When you think about it "Operator records" aren't "operator interactions" but just random pieces of lore and dialogue that aren't necessarily meant for the Doctor, let me explain:
Elysium's basic third talk is explanation how to get to the library, while Mint's first talk is a request to manually lead her to the library because the last person she asked for directions talked like a little bi4 and she couldn't understand anything.
Also W's third branch of text with the Sarkaz boiler worker was just small part of the recent "Vigro event" (in CN) where W's tells him that she is preparing to head out for Londinium.

All right, CN player here, I have been studying the background and official lores a lot in my spare time. Here is one thing I can assure all of you: *Gravel is no chance ever to be a traitor, and for Platinum, most likely not* . And below are the evidence I have.
I feel like this video has already spent 3/4 of the time explain for Platinum and did a really amazing job, so I will talk about Gravel.
In Maria Nearl event, at the end of the story, Gravel showed up. Not just that she showed how clearly she saw through the Kazimierz's spoiled side and showed how despicable she felt, she also said, "The people from Rhodes Island seem to have arrived." At that point it is clear that she was representing Rhodes Island to Kazimierz, we can see who is the one on the opposite side here.
    *SPOILER Alert*
In Gravel's Operator Record, Gravel was in Marcin's bar and fought a bounty hunter (instant kill) upon a "trafficked girl". Some of the secrets has been revealed. It was claimed that Gravel's old man blong to Maytree family's eldest knight, who was said to be a "Big Role" by Bald Marcin (Apparently Gravel is close with Marcin just as the Nearls are). She was also said to help the surrounding village around Kazimierz to expel the bounty hunters (said by the "girl" she saved in the story), and trying to find out any trace of where she was carried from (said by Gravel herself). One more thing pointed out is because of Gravel, there are no more kids been kidnapped to Kawaleriaki, the city where the Maria Nearl event took place.
The conversation below was translated by myself, it expresses same meanings as the original text.
In the conversation between she and her old man (I think his name is Gekoski?), she said * "I...... will go to Rhodes Island. I will follow him." * (I think everyone knows who "HIM" is) When Gekoski asked her if she has told "him" her real name, she said: * "Not yet. I need to confirm by myself again, make sure he didn't lie to me, or try to use me to process some evil plan." *
After all, the bar thing is a dream (In which the conversation with Gekoski is her flashback, not the dream), as Gravel actually fell asleep in Doctor's office. That "girl" was actually Gravel's past. She had the same dream over and over again. At the end, she hope she could find some time to go back to Kazimierz with Doctor. We can see that Gravel actually choose to follow Dokutah not just because she is in love (as so many time she mentioned, "hahaha, are you feeling shy?" And in her profile, * "...since her reason for being here is obvious to everyone." * ), but maybe also because she sees what Dokutah wishes to achieve and what he's capable to achieve.
    At last,

I've been mulling over an alternate theory for Gravel. It's entirely possible that she's suffering from Disinhibited social engagement disorder. DESD is one of the ways that people can cope with childhood abuse (typically neglect during the first two years of life or lacking a primary caregiver). People with the condition tend to be hyperactive; lack respect for or understanding of social boundaries; ask inappropriately personal questions; engage in age, culture, or relationship inappropriate touching (more of a problem with later childhood vs adulthood); and are quick to trust or form bonds with strangers.
It most commonly develops among orphans housed in communal living arrangements with high caregiver to child ratios and among children raised by frequently absent single parents. Gravel's backstory could put her at similarly high risk.
It would explain why she kisses people to say hello, shows such an interest in our personal lives, and trusts us with something so precious to her despite not knowing her for very long. The Doctor could have done something very minor that most people would have recognized as courtesy that she misinterpreted which could be enough to trigger the kind of deep affection for and devotion to the Doctor.
I don't know if that's more or less likely than her plotting to kill us, but I do think it's even sadder. In Arknights, that seems to be as good evidence as any.

