  • In this 8th episode of my "Unique Connection Series", I take a truly unique connection, that will actually have me connect twice hence the "s" in the title at the end of 'connection'. I will be stopping in two EAS communities; Alpena, Michigan, and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan which are the 42nd and 43rd EAS communities I have visited respectively.

    For this trip, I will be taking a Delta Connection CRJ-200 that is operated by SkyWest. This route is truly unique as it only lasted for less than a month, from Sept.12-Oct.5 . Enjoy the views, facts, information, and exact passenger numbers at each stop along the journey.

    While taking a Unique Connection definitely isn't the fastest way of getting where you need to go, not by a long shot, it may certainly be the most fun and scenic way of flying. Next time you fly, connect somewhere new, you may just like where you end up.

    I flew a CRJ 200 a couple of times this year I did miss it for a second then I realized how cramped and hard it is to look about the window. But I will always have fond memories of it especially the taking off and the sound of the engines when it flies. Where I am at now it’s all CRJ 700-900’s along with Embraer 175’s.

    That aircraft is unique! Skywest has a CRJ200 and 700 painted and branded for SkyWest. They do that, and have a traditional cabin, that way the aircraft can be utilized on all 3 major airlines at anytime.

    interesting to see that second airport with its singular jetbridge...

    • @GerardiAviation
      @GerardiAviation  Před rokem

      Yeah, a lot of smaller EAS airports do have a single jetbridge… and some EAS airports have more than one which is even weirder given they only see two flights a day

    The CRJ’s 200, 700 and 900’s don’t have reverse thrusters.

    • @GerardiAviation
      @GerardiAviation  Před rokem

      I would respectfully disagree, I’ve seen all of those types with thrust reversers. However the DoJet doesn’t have any and some smaller ERJ’s also don’t

    why such a long ground time

    • @GerardiAviation
      @GerardiAviation  Před rokem

      I know the flight was shorter than it was scheduled to be, so maybe we just arrived early and added more time to the ground time

    • @GerardiAviation
      @GerardiAviation  Před rokem

      Stuff like that is tough. You kinda have to do separate bookings cause it doesn’t work on a double connection. Book XXX-DTW-APN-CIU, then under a separate booking do CIU-MSP-XXX

    CIU and APN were both military bases once with long runways meaning you won’t need reverse thrusters on such a long runway

    • @GerardiAviation
      @GerardiAviation  Před rokem

      That’s true, CIU isn’t using a big chunk of the runway now. But I would think they would try to use the thrust reversers instead of wearing out the brakes quicker

    • @GerardiAviation
      @GerardiAviation  Před rokem

      It was definitely more expensive than the nonstop, but honestly not by much and was totally worth the extra time/stops
