I think Alucard's "loyalty" to the Hellsing organization is one of the few things the story is able to organically tell through just implications based around how he acts. The fact that the Hellsing family had once neutralized him could be part of it, but there is a more to it than that. Alucard himself is a death-seeker. The only thing he cares for is to find an opponent strong enough to finally end him. At least that's the impression I got. With that said, there is a benefit to tagging along with the Hellsing family. In their service, he's in a comfy spot where strong opponents are bound to just show up eventually. All he has to do is wait and carry out missions and one of those days, he's gonna come across folk like Andersson or Shrödinger, who have the potential of destroying him. It could also be loyalty through respect. With how poweful he is, just the fact that the Hellsings were able to put him down once was enough to earn admirition that keeps him loyal to the Hellsing family.
+AlluMan96 Or he just wants to bang Integra.
+SuperGodlike101 or the police girl...
Sorry for 4 years later response; I also read somewhere that big part of it is also Alucard doesn't want another monster like him in this world. Which is why he cried and got angry when Anderson made himself a "God's monster"
@@IIDraithII yeah i remeber that part as well
Hellsings dub was a masterpiece
And i didnt like it because i am weeb
gotta say the nazi major and Alexander anderson weree cast perfectly in the dub, everything else gotta givee to the sub though. but, you cant not love AMEN
But No nakata youji
+ljqueen McAwsome Eh he was fine but japanese audio still for me.
+Ardeshir Javid. I think the Abridged for Hellsing Ultimate is amazing xP
Wanna know someone who does a badass Alucard?
Takahata101 from the abridged version.
+MetaLink i completely agree, that was what i thought exactly
that blonde little shit strolled in and destroyed his seventy inch, plasma Tv!
I don't think you know what a badass is. Takahata's Alucard is more goofy than badass.
Max
The voice is badass, not his behavior.
Kirikoza My point still stands. How do you even factor in behavior? Takahata does not control Hellsing's behavior.
I think he forgot to value one of the most important things about this anime. The beauty of the anime really lies in how the characters start with no depth with only one implication that alucard is a badass and slowly transitions to philosophical insights about the characters and life .This show wasn't just all blood and violence, it was philosophy hidden so gently in all the gore and subtly delivered to the audience from the tongue of the lead characters. This is a must match for people craving about immortal, monsters ,the how evil things do greater good.Plus the voice actors are so good and the script for the final few episodes along with the music is breath taking .I do agree with the review but its just not alucard is a bad ass and all gore .The anime has a lot of depth which some may fail to perceive.
@@icemanzeke yes why not?
A voice actor who could be a better for Alucard than Crispin Freeman? I'm not saying it's a sure bet but as someone who has a fighting chance: Takahata101
That's your opinion, I guess...
I'll take it as your opinion. Deal with it. :)
***** Since "which voice sounds better" is subjective, it is by definition opinion.
Craig Tierney It's like arguing about religion with this guy. There's no point to reason.
The thing is, I have no intention of starting a debate with you about it. Hell, I'm not even dicksizing Takahata. But if you wanted me to defend *my opinion* so badly, I'm just saying that as Alucard, I have more fun with Taka voicing as the character. Don't get me wrong. Crispin Freeman is a talented voice actor. Maybe it's the script, the work environment or the fact that the materials they made were for two completely different purposes or what have you but I believe that the former sounded more entertaining. Hell on my first comment, I've clearly stated it's not a sure bet and I know for a fact that lots of people would disagree. That's fine. That is completely fine. I'm just saying that among that ever-growing list of voice actors(be it professionally or amateurishly), *I believe* Taka *CAN* (not will, not should) give Crispin a run for his money.
Alucard isn't immortal, rather, he has just absorbed millions of lives.
But he absorbs Schrödinger's soul in the end. That gave him the ability to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time. He is immortal because the he can die and still be in another reality.
Cessare well at the very least he was immortal
I’m gonna guess he’s gonna call it his #lifehack
Soo... he's a homunculus now?

alucard vs deadpool
*grabs popcorn*
opsonicfan358 has dead pool ever been eaten or had his blood sucked dry?i think alucard would win by turning him into a familiar, or he would let deadpool kill him like he wanted anderson to do. Would work best if it was takahata voicing him too :p
james harrison but i can't die
opsonicfan358 alucard vs deadpool vs TTGL (because spiral power)
opsonicfan358 alucard vs goku
MABfan11 alucard
(Spoilers) Apparently, to defeat Alucard you need to (all needs to be done with holy or silver tipped weapons)
1. Make him use release restraint 0
2. Destroy the army of thousands that he has within him and I mean every single one, don't skip even one of them
3. Fight his last body yourself until he himself is at breaking point
4. Have an extra dimensional being who defies the laws of physics to an extreme (being everywhere and nowhere works rather well)
5. Have said extra dimensional being kill them self
6. Make Alucard try to reabsorb all of the blood on the battlefield (make DAMN sure the extra dimensional being is there)
7. After step 6 he will be gone and you might think that you won but you haven't yet, he will be respawning in a set amount of time (up to 30 years depending on the amount of people he reabsorbed)
8. When he comes back he will be rather weak, at this point continue combat and deal the final blow
Congratulations! You have killed the utter force of nature known as Alucard. Get yourself a drink and celebrate... or die because there's little possibility you got out of that unscathed unless you're immortal.
