Your channel is fantastic. I was an 80's kid and so thankful for that. You've inspired me to go out and make a run for the LJN figures. I had many as a kid and played with them for hours.
Another awesome review : ) Can't believe we've almost reached the end of the series : ( These videos have been an absolute joy to watch, they always bring back such great memories.
i ended up finding your channel through a top ten list. i can't remember which one. but i've binged watched this series almost all the way and love all the nostalgia that i've seen and i've even learned about figures that i didn't know existed! thank you so much for this awesome channel i'm an 80's kid born in 82 and i had some of these figures not alot. i had hasbro's more than that. but love your channel. it's a breath of fresh air.
Hey man! That's really great to read. I'm glad you found the channel and please stick around for some awesome new things coming. In fact, if you check out my newest video, you will see where we are headed. Also if you are a Hasbro guy, I did a long review series on those figures as well. Welcome aboard!
sweet! can't wait to watch those as well. def gonna check them out. will you do some gi joe stuff as well if you haven't already? i remember looking at the old card backs and seeing the figures in the lines and going wow i can't wait to own that one and that one. it really was so exciting to get new toys as a kid.
A GI Joe Collection is kind of a fantasy of mine. It's so deep and there are so many vehicles and massive play sets. I have been thinking about it more and more though. I think I would need to convert my garage for GI Joe, which is doable. We'll see. We will be talking about GI Joe in general on the new show. Reviewing the cartoon and things like that. Stay tuned for possible figure collection news.
Great part 7!!! Man a few tears drop from my eye every time I see the Ax figure but know there is no Smash figure to join him...my fav tag team of all time and only one LJN...anyway excited for part 8 and the black cards...take care brother!
When trying to put together my collection these figures were some of the harder ones for me to find (outside of the Black cards of course). I sir was that strange kid that wanted a Ref figure. Growing up with the Hasbro line I was sorely missing a ref and would often use Million Dollar man as my stand in ref (as he had a bow tie on so he was basically an over dressed ref in the mind of 10 year old me). Granted the ref stood in the corner and did nothing other than count pin falls. The time when a ref came in handy was when I had a friend over to play. As you mentioned in another video playing wrestlers with multiple people leads to fig mashing. This was our solution. Taking turns with matches and when it wasn't your turn, you got to play ref. Worked out well. Yes! Thank you for addressing the missing Smash. This still bothers me. I have often considered dropping some coin on a custom. I wonder if they had a smash planned but dropped it when the original smash (moondog) was replaced by Darso.
Actually....not a bad idea on the ref. Having a friend play the ref role. I like it! Although I preferred by far, to play LJN's by myself. I got WAY to into it and never felt comfortable with someone watching lol! However, one awesome thing my friend and I would do was play this game called "Battle Royal, Pick a Winner". LOL! Basically we would have 10 man battle royals and the other person would have to guess who would win. Awesome memories.
Really love the pose and the look of that Hogan figure. The Slick is awesome, captured his personality great. I love that they actually made his hat removable. At least Hasbro did eventually give us a wrestling gear variant of Debiase, but I do like the sculpt on that LJN' 'Big Money' Million Dollar Man. The money kinda looks like some spinach he's grasping. lol....maybe he was trying to promote some healthy eating habits to the kids too. ;) lol. Another great video, gotta check out some more of the LJN vids.
Another fantastic LJN Figures review! I always was annoyed that they didnt make Smash to go with Ax. what a dumb mistake on their part lol. i cant wait for the black carded series review. i feel that series is too short. would've loved if they did a Bad News Brown Akeem, The Rockers and updated a Macho Man Randy Savage in that series would've been awesome! Can't wait for you to do Hasbro and WCW Galoob as well. great video yet again!
like your videos lots of good info. did you collect the wwf magazine in the 80's and remember the wwf ice cream bars? those were really good and could only get them on the ice cream truck. I never did see them in a grocery store.
Thanks alot! I'm glad you are enjoying the channel. I had a ton of wwf magazines but I would always cut them up and hang the pictures on my wall. Always longed for a wwf ice cream bar but never saw them in stores
You just reminded me, the one thing that ticks me off about my Rick Rude figure is the one I have doesnt have the "Anchor Tattoo" on right bicep. Not sure if it just wore off or there is different versions...with and without Anchor tattoo.
I was pretty much done with my wrestlers when hacksaw and them I remember finding a bunch I really thought I had demolition both wow I can't remember I know it was separate so yeah that's weird no smash
Hey bro, I gotta say, I've been enjoying your LJN reviews quite a bit. As far as the black card fiasco goes however , this video is as far up as it goes on my u tube... And I'm really bummed, because those are what I'm trying to collect right now. Did you ever make that last video? I'm starting to realize that Sgt. Slaughter is the grail, but I'd almost rather have Haku because he's such a badass!
I still need a couple of the black rubber figures trying to find them in good condition with out (what I call black nose disease). Everyone I see has either has black nose or black knuckles. Just picked up a mint condition Bam Bam Bigelow I was so surprised I had to get it.
