Perique is an amazing tobacco, I love some of the C&D perique blends (smoking Poplar Camp right now, actually). It appears Jeremy has attained such a high level of hipsterism that he has actually begun transforming into Chairman Mao. Thanks for the vid!🍻👍🏼
I have to pick up a clay pipe now. Being a new pipe smoker and wanting to explore the different flavors of each type of tobacco, that was a highly appreciated piece of advice. Thanks.
Other than VaPers my favorite blend with perique is Haunted Bookshop. I love that earthy, mushroom thing that happens in conjunction with the virginias and burleys.
I love your videos perfect explanations. I enjoy smoking in my Meerschaum pipes straight pipe tobaccos Latakia, Prique and a verity of Virginias . I've never been a fan of artificial toppings myself. However blending is always an enjoyable experience. thank you
It would be interesting to know what your personal favourite tobaccos are, seeing as you blend for such a large brand. Knowing the tobacco blender's favourite tobacco blends helps one to understand both the blender and, ultimately the brand, including the thought process involved in making blends. Do these personal tastes help to guide your palette into making new blends? How difficult is it to create a blend which you don't personally like? Anyway, thanks for the videos. Always informative!
Can't think of the particular ones, but dig into the Cornell & Diehl archives here and find some of the earlier videos and he discusses his personal favorites. If I find it first, I'll edit the comment here. Edit: I think the video either got deleted, or it's not in the C&D library and was in another channel. Search for Jeremy Reeves and you might come across it.
I grow the variety, and it never turns. The leaves will stay green, until the first frost(December). It’s no good for curing any other way. The Perique origin story is cute, but untrue. Acadians brought the seed from their stop in St. Domingue, to Louisiana.
I bought a can of pure perique . It was too wet and smelt like dead dog The paper wrappers were browned and there were white spots on the surface, Do you think it was rotten and not good to be used? Really need help😊
Latakia is smoked, think bbq or burnt hardwood. Perique is fermented and tastes a little spicy, earthy, it can almost smell fishy(actually in a good way) mushrooms maybe. Totally different tobaccos.
The native Americans didn't just use tobacco for ceremonial events. They smoked for pleasure. They traded tobacco all over N. America as far north as Canada.
Love Bayou Morning. That is a great tobacco blend. I think I could just sit and listen to Jeremy talk all day long.
I could ask so many questions...well, i kept watching and Jeremy answered them 😂. Great videos, can't wait to try the blends
Awesome! Thank you!

Smell-a-vision really should be a thing by now. Vive la Perique!
Thanks for doing these videos! Being a tobacco nerd, I end up watching videos about tobacco processes and production over and over. Cheers!
I would say that perique and Latakia are my two favourite pipe leaf types
C&D perique blends are the best. My favorites are Exclusive, Bayou Night and Old Joe krantz. Keepuo the great work Jeremy!!!
I agree with you 100%. Those are my all time favorite blends.
These are amazing videos! Thank you Jeremy for taking your time to share the knowledge!
Glad you like them!
Kajun Kake is my favorite va/per. It really showcases the mushroom note of perique with a decent ”cigar-like” flavor.
Love the company lover your guys blends happy piping
Lately I've been smoking Exclusive which contains 50% Perique.
Very very informative. Thank you.
Thanks Jeremy.
This series is just what I needed. This is all new to me and its all just great. I wanna try them all!! Thanks!
The black American spirits are the only perique tobacco cigarettes I’ve smoked but I love em
once I tried these, I never went back to any other cigarettes
@@IMugMuggers same actually. I love perique
Same here. American Spirit black is my go-to. The Gray box is also a Perique blend.

Always enjoy your explanations & break down of tobaccos! Thanks for sharing!
I been watching your C&D YT video as a newbie they help when I'm shopping for different flavors. I Love the side note on the type of pipe your using.
Other than VaPers my favorite blend with perique is Haunted Bookshop. I love that earthy, mushroom thing that happens in conjunction with the virginias and burleys.

I love perique, to me it tastes like truffles!

👏GREAT !
New sub! Liked 😀😀👍🥶🌙
I bought a can of pure perique .
It was too wet and smelt like dead dog
The paper wrappers were browned and there were white spots on the surface,
Do you think it was rotten and not good to be used?
Really need help😊
No better scent than Gym Sock.
How does perique affect aroma or room note?
Wow Bun Bo Hue? That’s an oddly specific description lol
Hi sir. can you show me the recipe to make the aroma on the cigar?
Other than the nicotine, what are the major flavor differences between Perique and Latakia?
Latakia is smoked, think bbq or burnt hardwood. Perique is fermented and tastes a little spicy, earthy, it can almost smell fishy(actually in a good way) mushrooms maybe. Totally different tobaccos.
The native Americans didn't just use tobacco for ceremonial events. They smoked for pleasure. They traded tobacco all over N. America as far north as Canada.
I don't see anything saying Haddos having rum? At least it's not in the description.
You can't smell it or taste it?
@@jibblesq I've never had it. It should be on the label, there's no mention of rum at all.
Gl Pease has confirmed that it has rum.
What exactly is the difference between perique and Acadian perique is Acadian made from Virginia or is Acadian made in wine barrels what
Has anyone attempted to replicate the original technique by burying into the ground (inside a log) in modern times?
A friend of mine in the PNW did several DIY perique experiments, IIRC the ones compressed in wood all molded badly.
@@ddt0889 So I guess it can be dangerous
Lookin’ good, dude! Did you lose weight?
😂
Nice nose ring Charles
Thank you!

One of my favorite features on my phone is the ability to adjust the volume. Sometimes I wonder what they will come up with next.
