  • Hi guys, in this video we learn how to play Flowers Never Bend with the Rainfall by Simon and Garfunkel.
To play along to the Paul Simon songbook version, play without a capo. For the Simon and Garfunkel version, it’s capo at 2nd fret.
    Have a great day :)

Sam your a class act! For a lad your age you hold yourself brillaintly and love your ecclectic taste! Also teaching in the laid back way that you do is definitely more approachable.
Good luck with uni and hope you get back to the good work youve been doing! Much appreciated sam, many thanks

I for the life of me can't get the Travis pic down, I can play it fast but it's like, I don't know the timing of it which just makes it sounds off

I like this, but I think your intro riff is slightly wrong. The first three notes are A, D, E (x3), not A C# E.

Whats the last chord in the original Song?

I've been trying to find that out myself

Ì think it's roughly an Am9 but with a few other notes or a unique voicing. It's so mysterious and beautiful

I've been trying to figure that chord out for almost 60 years! I think it must be overdubbed, I think of it as an A7 with added C-natural. I usual play this song in A (as here) but without capo. Possibly the final chord is easier with capo 2. It's the Lost Chord 🙃

Well I've been trying to work that chord out for nearly 40 years as well. One of life's little mysteries! It's the reason I came to this video!

Hi Ray, unfortunately I'm quite busy with university work at the minute so it might take while to get to your suggestion. In the meantime, I recommend this chord sheet: tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/gilbert-osullivan/alone-again-naturally-chords-1858355. It's in a reasonable key for guitar, negating a lot of the difficult and awkward chord shapes some other sheets suggest. I think a travis pick would sound good over the chords, or a simple strumming pattern such as D D D U D played somewhat swung. You change chords pretty much every four beats, so you would play that pattern once before moving chords. Hope that helps :)