You think alucard would allow that to happen? They would be dead before then lol.
b4 you can get step 1 done you'd be dead already.
It was 30 years, not 3.
***** Oh yeah, right. Editing
Nihilism55 Where did you read this from? By the way how the hell do you find an extra dimensional being lol
You clearly didn't understand at all what Alucards "immortality" is and what he means be "immortality is an illusion".
Allucard is NOT immortal. The show alright tells you his secrets:
He has like a few hundred thousand extra lifes!
Whenever he consumes someones blood, that life is added to his own. If he's "killed", he simply get's to use one of those life and regenerate fully. That's why the traditional killing methods for vampires don't work for Alucard, because each time you "kill" him, one of his numerous life is substracted and he comes back with full health and that's it.
That's also why in the battle of London it is several sated, after Alucard releasing the level 0 seal, that now is the moment where you could actually kill Alucard. Because all of his extra lifes are now *outside* of him and thous he can't use them anymore as extra lifes (but he can still use them as a badass army of undead).
So who can kill Alucard?
Basically ANYONE!
You just need a LOT of patience and have to be able to survive his powers.
Superman, for example, could defeat him, if he's smart. Just stay far away from him and incinerate him with his fire vision.
There are a few other examples (Shazam, Wolverin etc. pp.), but it basically comes down to patience.
Remember, you have to kill him several hundredthousdan times before he finally dies for real.
Btw. the way that the previous Head of Hellsing was able to defeat Alucard was making him release his Level 0 seal, killing of all the "extra lifes" and then battling Alucard (or rather, Dracula).
Or maybe he just defeated Him without killing the extra lifes. It's not really clear but it's also not that important for the story.
i don't think so, as the battle of London, he reduce all his life (or soldiers) to zero, and still kicking ass, the extra life probably just there for show, his immortality is far enough
Long Nguyen
Looks like you didn't pay attention as well.
"A few hundred thousand" is quite the under-estimate. Considering he has soaked up (By episode 8) all the population of London in 1999 and all of his past gotten lives. The Wiki states he is at 3,424,836 lives after dueling Walter. Van Hellsing was able to essentially capture, not kill Alucard (at the time known as Dracula). He did so stabbing him through with a stake, and with a hundred or so years of experiments with science and sorcery, turned Alucard even more into a beast. As such, restrictions are applied. Note that you may argue "a stake wouldn't work": It did at the time, since Dracula was weaker before the experiments (and the stake went through at dawn, when a vampire would be weak). Also good to note that Alucard had never released his souls (his level 0) before the events of episode 8. He only did so by commend and beckoning by and to Integra.
I don't mind Victoria not really struggling with her vampirism... I prefered it rather than neverending whining.
I think its funny the word "Nazi" never left your mouth during the whole review.
ramon mystiere Good point.
Yeah but he's not calling anyone a nazi, it would simply be stating the undeniable fact that there are fictional vampire Nazis in this anime, which shouldn't offend anyone.
Derek Wilkinson its the internet you'll always find that one idgit that'll be offended
ramon mystiere i'm german and i don't have a problem with anyone saying the word "nazi" :)
ramon mystiere im offended he didnt use the word. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH(sarcasm)
THAT INTRO WAS THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER AND WAS SO CORRECT!
...until you cut it off right when I was REALLY getting into it...
I really have no idea why you tore this amazing OVA series apart Arkada. From what you said about the original tv series in your review of it, I thought you'd LOVE Hellsing Ultimate! You complained about how they didn't focus on Alucard and instead focused on Seras in the first series, and yet you say that they should have done the same thing in Ultimate.
Christ you are so unpredictable...
The one thing I agree with you on though are the cartoonie bits. xP
Ugh. This review ruined mah day. :I
When one watches the first series, then watches this one, this one is like a breath of fresh air. But they already have some of the character building from the first to take into consideration. In order to get everything out of Ultimate, one would have to first watch the first series, or have read the manga. There were certainly parts of Ultimate that were confusing. I'd certainly give the show a better rating, but thinking back, I did always wish they'd have spent more time on certain things. 7.5 is a bit harsh, I'd say 8.5 would have been better, because the show is VERY strong in some areas, but it has its weaknesses.
