Welcome to Paros, Greece🇬🇷 Is it the Best Greek Island? Things to do in Paros & Antiparos

  • We spend a day exploring the town of Parikia in Paros, as well as the island of Antiparos, Greece to find out the best things to do! The islands can be found in southern Greece and are part of the Cyclades islands.
We started our day exploring the town of Parikia, walking around it’s beautiful white washed streets to see the class cyclades buildings. We walked around the Frankish Castle and also visited the old church called Panagia Ekatontapiliani.
Paros is known for being relatively chic so we walked around to window shop at the boutiques.
We then make our way to the waterfront area to check out the local beaches and walk along the promenade.
Here we pick up a bus that takes us to another town to take a ferry to the small neighbouring island of Antiparos (FYI- Tom Hanks has a house here- watch the video to see if we meet him!).
In Antiparos we take the drone up to get great views over the town, hit up the lagoon like beach next to the main town, and explore the beautiful streets. Antiparos is known for being even more chic than Paros and you can notice it in it’s beautiful boutiques and restaurants.

    Places featured:
Paros in Greece is among the most popular islands of Cyclades. Located in the heart of the Aegean Sea, Paros island is ideal for young people, romantic couples and families, too. The Parian traditional villages, particularly Naoussa, Parikia and Lefkes, are perfect samples of Cycladic architecture, with whitewashed sugar houses, paved streets and blue-domed churches. The beaches are famous for the exotic water and the golden sand. The beaches on the south eastern side, such as Golden Beach and New Golden Beach, are particularly popular for windsurfing.
Parikia: This is the beautiful capital of Paros, Parikia is a beautiful village with whitewashed cubic houses, impressive neoclassical mansions narrow cobbled paths, the old churches, the small shops and the houses in blue and white. Parikia is today one of the most popular and busiest spot of the island, as its cafeterias and restaurants along the waterfront attract many visitors. Parikia is also famous for its vivid nightlife, which makes it along with Naoussa village, the two busiest tourist resorts of Paros.
    Frankish Castle:
Perched atop the highest point of Pairikia is the Frankish castle, built in the 13th century. It was constructed in 1260 by Marcus Sanudus, who had conquered, along with Crusaders of Venetian origin, the Cyclades as well as other parts of Greece, and established the Duchy of the Aegean Sea, based in Naxos. Nowadays, only one of the castle walls remains. The material used for its construction was taken from ancient sites that existed nearby, such as the temple of goddess Athena, the protector of the ancient town of Paros.
    Panagia Ekatontapiliani:
Panagia Katapoliani is a historic Byzantine church complex in Parikia town, on the island of Paros in Greece. The church complex contains a main chapel surrounded by two more chapels and a baptistery with a cruciform font.
    Antiparos:
Antiparos is a small Greek island in the Cyclades group, seperated from Paros by a narrow and shallow strait. It has an area of 45 square kilometers with a 57 kilometer coastline. The capital Antiparos is on the north eastern coast, while the other villages Kambos and Agios Georgios are in the mid-west and on the south western coast, respectively. The islands houses just over 1,000 inhabitants. Antiparos is well recognised for its relaxed, authentic atmosphere. It has many beaches on all sides and offer a nice alternative to the more crowded and hectic islands around it.

This church is known as the “Church with 100 doors” and is one of the most important preserved churches of Greece! There is a legend, which claims that 99 doors have been found in the Panagia Ekatondapiliani, but the 100th will be discovered only when Constantinople (Istanbul) will become Greek again. thats why its called that...

I have been 30+ times to Greece and I ended up doing only 6 or so. But Crete I have done 8 times and I think have driven about 15.000km and can finally say I have seen alot from this truly amazing island with incredible splendors of any kind. Also the other many times where on the mainland in the Northern province of Macedonia, Epirus, and surrounding provinces. I can soooo recommend these places to non-Greeks.
It's so weird that so many people know about Greece and it's heavenly landscapes/islands/sea/climate/food/people/history. But the mainland and still many other islands are so vastly under-promoted. And with vastly under-promoted I really cannot emphasize this enough.

And in August I went to Halkidiki on the mainland and from there to the island Thassos which many people don't really know, and it was gorgeous as well and again unique. Ok, Paros is indeed a beautiful untouched little gem of an island; but it is not the best all round island. Ok for a couple of days and then I would be bored senseless.!! Total lack of diversity, so therefore the best island for all round enjoyment has to be Crete.!! Especially Hania, which has everything a traveller could wish for. If I win the lottery, then I would happily live there for the rest of my days with the wonderful Cretians. Hania is Paradise on earth.

A delightful video, but all through it the two of you were pronouncing the name of the island wrong. The 'a' is a long 'a' like the 'a' in the word 'father.' It's not pronounced 'Pear-os'; but 'Pah'-ros.' The same for the island 'Antiparos': it's pronounced 'Anti-pah-ros,' not 'Anti-pear-os.' I am a lifetime, permanent resident of Paros and we natives are offended when the name of our island is mispronounced. I mean, it's such a short, simple name - one doesn't have to be a 'Rhodes Scholar' to learn to pronounce it correctly.
Another suggestion, ditch the sunglasses. I don't care how blinding the Greek sun is; in 'public speaking' you must have eye contact with your audience; people want to SEE your eyes so as to make eye contact with you. Covering your eyes is a big 'faux pas' in public speaking.

I'm glad you liked the video. But....this is our video/channel and we're going to wear sunglasses because we like to. We're not public speakers. Also, we travel way too much to get every pronunciation correct. As Canadians, when we see a word spelled that way that's how we naturally say it. No need to get offended on that ✌️- Trevor

I'm with misterbignik - it's not difficult to pronounce the name right, especially when you're there and hear the locals say it. It shows respect for the place and its people and also doesn't sound like you're talking about Paris. It's not professional to not be able to pronounce the name of a place correctly.
Sure this is your channel and you can do whatever you like, but if you would've replied that you will try to pronounce the names of the places you visit right, I would watch your other videos. :)

You are not supposed to show your shoulders and arms(women). The tank top on the man is very inappropriate for a church too. It’s tradition but also a matter of respect. They supply women with skirts if your wearing shorts.

They threw you out of the church b/c you are from the USA and ye people generally aren't liked on the islands b/c of your attitude towards the locals.
