout build gets on and have a think about doing some videos about how it goes. Woody

Like the simplicity and a curved station...the vehicles bring this to life, love the bubble car and digger...
Hello and thank you for your very kind comments. I am not sure where I got the idea for a curved station but I have to admit I do like how it turned out. There are still things to do on the layout as it needs some more people and the locos really need crews in them so no doubt there will be some further videos. Woody
Even for 009 the radii are ridicoulous tight and not prototypical.
