Well done Brad, nicely explained, I've been running Lectron for 5 years, 2 on my yz250(07woods modified PNW style), then last 3 on my YZ250X, awesome, close to twice the fuel economy, and sick low end for up here in the greasy woods! cheers bro!
Danny D hell yeah!!! Glad to hear you’re in love with them as much as I am.
Why do you have 5 carbs for 2 bikes?
Twice as fuel efficient? So you’re considerably better mpg then an injected bike?
Danny I am running a 2001 rm 250, it has a weighted flywheel, a new top end, gnarly pipe. Pretty much is setup for more low end than top end. The bike was built by a guy who set it up fo gncc. I bought it from a guy who purchased the bike and couldn't handle the power. My issue is that I think this kid messed with the jets in it, it is a rocket on wheels from low to high it pulls the front wheel in fourth with no clutch just like it does in third. My issue is fuel consumption, I get about 45 minutes of ride time out of a tank of fuel and alot of splooge out the silencer, I have to repack my silencer every 8-10 hours because the oil burns the packing out of it. Since you have a lot of experience, do you think I could get the same performance with this carb without the fuel consumption or burned up packing everytime I turn around?
I'm not sure what your riding, about the same, my 2015 fuel injected yz250fx burned about the same amount of fuel as my 17 yz250x with lectron carb on same loops up here in hard enduro PNW woods, my yz250x with lectron burned 1.1 gallons on same loop as stock Keihin burned 2.1
Thank you for this much needed dumbed down simplified version. I GET IT NOW 😂
Fantastic. About 317 more watches of this video and I should be able to get it.👍
Flaccid Enduro I was thinking the same thing!
whats not to get? its just a carburetor.
I gotta say, this is the best Lectron video on CZcams, hats off.
I remember salivating over Lectron Carbs clear back in the mid seventies. These guys have been around for a long time.
Installed it on my 2017 KTM 250XC last night along with a VForce4 reed valve and I'm blown away. The throttle response and ability to pull from idle to redline in any gear without any hesitation or bogging is totally amazing. I'd put it up against any FI system anywhere anytime. I'm completely impressed.
Thorough explanation without being boring or taking too long.
Nice!
dicaenus glad you think so! Took lots of planning to squeeze everything in and keep it flowing
I grew up across the street from Lectron back when they were called lake injectors. Everybody used them, go-carts,mini bikes. It is the best carb going. Ran them on my pro stock kaw. They put out more horse power than anything else. Crazy simple I built drag bikes for 28yrs. would not use anything but Electron even have one on my 68 electra glide!
Worth every penny especially in alberta Canada where elevation changes all the time great video berad! Very well explained
Cj Harrison absolutely!! Thank you ❤️
My KDX220R has one of the Lectron H series carbs. What a difference vs the stock Keihin. That low-end grunt is nutty. Amazing on trail. Pulls like a freight train all the way to the top with smooth transition all the way.
Just bought a Lectron for my XR650R and wish I knew about these when I had my CR smoker, especially for the desert or woods riding with elevation changes. I agree...No more Freakin Jets! What a great explanation and video.
Dude... excellent excellent breakdown and explanation. 5 stars 🤘
I’ve seen theses lately on some rebuild videos and now this has convinced me to give it a go 👍
Have one on a DR650. Took 45 min to get it dialed in but bulletproof ever since. The peace of mind knowing there will be no fiddling with the stock carb no matter where I ride is good enough - add in the engine performance and I would never not have a lectron if I had the option.
How is it off idle like slow technical trails? I too have a DR, and if you ask on the forums peeps are kinda divided.
@@intrigue175175 No issues off idle. Torque from the start.
Admittedly there are mixed reviews around the forums. Not sure if I got lucky or if it’s in the tuning.
I've had my Lectron on my Beta 300RR Race edition for a little over 2 years now and love it. Here in Utah I ride from 3k to 11k ft and have never had an issue. The bike runs great everywhere and every season. If course at elevation especially above 8k you will notice a power drop but any naturally aspirated engine will lose power due to the lack of oxygen in a given volume of space.
I also live in Utah and have been looking into this carb. I ride AF, Hobble Creek, 5 mile pass, and Solider Pass mostly. How have you set up your carb? I also have a Beta 300 :)
My buddy let me try a set of these on my Ducati Monster 750 and holy hell they are nice. All these people complaining about price have never taken carbs off of a bike 20-30 times to get the tuning perfect. You pay for convenience. Worth it in my opinion.
It's a old comment but I fully agree. Having to rip my carb off to clean it or swap jets out is horrible especially when your trying to keep metal shavings out of the carb or any loose materials that could block jets.
Great video! Thanks for the explanations and pictures, really helped to understand it.
Thanks for this video I learned a lot! Just put the new H series on my cr250 and I honestly can’t believe the performance gains
Nice information packed and concise video mate. Well done.
Had a Lectron on my Kato 3hungy from new 🤙 Worth every dollar 💰
Awesome vid 👍
Excellent presentation, great vid well done on footage and deiting
Such a good descriptive video, thanks a LOT!