Just a fun little fact about Johny Valiant or Luscious Johny V. He was also the manager of the WWF World tag team champions the Dream Team with Brutus Beefcake and Greg Valentine. When he got out of the wrestling business I know he was doing stand up comedy, I don't know if he still is. Last thing just another little neat fact was Jimmy Valiant was Handsome Jimmy Valiant here. He hadn't converted to Boogie Woogie yet. Problem with being an obscessed fan and being in the business I know obscure stupid wrestling facts LOL.
Yeah. My brother, Mom bought them for me. I didn't like design of the Rick Rude though. When I got older I gave them all to a little boy whose parents did have the for Christmas. That was like 10 or so years ago and he still has them.
Mattel is putting out the retro Hasbro-type figures now. I know Jakks put out a couple of LJN types, but I think it is time for Mattel to right a wrong made by LJN 30 years ago... it's time to issue a few LJN re-makes, including Smash and the Barbarian. How about another Andre in the singlet, but this time in his Colossal Connection color? Mattel re-released a bunch of the Masters of the Universe figures, and while that was their collection originally, is there anything preventing them from re-releasing some LJN figures? I would personally purchase any and every LJN re-releases.
I think mattel releasing ljn style figures would be a fantasy come true. Jakks took the idea and failed with it. I'm sure sales and opinions of those figures sucked so maybe that's why mattel went with Hasbro remakes?
In reference to the black and blue based figures. I always thought that they did this to cut down on paint applications. OMG, M$M, and Bam bam have lots of black on them and perhaps it saved on production to cast them in black. Same thing with HTM who is pretty much a blue brick to begin with. Thats my best guess why they did this. And now we all have figs in our loose collection looking like coal miners.
Hate to sound like a know it all...but Johnny Valiant was actually managing Brutus at the first Mania in 85. Also, he actually managed Demolition when they first arrived.
Rock on man!! I know this stuff and I don't know why I can't cough it up during these shoots. Maybe because I just turn on a camera and go. Yes....Bruno threw Johnny V into the ring at WM1.
I have a question for you. Besides Hulk Hogan who had a Remco release of his Rocky figure, besides Hogan is Rick Martel the only wrestler to have a figure in the LJN WWF line and the AWA Remco line as well?
As far as remco rocky figures, they released hogan, rocky, mr t, and apollo. Hogan, Martel, and Jim Brunzell are remcos that got ljn releases. Great questions and thanks for interacting on the channel!
I had totally forgot about Brunzell getting a Remco figure. He was in the tag pack with Greg Gagne as the High Flyers. I only saw them once at a K-Mart and put them back and picked up the Freebirds instead.
Ugh....sucks. I think I might do a show on deceased wrestlers who had an LJN figure. Kind of a memorial type show. But I think it might be pretty depressing
Ha! Yes, the ritual. Filmed in Deepest, Darkest Africa.....or the back lot of the studio. One Man Gang is TRANSFORMED into Akeem....complete with horrible goofy dance moves. The best!
The New 80's Revolution hey. Ya, it says i added and invited you to messenger. But it didn't seem to do anything right away. I don't go crazy with it but I do use it and ive talked to people that have channels on u tube so hopefully it works. Its no big deal, I just wanted your advice on a ljn figure. We'll get Facebook figured out if u have the time, i do appreciate it...
The New 80's Revolution ok, so did u get the f. B messenger question i sent you? It seems stupid now, it was just about an LJN white shirt hogan figure. I don't know if you're comfortable discussing prices or not, I'd understand either way of course. But I was in an auction for a lot and the hogan was really the only figure I needed, and it was a beautiful specimen but it was up to $100, and that's too rich for my blood so I bowed out. So now theres a new one up there for $50 (a single hogan) but its got some issues for sure, I'm trying to talk the guy down quite a bit. So my question to you is- what do you think is a fair price for a fair ( to be generous) white shirt hogan?
+Jon Hufford so far I have nothing from Facebook. A fair Hogan...if there is T-shirt paint loss I would feel good at 40. Especially if there is no belt
Your channel is fantastic.
I was an 80's kid and so thankful for that. You've inspired me to go out and make a run for the LJN figures. I had many as a kid and played with them for hours.
Hey man!! Thanks alot for that. I appreciate your feedback. We have alot of fun here so stick around.
Yup no disappointment here love this information you provide black rubber used on '88 series not sure why this stuff fascinates me!
I enjoy your ljn action figures, I wish I had those when I was a child .
Another awesome review : )
Can't believe we've almost reached the end of the series : ( These videos have been an absolute joy to watch, they always bring back such great memories.
Glad you have enjoyed and have been one of my most consistent comment leavers (yes, that is a word). There is tons more to come.
Bam Bam had a great career in ecw had some incredible matches with tazz then part of the triple threat with Shane Douglas and candito
i ended up finding your channel through a top ten list. i can't remember which one. but i've binged watched this series almost all the way and love all the nostalgia that i've seen and i've even learned about figures that i didn't know existed! thank you so much for this awesome channel i'm an 80's kid born in 82 and i had some of these figures not alot. i had hasbro's more than that. but love your channel. it's a breath of fresh air.

