      I see this from a different perspective and I often ask myself: can we even understand the meaning of luxury without experiencing it? I am in financial coaching and I look these items as wealth triggers.
      Also thanks for reminding us that all these crypto guys actually flex a lot...Flexing means that these people have self-worth issues, unfortunetly.

    I don't even use my designer bags anymore. This world has become so dangerous that I feel like I have a "rob me" sign on my back when I wear them. The exception was my LV duffel which I took to Spain with me last month. But for every day wear I just don't risk it.

      I sold all of my Chanel and Hermes bags for that very reason - the target effect. I also have a high end car and I just felt like my car plus these crazy bags = easy target. I still have only luxury bags but they’re more subdued. Like Celine and Prada. Marching around with the CC logo and Hermes just made me feel uneasy. Also, haha it was the perfect time to sell because I nearly doubled my money haha 🎉

      True, a nice experience is something you can enjoy more. I do love fashion and accessories but I’m truly fine with contemporary brands when it comes to handbags and my other favorite accessory sunglasses my favorite brand is surprisingly Ray Ban. Really I love RayBan more than any other designer sunnies.
      But yeah spending on experiences is sometimes better. It doesn’t have to be exotic trips but a nice restaurant with your friends, a pretty good musical or just going to the movies to watch really good that it’s mostly enjoyable in the movie theater like it was Bohemian Rhapsody or Rush long time.
      Now I admit Sometimes I’ve been thinking on saving for a designer bag for the quality, especially I’m looking for LV quality. I don’t want something delicate. I’m quite a rough user when it comes to my handbags so I’d feel really guilty with a Chanel bag or similar
      I’m interested in getting the mini speede or Alma BB. My third option would be the twist.
      I’ll check prices and maybe save for just one. I want one because everyone says how durable they are. You can be a rough user with them. I trust I could get them through the wringer and it would be fine lol.😅
      I love the classic flap and the Lou Lou but with those I prefer dupes from contemporary brands. I know myself that I’d never wear the classic flap or the Lou Lou and feeling to self conscious on them getting dirty or scratched so sorry but I prefer in those cases a dupe

      @HauChic  Před rokem +8

      that is actually a true one! i forgot about this, im not sure where the line can be drawn with tax write offs and luxury goods because it is a little bit blurred. I have heard some influencers did get flagged up for it before and that they couldn't claim the goods through tax write offs.

    Will there be a time when those influencers who have made their theme 'luxury', find themselves without content? I have been curious whether there is a ceiling to this all. How many Hermes bags or Chanel bags can a person have before the content becomes boring? I think many influencers are forced to become entrepreneurs out of financial survival.

    • @HauChic
      @HauChic  Před rokem +17

      interesting! i do think that there will always be unlimited content when it comes to any niche. I don't think that unboxings, reviews and wishlists will always be the type of content that will forever be in the luxury niche, trends in type of content will always change over time. Personally, i think that long lasting channels will always have an underlying intention behind their message or also known as the 'value' they express. For my current channel, it would be the value of having a community to talk about topics and learn more, the more we discuss (not just from my video alone but from everyone contributing), some channels may feature on "how tos" and be more of a teaching platform, or some may be the ones presenting the "latest and newest' or showing what is 'trending'. But in the end on how they present it on CZcams will always be a different way :) what do you think?

      Also; times are changing. We have to change the way we spend. EU is starting to legislate on how all the big European fashion houses (all EU fashion houses really) earn their money.
      A lot of influencers just buy, and buy, and buy, AND BUY. It’s disgusting really when you think of the repercussions it has on the environment, people working in the industry etc.
      I don’t believe it’s a job that’s going to be around forever unless they change, because it’s going to change whether they like it or not.

    Im all for high quality goods, but I think that Chanel bags and many similar bags are ridiculous. I often imagine the marketing team sitting in their offices saying: "Let's see if those idiots will pay $12 000 for the classic flap this year" as they raise the prices, and the quality goes down. Besides LV and CC are so overdone and boring. I would honestly rather own pieces from Arket. There are much cooler brands like Loewe and Toteme whose designs are taking the world by storm and have left those old heritage brands in the dust. We are living in a world now where we don't go out as much and those kinds of items are completely redundant. Just invest in some lovely cashmere from COS or Arket - the quality is beautiful and you won't feel like a mug.

      My goodness yesss! These people are definitely fake. I was at a restaurant when one of the influencers listed at the beginning arrived. She was with a man who was filming her fake arrival. It was a very small restaurant, so it was SO awkward. It was clear they thought they were more important than the rest of us. But when they were done filming and sat to eat, they were obviously not enjoying themselves…or each other. Then they made the waiter photograph them and retake the photo 5 times. It made me so grateful I was there to enjoy a special time with the man I love. I’m truly lucky for the happiness I have, not for the luxury.

    I can’t imagine the level of anxiety of “keeping up” as an influencer. Not for me. Good on them I suppose if they are monetizing a lifestyle but I often wonder how this can actually make you happy constantly chasing the next content and likes. I don’t say this from a cynical standpoint. I live in one of the most expensive cities in the world, Vancouver, British Columbia own my home, own my own established business and have a beautiful rewarding life. I have a small luxury handbag collection, to die for wardrobe, etc. but I do lead a very private and low-key lifestyle. True wealth is quiet. No one in my social circle would post from social media from an airport or a plane. It seems tacky. I would feel embarrassed to do so honestly, but that’s just me. To each is their own, but I honestly would not be able to live in this hyper focused, micro trend online social media world.