RipleySawzen I dunno, I didn't really remember the original tv series when I started Ultimate and I wasn't confused.
He told it like it was the show was amazingly entertaining but is not going to win anime of the decade I actually liked and respected his opinion of one of my favorite anime. He was critical but not insulting
Tore it apart? I don't think he tore it apart at all if he had then he wouldn't have given it a buy it rating. Also with the score thing I am sure he has mentioned on more than one occasion that the point system he uses is essentially pointless or something like that. Why he even has one Idk. I think he should just stick with Certified Frosty, Buy it, stream it and Fuck it ratings because, when it all comes down to it, that's all we really wanna know.
Southean The score ISN'T really what matters. It's what the reviewer says in the review that matters the most. All he said in the review was basically that it's enjoyable, but other than that it sucks.
You seemed to miss one little thing GR... Alucard CAN be killed. The reason he doesn't die? Because he has a billion souls in him! (Almost literally) Each time he 'dies' he just uses one of the souls to revive himself. That's why (Spoilers) when he does the full release and has his armor he can be killed because he no longer has any souls.
And I think at the end of the manga he killed every lest soul inside him in order to return to his master.
Alucard only had 3 million soul's in his body at that time. He now has only one in his body
Adam Lee But now he possess Shrodinger's ability, so as long as he is aware of himself, he can't be killed, rendering him effectively immortal.
Alucard is now omnipresent with one life. Not much can be done about that though.
the one anime serious absolutely want to see on a big silverscreen one day
"Alucard" is "Dracula" spelled backwards..
clever.
no fucking shit
Makes him the first and thus the most strongest vampire etc etc
"THE DEVIL NAME" 😈(name that is spelled backwards)😳
OMG
I love Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate with all my heart!!!
@@Shadow-gm9ct It's my 8th fav series
As a story it could definitely be better, but it sure as hell an enjoyable series
The genius behind hellsing and stuff like HOTD is their self awareness. Anime as a whole is a tired genre devoid of nuance; self awareness is a rare quality
Late but i have to say just because dog shit is aware of its putrid odor doesn't make said shit any less repulsive I'm tired of this "meta fiction" trope nowadays.
@@kingpiye7060meta fiction and self awareness are two different things. I wouldn’t call Marvel Movies self aware and I wouldn’t call John Wick meta.
5:13 "we might as well start with her butt" i laughed too much at that, and that's not even what he said!
Personally, I can see where arkada is coming from with the point that character development and plot explanation is rather weak. However, this is mostly due to the limited info that source material (manga) provided. Whilst I would appreciate a more in-depth OVA that addressed the problems of the manga (aka so-so character development and weak lore explanation), I am more than satisfied with how Ultimate stayed very faithful to the source material. This is a mixed bag, as some people (like me) prefer this faithful approach, whilst others may have preferred the anime to address the plot holes and weaker characters found in the manga.
One point that I was disappointed with this review, was arkada not really addressing the thought provoking nature of "Alucard's Immortality" about how "only a man can kill a monster". The mystery of how a mortal man: Van Hellsing could best the invincible demon Alucard is less of a plot hole but more of an element of contemplation on the nature of mortality. When fighting Alexander ( super enhanced with the nail), Alucard manages to overcome his foe and states that Alexander lost because he was "no longer human". Essentially, the invincible Alucard can only be defeated by a mortal man which is also reflected by Alucard's respect for Integra and Walter (pre-betrayel). In fact, Alucard openly envies humanity and mortality,as he is condemned to hell on Earth.
This mystery of "is immortality worthwhile" is a sweet icing on top of this delicious OVA that I feel alleviated it to my top 10 OVAs when combined with the epic battle scenes.
-Bonus point: Alucard may win any fictional battle with other anime characters with godly or inhuman powers, he will probably lose to a strong willed human character.
The only part I disagree with is plot holes there aren't any but it is absurd
Please review Hunter x Hunter (2011)!
I'd love to see your thoughts and comments on the show!
That needs to happen!
Doesn't do long running anime reviews
Not yet, i've only just started watching it after hearing literally everyone on Earth say its the greatest thing since toast(cause sliced bread is a tired old pony of a metaphor), I do so hope it lives up to ze hype.
Hunter x Hunter has way too many episodes to consider doing a review of.
i think he reviews anime's that are close if not ended
Okay, let me say this first - the review was great and all the points Arkada brought up were very well explained, however, as Hellsing Ultimate is my favorite Anime of all time I can't help but defend the show. I know it's all subjective, and I'm fully aware that what I'm gonna say isn't the end all be all truth, it's just an argument for the sake of argument.