sounds awesome. i really look forward to the future of the channel. very excited about it.
Great part 7!!! Man a few tears drop from my eye every time I see the Ax figure but know there is no Smash figure to join him...my fav tag team of all time and only one LJN...anyway excited for part 8 and the black cards...take care brother!
Ax without smash is an unspeakable crime.
They do have great custom smashes on eBay from time to time......I need to break down and get one!
Yes, I have seen some that look good. I think they make him out of an original Hogan
I've seen those......Also seen em made out of as. Which makes sense too. Seen one MOC.,..500 bucks for a custom on card! I'll pass lol
OK made of as not as lol

Thanks man. I'm going to talk about the rumored black cards and even the next series that was planned. Thanks again for the support man!
The 80's Revolution No problem bro! always will support.

I'll have to check mine. I think mine has a beat up one
It probably wore off over time, or it could just be a factory error. I have a Billy Jack Haynes with one of his tattoos rubbed off.
I was pretty much done with my wrestlers when hacksaw and them I remember finding a bunch I really thought I had demolition both wow I can't remember I know it was separate so yeah that's weird no smash

Also are you bringing back the beer review in the new season hope so lol
Beer and Ljns. What could be better? Haha
He also had that infamous feud and match with Lawrence Taylor. Wrestlemania 11
yes indeed

Yes....good old boogie woogie man! Johnny v did a comedy tour and was also in an episode of the sopranos
Yeah. My brother, Mom bought them for me. I didn't like design of the Rick Rude though. When I got older I gave them all to a little boy whose parents did have the for Christmas. That was like 10 or so years ago and he still has them.
awesome man......that's great. Yeah, Rude is my least favorite LJN. Total waste of a great character

makes sense from where I'm sitting!
That's exactly why they did it. To cut costs on paint. Cheap bastards! Lol
As a kid I had all of them except Haku and Boss man. 😊
sup man! welcome to the channel. ha! those are the only black cards I had as a kid
The 80's Revolution Big thanks for the welcome and congrats on having such a great channel, you deserve more praises and followers! 👍👏✌
Thanks man, I really appreciate that

The New 80's Revolution yea maybe but if you do it as a celebration and memorial of legends maybe it'll give it a different vibe
yeah that's what I'm thinking....a little background/memories/story telling thrown in
The New 80's Revolution that will epic
coming soon!
He was also in wcw bam Bam big low
He was in wcw
Sigh... I remember the "ritual" that was the debut of Akeem. It always makes me laugh.
Ha! Yes, the ritual. Filmed in Deepest, Darkest Africa.....or the back lot of the studio. One Man Gang is TRANSFORMED into Akeem....complete with horrible goofy dance moves. The best!
The exploding trash cans added a touch of class, I think, lol. I loved how he was always juking and jiving, and talking in slang.
yes my bruthaaaaaaaa
Does Johnny can come out
??
Hey bro, are you around? I had a question about a ljn figure. This probably isn't the best forum...lol. Anyway, maybe if u see this...
what's up? Facebook may be easier. facebook.com/jason.knupp.37

I found Randy Savage at a yard sale for 10 cents do I bought it.
Rick Rude was the worst one. I had a tough time playing with him
An LJN for a dime? Yeah, that's a score!
I had all of them but the refs and the two manager
Awesome! Sounds like you had a great collection!
The New 80's Revolution my collection was ok.
Yeah the refs were pretty generic but i think they could pass at the Hebners! Lol
Ha! I always used them as Joey Marella
Lol, just needs darker hair!
Manutd fan 6275
The reason Million $$$ Man's money is so long is because he doesn't keep small bills!
Ouch. Groan!! Lol....despite that, your prize should be there tomorrow!
My last name is NOT Seinfeld!!!
O' Blivion Ha! My apologies!