    • @HauChic
      @HauChic  Před rokem +1

      I wouldn't be able to imagine the "keeping up" part as an influencer either. But I do think that comes with knowing your intentions before you do anything in life, be it content creation or as a collector, or learning a history etc. Finding your own core value or knowing your "why" definitely lasts so much longer than any amount of things or assets you have. I can already imagine that you have already identified your purpose and core value in life where the "stuff" that came with it is all just a part of it and that is amazing! I just hope that more individuals will be able to find their "why" in their world and project that sense of fulfilment to find their happy place :) love your thought process here! xx

    Biggest market that drives the demand for luxuries - is Chinese- once they start thinking and stop buying like there is no tomorrow- the luxury market will adjust itself…. I don’t see that this high demand is actually sustainable, not for people not for nature😊 I am not saying it will disappear but it would be on a smaller scale and only for certain people - probably for those who will also be living behind the high fences due to security issues

      I know what you mean! it could also be the added extra love for the product as the influencer as it was gifted. But with items that are gifted, its often not chosen by the influencer so the difference in not being able to choose the items given vs going out to buy the items you love can make a big impact on whether you love something long term vs short term too.

  • @sarizonana
    @sarizonana Před rokem +7

    I think social media influencers are different than movie, tv and music stars influencers.
    Many Social Media influencers are self made celebs so they give the impression you can easily be like them, that you just need to buy your camera and start a small luxury collection and then you can be as rich as them like it’s nothing, social media celebs make girls spend exactly on the same items as them.
    Music Tv and Movie stars there is like a barrier with fans and them. With those stars you knew what they got was un obtainable, we all looked for cheaper alternatives.
    Movie stars showed themselves in a Chanel bag. We looked for something in Kate Spade or Coach. It was the obvious thing to look for dupes and I mean legal dupes not replicas. The closest we could aspire to have like them were sunglasses.
    With social Media influencers girls do anything to have exactly the same handbags as their favorite influencers

    • @HauChic
      @HauChic  Před rokem +1

      Love your thought process! The relatability of influencers to the public can be such an interesting thing to see. In my eyes I see influencers as the most relatable people online as you mention but at the same time, it does take a character to even start your own social media channel, and the lifestyle associated with the job comes with a lot of opportunities that lets say...an office accountant or a teacher wouldn't have. I also think that there is a big persona that comes in font of the camera as an influencer, nothing wrong with it, its quite natural to be honest, but it is also just a snippet of one's life. But because influencers are the most relatable people online, I do think that relating to someone who is actually not as relatable as you think becomes a bit confusing.

    • @sarizonana
      @sarizonana Před rokem

      @@HauChic you make great points as well, to be a luxury influencer definitely requires a lot of work and also requires to have a special charisma to be in front of the camera. Being a fashion or luxury influencer isn’t easy.
      And true definitely the greatest asset with influencers is being relatable to the viewers and the closeness, I could never picture RDJ or Nicole Kidman answer to their fans on social media.
      Regular celebs many of them do have social media but I bet non of them manage it.

BUT that being said, I do think that influencers have their place hence their titles. But I wonder if luxury will ever die down and not be brought to the forefront on social media.

    • @HauChic
      @HauChic  Před rokem

      Best way to approach shopping for sure and love your thought process!! Influencers do have the power to influence, especially through the trust they have built with their audience. But I do also think that the public may have put too much influential power (or put them on a pedestal) on the influencer and when I personally watch user generated content, I try not to put too much weight on what an influencer says because in the end of the day, it is just another opinion out there, just this time it is public. Not 100% sure whether luxury will die down, but I do think the perception of luxury is evolving where "seeing the worth in it" may have changed already and perhaps the meaning behind products and brands show more weight. xx

I want to tell you how impressed I was by your video. You are such an articulate, well-spoken young lady who has so much poise and intelligence. You did an incredible job with this summary of luxury. I plan on forwarding to some of my family members who also would enjoy watching this. I look forward to more videos from you. I have to admit I too love luxury but try not to let it rule my life. I love watching shopping vlogs and watch some of the influencers you profiled. Not sure if its because its something seen so much online that you turn a bit numb to it? ohhh fast fashion is something that is very overdone, especially on TikTok! I was disappointed your video lacked cultural reach.

    • @HauChic
      @HauChic  Před rokem +8

      I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like the video. I get that it's important to have people of all skin tones and cultures represented and if anything, celebrated. I actually thank you for bringing the topic up as it is an important factor to note and on this channel it is actually more about the discussion more than the video itself (also if you are new, welcome, let's enjoy a great chat in the community ^^). My videos are mainly just a starting point of a conversation and if you would like to bring anything up, you are very welcome to discuss it! So, I am very glad and incredibly grateful that you are able to open up to speak up about it.
      It's also worth noting that while diversity and representation are important, it's not the only factor that determines the value of a video or content. The creators and topics I have featured in the video is just a starting point to a very small niched topic about flexing luxury goods alone and the individuals I have shared so far were only giving out a few valuable insights and perspectives in the luxury industry, regardless of their skin tone or culture. I do agree that I have missed out on many influencers who are brown, dark brown or black, and I am actually really interested to know and watch more of myself! Please do share :)

    • @HauChic
      @HauChic  Před rokem +1

      Victoria is so smart and I love her blog in her early days and her current videos are so beautiful! It is a lot of work to create content, from scripting, planning, shooting, editing and the creatives through it all. I do think all content creators have put in a lot of effort to create and their hard work have paid off and it shows because they've managed to build such a large community of trust. But I do agree with you in that the undisclosed ads can lead to distrust and also the relatability begins to disappear. If they are gifted or loaned, I still think it is okay to share the reality of what happened and then style it as though its a feeling of going into a shop and trying on clothes before buying it. So there are options to still keep the trust there :)