*ALSO MAJOR FUCKING SPOILERS*
First of all - the characters. Both Seras and Integra were very well developed characters. You see, Seras' development isn't centered around growing accustomed to her new vampiric abilities, but rather accepting the fact that she is not human anymore, which the show does very well. I mean, think about it - up untill episode 7 when she realized the importance of consuming blood, the concept horrified her, which led to very interesting interaction with both Alucard, some of the millenium vampires and Integra. Her past serves as a means to both shock the viewer and emphasize what leads her to abandon her humanity (same concept is applied with Maxwell).
Integra's development is very concentrated, but it's there and it's done spectacularly. While she is an independent badass female from the get go, by episode 5 we can clearly see that she can manage on her own, without Alucard or Walter by her side. In the last episode she realizes that she can't rely on Alucard, hence her raiding the Nazi blimp only with Seras.
As for the Major... I wouldn't say he is sympathetic, but his actual goal was really surprising for me. for him, it wasn't about the war, even though he clearly enjoys it, but through the destruction he caused he was able to prove a point, very much like the Joker in "The Dark Knight" - both literally and figuratively, humanity means nothing to people when it comes down to it, and he was the only one to remain human.
For me, that makes them amazing characters.
Secondly - the animation. It was freakin' amazing, so sharp and clean, and it's the only anime I have ever watched that melded CG and hand-drawn animation so well.
When it comes to sound the orchestration served its purpose, and while I do find it somewhat generic compared to the original adaptation's soundtrack... it doesn't end there. Ultimate has so many techno, rock and jazz tunes that fit their purpose perfectly, in both the atmosphiric and chaciness department. Also, "SCARS", the ending theme for episode 9 is glorious.
With all that in mind, I don't think Hellsing Ultimate is just popcorn material, It's so much more. It has a great story and characters with Taboo motives and lots of entertainment value, as well as incredible production values.
And that's why I like it so much ^_^
I agree. I feel like there are two ways to watch this show.
1. With a bucket of popcorn (which is totally fine)
2. With an open and analyzing mind receptive to all the little references, not only to movies, but to traditional European folklore. Did anyone else notice the reference to the traditional German national holiday Walpurgisnicht in episode 8? I THINK NOT
Also, Arkdada-sama said that all the fights were just epic, over the top awesome, but I'd argue that Alucard's fight against Anderson is more tragic than "epic".
Thank you. No, seriously, thank you.
I think I've finally found someone that loves Hellsing Ultimate as much as I do. We have a lot of similar viewpoints on it.
Relative to what was said in the review, I know Arkada likely read the manga before he watched both the TV series and Ultimate, but the OVA did show Seras coming to terms with her vampire state (especially in the seventh OVA), and it showed Integra is capable of defending herself quite well (the last three OVAs).
Now, the only thing I disagree with about this comment is that the animation... Most of the time, it was amazing, however I just re-watched the eighth OVA and... It does goof up at times. The CG hoard of the, erm, I'm not sure exactly what its called but following Alucard's Level 0 Restriction, that was very conspicuous CG. The rest of the show, however, has very good animation (and the soundtrack is good but I still like TV Hellsing's OST better, haha) and like you, Hellsing Ultimate is also my favorite anime.
I can't thumb you up enough
The last 3 episodes had terrible animation considering the circumstances. (It being an OVA)
The new studio had nearly no budget after Madhouse blew it all on the glorious 5-7, and they had to re-use a lot of Madhouse's clips.
The only good thing about SCARS is the song, simply because animation in the ending is as lazy and un-creative as can be. Every ending prior had exclusive animation, but that one just re-used old clips, and even did so twice.
I disagree. I've watched the show countless times, and never felt like the last episodes had a severe drop in animation quality like you claim. I think I heard somewhere that Madhouse reworked episodes 1-4 and 8-10 in the blu-ray release to match the quality of 5-7, but either way I find the animation to be solid throughout the entire show.
Loving the new opening and end plate and the camera is looking great, also this review was incredibly fair and well thought-out. Basically what I'm saying is good job all around.
Loving the new opening sequence for your videos Arkada.
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I'VE MISSED YOU
IT MAKES ME WANT TO CRY ;-;
Hellsing gets the same score a SAO, okay....
Yeah, Hellsing is way worse than SOA
AutomaticPython Not the OVA hellsing. Sword art online is absolute crap after episode 15. It pushes incest for the fans, its based on this crappy love story. It get rids of what made it awesome (the SAO setting). Kirito and Asuna follow character tropes (Sasuke and Sakura tropes) Of the emo lonely kid and the powerful independent woman that needs to be saved. The fanservice comes in hordes. And not the bad ass fanservice. Then SAO 2 pushes it even further with making Kirito a fucking woman. OH THE FANSERVICE!!! The entire plot behind is based of surrogate. Then the blue haired person also follows the character trope of this emo girl who learns to open her heart. The whole show looks like a 7 year old with debilitating autism wrote it. Hellsing is something that brings something new to the table. Alucard character is all over the place in a good way. The main bad guy is batshit insane, and the plot twist is great. Hellsing isn't a masterpiece but sure as hell better than SAO. Watch good anime like Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, FMA, any gundam except seed, Baccano, Eden of the East, Serial Experiments Lain, Psycho Pass, Gurren Lagann, Stein's Gate, Mushishi, Ping Pong the animation, NGE movies, ANYTHING BY GHIBLI.
