Pumped to watch this video! Was out the same day. Top to bottom vis in 70’, FFC. EPIC! Bull companions on almost every dive which was a bit annoying, but still able to limit out on reds. New PB 16#. Thanks for sharing another epic dive with us!

MH, that was one of my dad's favorite sayings. And it's spot on! Zach joined us on a MG trip maybe 3 years ago and was already a good diver but has easily doubled in skill since then. Was a lot of fun having him out there. Best, Dan
Recreationally I know the importance of teramwork but I imagine doing it commercially is a whole other step. I have picked up a lot of tips and tricks which is what I love about your videos and editing. Keep up the good work and please keep sharing knowledge. It could save someone's' life.

Lots of action. very peaceful on the way down. I always used Avanti Quatro's in fact the red pair turned pink working in Egypt as the daily sun bleached them. Duck i miss that time in life, Stay Safe

@@danmacmahon3973 Dan, as a engineer I always looked at how things were made in the diving industry. When the "split fins" came out I was very sceptical which proved to be right. Look at nature who has had a long time to work out the best way to do something. You don't see splits in nature, all the ducks have webbed feet for a reason to capture as much water in one stroke, same with the water based mammals seals whales beavers the list is endless.... Quick story, in Australia on a 6 week trip visiting my DM who passed his IDC. he had 2 Dm's in training 1 was a tri-athlete way way fitter than me but she had splits fins and i made a comment they were no good. So we had a full kit race over 25 yards...I beat her by 3 yards swapped fins once my heart rate was back to normal lol She beat me by 3 yards. next day she want and brought Avantis lol

I like the Panasonic 26650 battery. Also, make sure the bezel is tight, if not, just snug it once before diving and it's good to go. Best, Dan

Ron, it's a cheap chinese made light I buy on Ebay. It's a simple push the slide forward to turn it on, push slide back to turn it off. Has a large spot for attaching a clip. Well thought out. I despise the models that you have to cycle through 4-5 different modes to get what you want. Maybe great for some applications but not for spearing. Here's an ebay seller that carries the light, item number #333809642206. That's just a random dealer but it'll show you the specific light. Make sure you buy a quality battery for it. I like the Panasonic 26650"s. Also check and make sure the bezel is tightened correctly from the factory. Best, Dan

BY, you're right, If I hadn't know that spot so well, he might have gotten away. Usually I don't make a shot that allows the spear to fall out and you can wait until the "mutton mamba" is over and double tap him. It gets pretty ugly pretty quickly when the spear falls out though! These are not underwater fishermen. They are pirates! This is why underwater fishing with scuba tanks is prohibited in Italy. Spear fishing is only allowed in apnea

RM, this one was 23.9 gutted, probably 25-26 whole. My biggest was 25.2 gutted. I know I've seen a few in the 30's but for one reason or another (usually Carbo's) I didn't get a shot. A 23 pounder is a hell of a mutton, congrats! Best, Dan
I wonder if you get nightmares at times about a crazy shark coming in like a freight train as you ascend.....It would be even more enjoyable to show footage defending yourself with the power head as a shark comes in... I know the shark huggers wont have none of that... they say you are in their territory but still you have to show them who is boss
DM, as odd as it might seem, I've only had a nightmare concerning one shark over the years. A big Hammer that played "scare the diver" for a few minutes. Besides that, even some of the uglier encounters never warranted a nightmare. I've def got some footage of some really bad interactions with Sharks but thankfully they're few and usually far between. Of course, a lot of that is due to me actively avoiding them as much as possible. Best, Dan
I was thinking the same thing. It could have gotten rocked up very easily in that cave. I'm guessing Dan was familiar enough with the cave to know there weren't any obstructions in it.
Muttons don't give you time to fiddle around with stuff like that. The window is small, gotta take the shot when it's there with whatever gear you're armed with. Probably won't get a second opportunity.
DT, I've never been much of a Bottom Fish Power Header, Occasionally I'll PH a big Carbo in deep water to get him out quickly but that's about it. I think I've power headed 2 gags in my entire life! I did know that spot pretty well and was confident if he went to that cave, that I could spear him again and drag him out! Best, Dan

You diving air w/ an o2 shallow deco at 200 ft, or mixed gas? Air is risky with that kind of activity and exertion.
WC, I never dive air, have been filling my own tanks for over 20 years and unless using tanks for lift bags, I have no use for it. Best, Dan