This is something (particularly with Gravel) I’ve wondered about a lot too, and your video has inspired me to refine my own theory. Sorry that this is a bit long, I’m just really into this sort of thing!
Personally, Gravel’s love for the Doctor (at least in the romantic sense) has always struck me as far too exaggerated to be genuine. Arknights writers tend to go for very realistic characterization rather than leaning on tropes-so Gravel seemingly being “head over heels” for the Doctor from the first instant they meet was an immediate flag to me that those emotions are not genuine. I mean, really! An assassin appears out of nowhere, gets up in your personal space, and then volunteers to be your “bodyguard”? That sounds to me like extending an invitation to get yourself, you know, *assassinated*.
…That much, though, seems to not be the case. Instead, I believe that Gravel’s exaggerated romantic mannerisms are intended to keep the Doctor off-balance around her while simultaneously making herself seem a bit silly-and thus more easily dismissed as harmless, and able to actually get that job as the Doctor’s bodyguard. But it was your vid pointing out her clear interest in what the Doctor is *doing* (and not simply more exaggerated faux-flirtation) that is the final piece of the puzzle to me:
I believe Gravel is gathering information on us not because she is *currently* a spy, but because, due to her background, she is intensely used to fending for herself in a world where all relationships are monetary/transactional (i.e. Kamizierz). Gravel-or rather, Senomy-began life as a slave, and had to work her way to knighthood to earn her freedom; even then, as a knight she was still a tradable commodity.
…So, with all that, of COURSE Gravel wants a safety net of information she can sell; this sort of thing is probably almost reflexive for her. However, that also explains the seemingly extremely genuine emotion that comes from her sharing her true name with us-and with that, at last dropping the “tee hee so flirty” act. Perhaps, she has finally learned she is safe here, and can (200%) trust us.
…And then there’s Platinum. While I think her feelings are genuine too (and more genuinely romantic), whew I think you’re right that she’s primed for betrayal. How could my horse wife hurt me like this…

    • @Fizzyon71
      @Fizzyon71 Před 3 lety +2

That's a pretty good theory. Personally, I would not get anywhere near someone who is former assasin for a while or until they can be trusted

    • @Kurochana
      @Kurochana Před 3 lety +16

That is a nicely fleshed out theory, I like how you thought about her origins influencing her worries and behavior.
Her fatal femme trope made it difficult for me to see past her exterior, whereas the unlockable dialogues and files really helped reinforce her standing in my mind.
I am not certain about the legitimacy, but there is a theory floating around that Gravel could be rescued from slavery by the doctor in the past before he lost his memory, which would nicely explain why she was so immediately outgoing with us.
Additionally, since you recruit/meet her after you start the game with your memories lost, she might feel like this is finally her chance to put her heart into a kiss with you. The doctor was kidnapped before this and there was a non zero possibility that the doctor could have died, so if she doesn't do it now, who's to say that she'll get a chance in the future? Maybe the absence of the doctor triggered a "I wish I mustered the courage to do it before he disappeared..." mentality.
As a final note, I would like to bring attention to her trust tap line as well as her operation failure line :
"Yes. I'm right here, always and forever."
      "Sorry… did I… mess up again…?"
The first line could be considered a yandere trope, but somehow I want to think that there is more to that than just a trope, which I'd like to add that AK in general has done a pretty good job from diverging from simply playing out tropes by gacha standards. It implies that she has somehow already known you for some time.
The second line implies that she has messed up before in the past, this could just be a simple "mission failed, we'll get 'em next time" but considering the context of the character, I think it is a powerful reinforcement to the idea that she has messed up and lost you once in the past, the past before you lost your memories, perhaps even the kidnapping itself...
I could be entirely wrong and there may be some evidence that I missed out, I would like to be proven wrong if you have any evidence against it, not that it is a challenge but because I want to know more about this surprisingly deep character.
%Edit% : Ooof, while I was closing the wiki page after writing this comment I had a quick glance and noticed the words of her potential token :
"A badly worn Kazimierz knight badge. No matter what happened in the past, seizing the here and now is what really matters."
At first it might seem like its just a reference to her slave past, but what if, just what if it also brings subtle shadings to the idea that there was something significant in her past with the doctor too! UOOOOOOOH how exciting, but I should stop for now as I've written too much haha.

One thing I'd like to mention that you've not said in the video is that Gravel is part of the S.W.E.E.P team, which as far as I know, was formed by Kal'sit specifically to identify and execute any potential treason attempts against Rhodes Island, so that an incident like Babel doesn't happen again.
Additionally, while I'm not too certain about this myself, there is a theory going around that Gravel was saved from slavery or something similar back before he lost his memory, hence her kiss might be a chance for her to finally express her feelings for doctor. With him losing his memory maybe she feels like she can finally do it, or to do it because the doctor was missing for some time and if she doesn't do it now, who's to say she'll ever get a chance to finally get to it.
I really like the AK lore and storytelling that goes with operators in general, it is written rather realistically for waifu gacha standards and I really like how most operators maintain a professional relationship or one of trust instead of having romantic feelings as a default.

