  • In my shoes with advanced dementia is a video I wanted to create to help caregivers and loved ones learn what a person in late stages might be going through. I have worked very closely with people with all stages of dementia for the past 15 years and wanted to share techniques to help those in the late stage of dementia. This includes all types of dementia: Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Lewy Body, Frontotemporal, Vascular Dementia and Early Onset/Younger Onset Dementia. How to talk to someone with dementia or Alzheimer's is a video I created to try to help others working with those with dementia.
I am working on creating other videos to pass on what I have learned (what works and doesn't work) when providing meaningful activities and caring for those with dementia. I hope some of these tips will help you and the person you are caring for. This video is created specifically for advanced, severe or late-stage dementia.
Please hit the red subscribe button below the video to see future videos with tips of meaningful activities I have found to actually work. I hope these videos will help you when caring for others with dementia.
    Thanks for watching!

Thankyou for this. My Mom has has dementia for about 10 yrs. She’s in a nursing home. She hasn’t known me the last 4 visits but this week she did know me. I brought a photo album and let her tell me who the people were.

I am so glad to see you watched this video. I am sorry to hear your mom hasn't recognized you recently. She will still feel great when you spend time with her, though, and having company is always wonderful for someone with dementia. They still feel the love and attention someone shows them. It's great the photos brought back some memories for her. She's lucky she has you.

I've got some much info in my head about dementia and so much I want to share...just haven't had time to create more videos. In time I hope to be able to do so.

Thanks Chris. I made this video when I first started my channel. I wish it had gotten out 'there' more. I think it would help a lot of people who have loved ones with dementia.