+Tohru Adachi Both seasons of SOA get worse after the half-mile mark, true. It is an okey series, with enjoyable moments. Nothing major.
Alucard is a cool character, sure, but the show itself becomes rather boring. I was just glad it was over, and that says alot about something that short.
Nothing really stuck. The characters didn't go anywhere. Everyone just, is :P
I have watch alot of anime. Maybe not as much as you, sure as hell not as much as Arkada, but I have finished somewhere around 50 shows.
Ghibli, mediocre and overhyped (in my opinion). Good opening to those that have never seen an anime though. Might make them watch more.
AutomaticPython With Helsing it's debatable but ghibli is freaking art. Even people that don't like anime love ghibli. They surpass disney in every aspect. There is only one bad ghibli movie (directed by Hayao's son, who's a talent less hack)
+Tohru Adachi I know, that's why it's a good starter for newcomers (they are the animeworlds version of Disney), but I myself find the movies 'ok', nothing more. I will never say his movies are bad, just find them rather mediocre and extremly overhyped. I would rather watch a Disneymovie than a Ghibli one.
If you want beautiful movies it's Makoto Shinkai all the way. Storywise 'meh', but the movies are fucking beautiful.
at last! you've uploaded a review. feel's like i've been waiting for ages
I really love your reviews . You analyze everything that needs to be analyzed . I have been a fan of yours for a while now
Alucard is a fuckmothering vampire, he killed a lot of people to get that title and deserves to be called as such.
Spell Alucard Backwards. D-R-A-C-U-L-A. There you go :o
127jesjam you don't say?
127jesjam
i dont think you got what rose was referring to
127jesjam It was a hellsing ultimate abridged reference.
Bitches love cannons
i watched hellsing ultimate for like 6+ times and still wanna see it again wish they make more good animes like this
Production quality is going through the roof man! Great work!
Now that the announcement for the Review Week of Awesome has been released, I love how you include almost all of the RWA reviews in your intro segment. Keep up the good working!
How..did this get less than Sword art online ?
he ranked everything equally back then, so the music boosted it up GREATLY, after that video, he marked more seriously
because the scoring system is broken, he doesn't do it any more
basically, animation, sound, plot, entertainment, character development, they are all weight the same. for Hellsing, the character development department get nuke pretty bad (but of course, the show doesn't rely on that) so had different categories weight the same for difference seri isn't very good
SAO is well, average overall and did extra good on the animation and sound so it get high score
because everyone wants to here him say how sao is shit
starwarsfan117 got the same score
Because he's an idiot and likes shir anime with self insert Mary Sue's with Beyond horrible villains and one dimensional that only exist to tell tthe self insert how great he is better than actually good anime.
That intro forced the like from me......
Another great review, love you're work! Keep it going!!!!!!!
another amazing review Arkada, love the intro
You dare me to name a better Alucard voice? Takahata101. Nuff said.
Takahata has wonderful comedic timing. If he had to be the actual voice actor for the series however, Crispin Freeman blows him away.
Very true, the abridge dub is actually really good, and could replace the real actors and I wouldn't care a huge amount.
+lostbladder but there the same voice
Tanner P The real voice actor for Alucard and the actor in the abridged series for Alucard are 2 different people.
ik but there the same voice
Allacard would beat most Anime characters in 1v1 battles, but there is one character that he would most assuredly lose to. And that character is the most powerful of all anime characters: Haruhi Suzumiya.
Saitama
Giorno Giovana with GER.
kumagawa
Cory from Cory in the house
Luke William in hellsing the chatacter The Captain, werewolf, could defeat alucard... very even powers but alucard needs blood/souls... captain doesnt need a source of power... hard to say
So strange to look back into these videos, Arkada. You look so young here but the reviews are golden (and still is until now). Time really passes.
03202021
I love your reviews!
I'm gonna watch this at some point!
Better Alucard than Crispin Freeman, you ask?
Liam O' Brien.
His voice roles as characters like Emperor Madoras (White Knight Chronicles 2), War (Darksiders), and Caius Ballad (FF13-2) fit Alucard more than his roles as characters like Tenma (Monster) and Kariya (Fate/Zero).
