Convert Tamiya Grasshopper to "Trailing Arm" just like real 80s dune buggy 타미야 그래스호퍼 80년대 트레일링암으로 개조

- many grasshopper fans challenge to modify grasshopper for less hopping and better ride, however my intent of conversion is slightly different. Hopping is acceptable considering the characteristic of hopper, but what I see from the box art is that this car was originally a trailing arm based buggy! just like many realy volkswagen based dune buggies.
I always wanted to build a proper trailing arm based grasshopper just like frog or wild one, and finally I think I have accomlished this target. Since 2020, I have built many versions of trailing arm designs for grasshopper, and this time I think some of the key problems that bugged my for long time have been fixed. Check out what I have done to fix this issues as well as why I am so obsessed in this conversion work. Thanks!

타미야 그래스호퍼는 박스아트를 보면 원래 트레일링 암인게 분명합니다. 실제 80년대에 출시된 많은 타미야 2륜 버기의 모델이 되는 폭스바겐 샤시 베이스의 듄 버기들을 관찰해 보면 트레일링 암이 기본이죠. 최근 출시된 타미야의 BBX라는 레트로룩 버기도 리어에 트레일링 암을 채용했습니다. 트레일링 암 베이스의 그래스호퍼를 만들어 보고 싶다는 어릴적 희망 때문에 3D 프린터를 배우고 나서 이걸 계속 하고 있습니다. 이번에는 최종 버전이면 좋겠는데, 좀 더 테스트 해 봐야 겠지만...여튼 많은 부분이 개선된 MK3 버전을 만들었습니다. 그동안 이 트레일링암 컨버전 키트가 어떻게 개선되어 왔는지, 어떻게 만드는건지, 왜 이걸 계속 만드는건지? 등 총 망라해서 정리해 보았습니다^^
솔직히 요즘은 회사일이 너무 바빠서 알씨라이프에 상당한 영향이 있습니다. 시간을 거의 못내고 있어요 ㅎㅎ그래도 먹고사는게 우선이겠죠? 그러다 보니 영상 업데이트가 너무 늦어지네요~ 이해 부탁드리고, 최대한 빨리 정상궤도로 복귀하겠습니다!

Great stuff! I'm in the process of redesigning the Frog gearbox to get the motor further inboard with a reversed pinion.

@@HumbleVintageRC the 540 motor can clearly move over 10mm inboard with just a change in mounting. Most brushless 28mm diameter motors are more powerful than the 540, and shorter. Plus, the smaller diameter means they can be moved down. The goal is to get the motor inside the body without the huge 540 sticking out the side!
@@bs0u0155 that is exactly why I moved the motor in also. frog , wildone and many other lower end tamiya buggies tend to put motor way too outside, the balance of car hurts and sometimes as the vehicle gets older, motor drops down a little bit due to the gravity^^

@@TimeAttackRCno I havent really😮 one of the main target that I had during the conversion was to reuse stock parts as much as possible so I really didnt think about it^^; yes that would be a good idea but may require some time for me 😅

Hi! thank you buddy! I havent tried it but I kmow that grahoo have put better gears from tamiya trf options or maybe other touring car gears. My intention was to create a conversion kit that requires minimum cost so I really didnt considered it, but I am sure you can find grahoo’s work with some searches!

Hi thank you for your interest! I dont plan to sell those parts since I still think its experimental, 3d printed parts are good for normal run but may not endure hard runs as many fun users do.
So, will this mod will work for the GH1 as well?