I used to use lectron carburetors on all my RD 400 builds back in the 70s they kicked ass
I bought one from your site. I ride a ‘07 CR 250. Since getting this AMAZING carb, my enjoyment of riding has gone THRUOGH THE ROOF! She IDLES, PULLS HARD, AND LUGS like a MONSTER! Still fine tuning it, but LOVING IT!
MAHALO
Another outstanding video Brad. Thankyou for this one for sure.
🍻✊😉👍🍻
That riding was lit🔥🔥
Awesome carb thanks B Rad
Really well done video! Subscribed!
I ran a rack of four 38mm Lectrons on an oil cooled gsxr 1100 (1277) back in the early 90’s. I tried all the flat slides and nothing compared to Lectrons. Back then they didn’t even have an idle circuit and with a sidewinder exhaust your bike would sound like a pro stock. Total bad ass! Paul Gast proved the carbs worth years ago on the H2 Kawasaki.
Great video! Love my lectron on my KTM 300 2 smoke!
Absolutely shredding in that creek, sick riding! Damnit I wish I hadnt learned about this carb. Sounds like the '21 DRZ400 that I still haven't received will be costing me a little more than I thought haha.
I have one on my 17 TE300 and it made a huge difference in performance and mileage.
Nice explanation. Best one on the web. Thanks
Good riding mate 😀👍cool carb
BeRAD the science guy. Great video best one I've seen explaining how a lectron works thanks :)
Good explanation! Been wanting one on my 300 for a while now.
Danny Compton just let me know if you have any questions! I’d love to set you up with one and would appreciate the business. (:
Very good explanation.
I went from f.i. 4T to carb'd 2T - Lectron made me feel much better about the transition, may as well be f.i. - smooth and no adjustment needed. I ride 4k-12k'
My 1964 CB72 had power-jet carbs, they worked very well. I think they were Keihins. The power jet was fixed, and had to be changed to vary top-end mix as required.
That's pretty sweet. Excellent explanation
I have one on my 17 Husqvarna TE300 and it works great.
Very cool! Thanks for the info!
Excellent explanation
I ran ONE of these on my yamaha banshee in the mid nineties. Ran awesome.
Great description
Had them on my Kawasaki triple . They work great!
Finally a real carburetor!!!!! Its perfect
I put one of these on my CR500 many years ago
dam I still wish I had it
Awesome video!
Killer vid Broski! You definitely know your shit
Thank you so much for clarifying. Just bought mine
But not through me?!? That’s whack yo! Lol
Sorry man I saw this after the fact
Very well done video.
Im late as hell, but this is such a well done video.
Had one on an old 65 Sporty, bought another at a swap meet for about $5 just for a spare plastic bowl.
Well I just ordered one from you because of your video so nice marketing!
So this is just a bigger version of a R/C Nitro engine slide carburetor...I like it!
Simply amazing!
Great explanation!👌
Mxrider2stroke Braaap thank you! Glad it helped

My bike is fuel injected, but I watched this video anyways. Good job on the explanation. Did you cut that lectron your self or did they send you one that way?
These things are freaking awesome!!! I want one
Saving up Now for one of my Banshee's.. my friend has them on his and . Wooow Does it Make a Difference 👍
My wife has a Lectron Vibrator, how does it work
she ain't satisfied wit u m8.
my condolences 😢
Haha
I thought it was Direct injection
Omg 😂
I'll let you know.
I need a lectron so bad I'm going to get one from this guy
Neat. I like carbs. I like TBI. I like EFI. I’m happy someone is making hybrid carbs.
I removed the EFi and brain off of my raptor 700 and installed a lectron 58mm dual jet. This carb screams harder than any other fuel system I've used
Beautiful design! where was you 20 years ago? Now I have to buy a bike and then the carb 😁
Great video. Is that you riding? Very impressive riding skills.
Excellent explanation.
Can these carbs fix the notorious tuning issues with the old YZ490s?
Hey man, so my lectron has been amazing for offroad and technical stuff, but ive been riding a bit more track and I find it not getting on the pipe as fast as id like without having to pop the clutch a bit , how would I adjust that? The power jet? Ik you mentioned it gives more mid-top I would just try adjusting but I want to be sure I dont harm my engine by doing the wrong thing. Thanks for all the help you've given me in the past!
How would this compare to the Smart Carb? Have you done a review on the Smart Carb?
Old 2T + Lectron = More reliable, lighter, simpler, fuel efficient, cheaper, and more fun than any new injected 4t or 2t =]
carlin hicks you don’t know anything about fuel injection and carburetors.
Yea wait till your precious "$400 lithium" battery dies and you have no kick start. Or just wait till your 40 miles down some trail and your oil pump takes a shit. No thanks, ill stick to old school anyday
Excellent
My question is how would they do on some of the earlier models of four strokes that came with carburetors!?