I actually liked Matthew Mercer's Kariya a bit better. Granted we heard Kariya talk more in Fate/Zero than Fate/Stay Night, but still that is just my opinion.
Nak1895 ?????????
KARIYA????????????
Mathew Mercer: Kiritsugu
Crispin Freeman: Kire Kotomine
Liam O Brian: Kariya Mato
DeathgGod Woops my bad. Me can't think in morning. ;)
In that case, my new answer is maybe. Hearing O'Brien in my head now makes me kinda see it. I do agree with you though that he is another really top class voice actor, and I loved his portrayal as Kariya.
takahata101 does a great job with voice acting Alucard
Wait I got a better idea how about NO!
This anime can actually be pretty thought provoking... But you have to use your brain. And I know everyone is so very scared to do that. But yeah mostly blood and guts and questionable pacing for sure
I agree with that and about the questionable pacing, that's because in the first volume of hellsing there were a lot of side-story's which had time intervals between them. In the OVA these were compiled into one big flowing story. This leads to the questionable pacing of the series.
questionable pacing in which way? too slow or too fast? I can work with fast, but the slow pacing just kills me down, I would rather stay a bit confused because of pacing, but still a lot shit to happen, then for it to become "COME ON, move allready".
Lega
mostly in 4,5, and 6 i would say. They seemed stretched out.
TheEvaGuy Yeap, I've just came to episode 5 and dropped it there, but I also dropped because of reason which Tristan already said it, it is just about battle at London; I mean yeah that's okay and all, but when you hear all these characters talking about stories that happened 1000 years ago, yet they never show you actually anything, it kinda leaves me disappointed...
I love your cosplays, always keeping with the theme!
Wow i'm rewatching this and the begining has a ton of foreshadowing for the review week of awesome!
i love your channel so much you point out the good and bad in every show with a good explanation as to why and ur verdicts are normally the same as mine one thing i loved about this ep was that you pointed out every floor that hellsing had but said but do they really matter when u just look at what it is yes its not perfect but by no means bad and your correct it is just to watch when bored for fun because its great entertainment
I agree with what you're saying but damn, that text was hard to read without any punctuation.
SirAbblot ye sorry about that never been very good at it
cerberus189 No problem :p
They don't send Alucard to missions.
He just goes for a walk in the right places.
Your introduction to this video was magnificent. The Major!
My favorite thing about your reviews is how your comic timing has changed so much over the years, that usually your jokes slip by if I'm not paying attention. Because of that, what you did at the beginning of this pretty much made me die laughing, well done.
Nazi vampires? Kkk vampires? 10/10
Call them the Vatican knights.
simpsonsim07 Same thing really.
Bah-dum tish.
Wow why did I get 30 likes I just made a stupid comment XD
Senpai Pug
you must new here :)
Lord Zephyros Look wtf XD 45 likes.
And no I'm not new
Your opening was TOO FUCKING GLORIOUS OH MY GAWD
Major Gallant ... has a nice ring to it
and this is why i stay subbed. great video as always, keep it up.
Arkada! Thanks for this review!! You're doing a great job keep it up!
ROFL same score as SAO.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with this review my opinion is pretty much the same but seriously can anyone really say SAO is as good as Hellsing ultimate. It's hilarious if you put some of these score in order and try to use it to see which anime is better.
That makes no sense for him to have given that show that rating since he later on said a lot of it was shit.
sigh.... Did he say to buy SAO? NO ... The only reason these scores are similar is cause SAO may have developed its characters better, where in some cases Hellsing Ultimate doesn't even bother at all to do so. Like, every single character in Hellsing Ultimate is probably cooler than the coolest character from in SAO but in SAO characters get actually developed . Hellsing Ultimate may be an AMAZING SHOW in many aspects of it (which it is) but its also pretty shallow. Also SAO has better OST?? Doesn't change the fact I'll watch this show another 3 times before consider watching SAO
yugoxgc the way he's been rating anime as by seperating each aspect and scaling it down to the result for his definite score is so flawed. He needs to ax the rating system and review shows like his older vids again.
Maztuhmind Yeah I agree.. The problem is his subs are at fault here... I mean Pardon If I'm wrong but I think the reason he started putting those scores is cause ppl wouldn't shut up asking "How would you score it?" ... If you pay attention to the review you know should you watch the show or not, the score doesn't matter. If you care about the score you just skip to that so whatever. I mean if you watched Arkada long enough, you surely noticed the guy makes the score as ambiguous as possible. The score doesn't mean shit. its the review that matters
yugoxgc yeah that's true but if he's going to rate it, he should only do it on his personal enjoyment alone instead of using that system. It feels a lot more genuine to rate it that way. I know he does it the way he does it to make it look more objectionable or whatever to please his fans that get easily upset, but it really loses his credibility as a reviewer imo. You should have the balls to stick to what you like or dislike and not care if others don't like it.