After having carefully studied chapter 8, I can confidently say if Kal'tsit is involved, then something about Platinum is playing into a bigger game. She is incredibly callous and tactical in her social interactions. I daresay she could pass off as a complete sociopath and only cares about Amiya and Theresa. Everything else she approaches purely with logic and a tactical evaluation and I have not once seen her be even remotely surprised throughout the story so far. If anything, you are very likely onto something regarding Platinum just from the fact that Kal is involved in and off itself.

Noooooo!! Don't make my favorite operator Platinum a traitor!!!!
But in reality, I don't believe in that theory just yet. Kal'tsit is known to be extremely astute, and most certainly in favor of protecting the Doctor so long as he seems to not be his old self. If she suspected there was any spying or chance of traitors, Kal'tsit would likely have them dealt with or otherwise ensure the situation is avoided altogether.
In terms of Leizi, there's actually a small line in Chapter 8 that reveals what her fate with the Censor was. She was mentioned in a line as being a "down-and-out exile," meaning that something must have happened to have her essentially stripped of rank and kicked out of the Censor. This was coming from Kaschchey of all people, who is also renowned for being extremely astute and observant of situations as they develop (perhaps not to Rhodes Islands extent, though). So I'm inclined to believe the only reason Leizi is allowed to remain a member of Rhodes Island is because of the fact her relations to the Censor deteriorated.
I'd love to go on and on about how the Japanese laud the idea of Fate, and that it's a very common trope in their writing, but I don't think we need to use that point in this case since the other two are probably good enough until we get more information. However, it's worth mentioning since it would make sense for the current Platinum to be following in the romantic footsteps of her progenitor.
Thank you for listening to my TED talk on how Platinum is definitely head-over-heels for you.

I think Gravel might have genuine feelings for the Doctor, but Platinum definitely doesnt.
Just look at how she acted in Maria Nearl, she doesnt care about anything besides her orders.
There is also the way they go about it, Gravel is too blunt. Her stalker-ish beheaviour is too risky to be a ploy to get closer, the Doctor could be weirded out or she could get expelled. Meanwhile Platinum is much more subtle. As you said, she began getting close to the Doctor after her staring contest, doesnt that sound like she does so to ensure the Doctor wont be convinced by Maria and Zofia to kick her out?
I think they were both sent to spy, but I also believe they were sent by different factions of Kazimierz, due to the Maria Nearl epilogue and final email.
However I will refrain from speculation since I cant remember the details. Lets just say I'm convinced Gravel is like Sirayuki and Platinum is here to finish what she started in Kazimierz.

Rhodes Island does have some "special forces" in the ranks of Operators that act as internal security and spies/assassins checking system - they can be placed into Command Room for -0,05 happiness consumption reduction. Only a few people knows that they do this job - Doctor, Amiya, Kal'tsit and other members, if I am not mistaken. I don't think that either of their motives is to assassinate the doctor. First of all, if it's true that gravel used to be a slave and wasn't given that identity, then her boss/owner would have instructed her to go for the kill as soon as she had the chance (not concerning that she might be killed in the process). Second, since kaltsit isnt a fool she probably would have cought on to any irregularities that platinum might have displayed and maybe have set a trap to test platinums intentions. As for the possibility that they are trying to sabotage something, it's gotta be something big and interesting if they not only sent an assassin but also the platinum.

one thing i want to throw into the mix:
assassins/ninjas were not only meant to kill/sabotage, more often then not (at least with ninjas) they gather information.
considering the relatively small size of rhodes island, anyone worth the weight in originium prime can see the impact this small "company" has had throughout terra so far.
The armorless union of kazimierz isn't stupid, they just want to make sure they've got a tab on rhodes island initially,
the way i see it, and use their agents for more active action when it's necessary, in case any future endeavours or investment might get threatened by RI.
Whether either of them actually fall in love remains to be seen, maybe plati will get a change of heart and get an alt, going full thirsty thot knight for the dokutah (would be fun to see)
but as it stands right now, i've never fully trusted either of them.