We have a Lectron carburetor on our 2002 Kawasaki KDX220R and it works great! Only issues is the needle sticks closed if the bike sits for an extended time. Any suggestions on how to solve the issue? We had the carburetor rebuilt by Lectron and still have this issue. Thank you! 🤙🏻
Amazing.. how about main jet and pilot jet? Is that adjustable or need to change for setting? Sorry for my poor english
I have dumped about 2 grand into my 1999 kx250 in bearings, top and bottom end, radiators, chain sprockets, and everything else. Just to find out it wont kick over for some reason which I believe is the carb even after it's been off the bike and cleaned and reassembled. If for some reason I have to ditch the carb, this will be the last piece im getting haha. Looks sick.
Lonewerewolf777 may as well just kick that stock carb to the curb already haha. I’d appreciate the business! Let me know if you have any questions brad@berad-products.com
This I'm interested in!
2 Stroke are back!!
Nice I'm defidentally buying
Seems like on an RD 400 Twin you could improve by running ONE of these over the 2 mikunis with a custom intake made up 🤘
Awesome, this should have been the standard on bikes a long time ago!.
It was. Back in the sixties.
@Keith Peterson Dyno sheets or it did not happen.... and we are not really looking at peak power, but the broad power band.
@Keith Peterson OK as I don't have dyno results personally to back up my statement, it might be fairer to say that the Lectron that is set up correctly does not have to be rejetted or retuned for changing conditions. If a standard carb in a perfect controlled environment is tuned to peak performance then I could accept the possibility that they might out perform the Lectron. But out in the real world when comparing lap times, the Lectron usually wins, and you don't have to mess with jetting ever again. Plus it gets way better fuel mileage, which for XC races and trail/fun riders is a big deal. Even if I had to trade off a slight HP loss, knowing the Lectron is dialed in for any condition I will ride in vs having to change out jets on a standard carb is worth the trade off for me.
Keith Peterson are they good for new riders on one cyl bikes that just want reliability and to avoid paying mechanics ?
I’ve had the worst luck with car mechanics. I hate going to Mechanics.
Need one of these for my rm125
Great video and well spoken. I have the 300 ktm xcw 2017 and did install the same lectron carb, what did your metering rod measure? Note with the 4-1 needle, I got mine set at 50.8mm feels less responsive at the 1/8throttle position. Hope to hear from you.
Carlos Da Silva sounds like you bought from Slavens? Lol. Just a guess because of the 4-1 rod. Order a 4-2m and install it. See if that works better. That’s what is recommended to use for your bike. My yz’s run a 4-2 so the lengths can’t really be compared.
Fantastic video I'd like to get for a kdx200. What other parts do I need to make everything work. Also with this work on a Benelli volcano 180cc. Or any other Benelli mini bike s
I wonder why mine don`t work XP na I`m just kidding :P btw is the outside diameter alot bigger on the 44mm? the side that goes against the reed? I`m kinda leaning agaist a 44mm now for my brc 500
How much of an incline installation angle (down draft) can the carb tolerate before it messes up the fuelling? Also, are they available in racks for inline 4 cyl four stroke bikes?
Looks quality, would like to put 4 of them on my volkswagen rabbit..😉👍
I was thinking about a car application. Would work well.
That highlighter yellow on black bike is a bad ass lookin bike.....
I am seriously thinking of getting one of these for my KTM 640 Adventure. I have an FCR 41 now and it is such a pain in the ass to tune on that bike. How do these perform on big 4 stroke singles? Will I miss the accelerator pump? And what about choke?
I have one on my Husqvarna 65 and it works
WIsh I had one of these when I rode 2smoke! Would have enjoyed it more
This thing is freaking genius.
Poor idling on a YZ125X with recommended Lectron carb. The float bowl is possibly leaking as dust sticks to the bowl easily. Any idea's to solve poor idle/staling all the time.
Sooo much better than a stock carb😎👍
Nice video and explanation. thanks! I'm curious, if anyone knows... With the "power jet", how does it not suck up fuel through it when the throttle is closed? I would think the vacuum would want to suck it right out... or is the bowl under the same vacuum at idle too?
The slide must be lifted above the end of the PJ nozzle. If it is below it, there’s just not enough airflow at the top to create the Venturi to suck the fuel through the line.
I see why it appeals to 2 strokes where jetting is more sensitive and a pita searching for that sweet spot
if you want a leaner or richer mixtur do you have to adjust both the metering rod and the power jet or just the power jet is alright?
Those carbs look amazing!!!! I wish my broke ass had the money for one. Very well presented sir! Hit me up if you feel like sponsoring me one of those... I’ll rock it on my dunes bike, and brag about it to my friends!!!
On a four stroke, how much down draft angle can the carb be installed at before it messes up the fuelling?
Unbelievable. I'm a carb newbie. I was sent here from one of Shadetree Surgeon's videos after he mentioned the Lectron. This basically just turned it into a "must-have" carb. So simple! And really well put together. THANK YOU!
right on man! Just email me any questions, let's get you set up!