The answer to every question made starting at 9:03 - I don't care, and neither should you.
Hellsing FTW
You did superb on that intro, you always have such great production values on this show I do thoroughly enjoy watching not necessarily for anime recommendations but to be entertained for a few minutes.
I think it'd be interesting if you reviewed the "Abridged Series" While not really your style because the animation is lifted I still want to hear what you think of the voice acting.
Been waiting for this!
not going to lie, I honestly prefer the dub to the sub of this show. the accent really make it pop.

Challenge Accepted.
Greg Ayres. BOOM. YOUR MOVE ARKADA
I don't know whether to applaud you or hit you for that answer
Okay, I just noticed you referenced the review week of awesome in the intro... All I can say is that's awesome :D
You finally Reviewed it! THANK YOU!
I love the honesty.
Takahata101........did I win?
Missed you Arkarda!
FINALLY!!! You have no idea how many kajillion years or whatever I had to wait for for this! 0,0

Saitama: “Hold my banana”
That intro was brilliant.
loved the video editing
Dude. I love your opening. Definitely surpassed your boundaries^^
I have to say that if you want to see a vampire anime that is done differently from most others, you should try the anime shiki.
I've just finished Hellsing Ultimate and it was fucking awesome like
I watched it was mid
I truly like your review and find them mostly entertaining than anything else. :D
Best reviewer on youtube! Great work!
hey glass reflection is it possible if I can get a link to the 2003 hellsing review. I wanted to see it but I can't find it on your channel.
I don't even know or care about this anime, but I really enjoyed this review.
I love how you began it. The old, 1930ish screen with your voice layover and just staring at your motionless (creepy expression) face for 1:20 was worth all of it xD
The intro was based on the Major's speech during the show, just adapted for anime instead of war. But yeah it was a great intro.
You should honestly care about hellsing ultimate.
I must admit that I did enjoy watching the first few episodes of the original series, until I couldn't find any more episodes subbed...
Great review!
Oh my.What an epic review from Arcada...
Now I know how you feel about shonen anime, but I would just love to know what you think about the OVA for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I know it's far from over and all, but I would like to hear what you think about it so far if you watched any of it by chance.
Hellsing makes Tokyo Ghoul and Deadman Wonderland kid's animation.
Very entertaining review! Great work GRArkada, thank you for your opinion on this show! :D
I expected you to give it a higher score based on your opinions man. Glad you finally got around to reviewing it tho. I loved this show immensely
In highschool, when 300 came out, everyone was gushing about how Leonidas was the biggest "BAMF" of all time. This phenomenon hit my theater club especially hard, with constant quoting ect... I just brought in my copy of Berserk, and told them they were wrong because they hadn't seen Guts. It was not long before everyone had watched Berserk, and were gushing about Guts.
Which makes me wonder... Alucard vs Guts. Sure Alucard is stronger, but Guts has this way of just powering through stronger opponents. I feel like he'd at least survive the encounter, cause he's survived worse.
The big thing with Alucard is that he posses the lives of everyone he has ever consumed the blood of. And while Guts has faced armies of foes, human or otherwise, most don't get a second shot at a fight. Not only does Alucard have near-immortality he will no doubt learn as the goes on, and since he is a vampire he won't suffer the strains of battle weariness or fatigue like Guts inevitably will. I don't doubt that the would be bloody and epic but my point goes to Alucard.
Blitzwaffen I'm not saying you're wrong, that would be stupid. But if any mortal stood a chance, I think it might be him.
TheCyberwoman It depends on your constraints of a mortal. There are plenty of anime with "mortal" characters that have capabilities that exceed power far beyond normal individuals and I'm not referring to Naruto, bleach, one piece, or dragon ball shows. Guts is certainly a Badass though.
(Cough) *Takahata* (Clears Throat) 13:09
I've been waiting for this
Haha... it was very funny when you said "gut" in the end. I'm german and I loved to see you try :D
I think most of the problems with Ultimate (most of which I heartily overlook) can be laid at the feet of the first director (Vol. 1-4). Most of the series' exposition and character development should have happened there and didn't because the guy was a newbie and didn't find his groove until episode 4. And it's not like Jaffe could go back and fix that.
Somewhere between the Hellsing series and Hellsing Ultimate lies the perfect animated version of Hellsing.
That said, I'm happy not to hear a critique of the ending. A lot of people seem to dislike it in the same way that people dislike Kill Bill Vol. 2. But the dialogue really is one of the highlights of the show, particularly when it's coming from The Major.
read the manga and you will find out that there is no more character development then in the Hellsing Ultimate series
Who would win Alucard vs Kenpachi?.... Neither , I would win ^-^
Gilgamesh couldn't actually kill Alucard, though...
***** I can chain him up for life
Gilgamish archer I don't believe so. He could just transform out of it. Besides, he's no divine being, so they wouldn't be super effective against him anyway.
***** hmm suppose Alucard was in fate world then Gilgamesh would not only me able to use he's gun's against him but also he would be immortal, because Alucard's strongest ability is he's immortality and ability to alter time.
So in the fate world a servants strongest ability is there Noble Phantasm and Gilgamesh can USE ALL SERVANTS NOBLE Phantasm,so he well be able to use Alucards immortality also^^
So it's a tie at best.
Gilgamish archer There is no such thing as "being in Fate world."
If they fought, that'd mean that their universes are the same, merged, which means that Gilgamesh would remain a Servant, and Alucard would remain a vampire, completely separate.
Alucard's ability is his ability. It's not a Noble Phantasm, as he is not a Servant.
you had me so excited at the start of the video.
Oh my gosh this review LOOKS amazing!
It was beautiful.
Do a review of Beserk, since you brought it up. You going over that ending would be delicious.
As an german this showed me how bad my motherlanguage can actually sound when japanese try to pronounce it.
i have watched your sepia intro 5 times now, its just so funny xD
Thank you for the awesome shoutout
Shouts out to mentioning berserk. Easily one of the best series ever. That includes all series that aren't anime/manga related.
Maztuhmind The greatest story ever told
I think one of the major issues is Hellsing: Ultimate is only 10 episodes long, 6 of the episodes having to explain all 13 of the original so a lot must have been condensed greatly and sadly story was sacrificed due to lack of episodes.
No. The original diverged from the manga while Ultimate follows it. Incognito is thankfully nowhere to be seen. Hellsing ultimate is to Hellsing what FMA brotherhood is to FMA.
Ezio Auditore whoa
See heres the thing though
Hellsing tv was bad even on its own
While fma tv was so amazing and well recieved in both countries that the very same company who made the first master piece of an anime brought us......that new anime for the purist....
Im not saying brotherhood is bad, its just that nobody will listen nor side with you when you say the original is better simply based off the logic that its the story "intended" or better yet its the "perfect" adaptation even though no one gives films like scott pilgrim shit for its book deviation(mostly because its approved by the book creator, same with fma) yet everyone will suddenly side with a book perfect remake-
which would,
1.diminish the quality of the first film/show
2. It no longer allows us to have the ability to have 2 seperate versions to enjoy
And
3. You are forced to into a position of "which one is the better show" especially when reccomending to others.
Idk, i just feel strongly about this shakey topic.(jesuotaku almost covered this topic)
I usually just say to people
Brotherhood forgets characters alot and that you show watch the Hues death episode for both shows, when you tell me which one made you cry. Thats the one i say is better
Hellsing, 13 episodes, each ~20 minutes long, a total of 260 minutes or 4 hours and 20 minutes.
Hellsing Ultimate, 10 episodes, each ~45 minutes long, a total of 450 minutes or 7 hours and 30 minutes.
Even if *HU* was based on H (I.e ignoring the manga), it would be impossible to call HU a "condensed version" of *H*.
DeathgGod I prefer Brotherhood over the original FMA and not because it follows the manga, which I haven't read. The original was great and is one of my top 10, but the ending felt rushed and neglected a lot of the supporting cast. The whole thing about the alternate universes felt like it was added in at the last minute and needed more episodes to explain. Brotherhood didn't handle the early parts as well, but everything after episode 13 is better, at least in my opinion. I especially liked how the climax gave every character a chance to shine and always stayed exciting. I do agree that Hues's death was handled better in the original, though.
***** Pretty much summed up how I feel about both.
OMG i already watched this in Japanese (i'm bilingual) and I was waiting so long for you to review this!
I have never watched an anime before. I came across a dubstep song with scenes from this and the visuals had me intrigued. I will check this out.
I own Hellsing Ultimate and I will be purchasing chapters 9 and 10 from Amazon here shortly. I think the series was done really well, and I have 3 Co-workers whom all have preceive All Anime as to be perverted soft core porn. They are now anime fans they range in age from mid 40s to early 50s. Not only was the script done extremely well, this series in my opinion is best to introducing people to Anime.
Yea, the original hellsing was one of the fist animes that I watched and I can say that it was very easy to understand... Everyone knows what a vamtire is and the other is just the awsomeness of Alucard.
Y'know what I kinda miss?
The alternate versions of Arkada. Remember in Princess Tutu where that gay version showed up? That was historical!
WAS THAT A BIOSHOCK STYLE INTRO???? BEST VIDEO EVER!!!!
I loved the Refrence to the Major / General in the intro!!!
