Girl, the 1st 2 seconds my brain read this I thought it was gonna be for a tool and nearly choked on my chocolate milk when I saw 60%
I definitely needed a Tamar video today! Everything I tried to do today just turned to s@#£... I just about chucked my tools out the door! Unlike you I don't have a workshop yet...since I don't live alone I can't just do what I want. So I have been going around grabbing roadside "ritches " and free stuff off marketplace trying to start my own workshop and storage to start my own woodworking business repurposing items...this summer I have lost sooo much time to rain! I'd swear I live in nova Scotia but we are not supposed to have a monsoon season and I'm pretty sure I didn't move to a rain forest...sigh.
I really needed the laugh from seeing you on the skateboard. I thought I was the only person who used one for a dolly! Thanks for the laughs and inspiration!
My jaw dropped when you said you sprained your ankle too! I'd spent the whole day collecting free wood and stuff with my oldest son. I pushed past my limits bcuz weather is killing my time...plus I'm excited to be preparing for my new workshop. When we got home my runaway teenager had decided to come back unannounced (we don't get along...breaks my heart). As you can imagine I was distracted...when I realised I forgot something in the car. I made the mistake of turning around on the steps. My stupid bad hip said screw you I'm done for the day! It randomly let go and down I went...my hair got caught in the fencing effectively pinning me to the ground. All I heard was awful cracking...thought for sure I broke something as it was my second fall in a month...same ankle. Over extended my left arm...😢. I would not wish my bad luck on anyone (ok maybe bad guys...lol). It's encouraging to see you and I have similar struggles and you prevailing! Gives me hope
Congratulations, from a dusty dirty cold and hot shed (she shed?)
To this updated much improved custom studio shop.
Your moving up.
Looking forward to more projects
Like the folding roll up chair you did
That didn't work out.
Still a neat concept and you dont know if you dont try.
Lots a new machines to work with.
Thus far it all costing money. Be nice to see you making custom stuff to sell to client's getting a return on the investment.
Stay small, a lot of shops went big only to hire people who had bad habits. I got lumber from a shop as he closed about 1/4 the cost he was bassicly giving it away to retire.
As I was looking at what he had we found a crack pipe in his shop that looked like a magic marker.
This fool was using drugs in the shop working if he'd gotten hurt on the job well you cant trust people have comon since enough to know not to be using drugs and running power equipment, the risk for serious injury is beyond imagination and the shop owner would be responsible.
This is the risk you take hiring someone. And I'd fire them on the spot if I caught them doing it.
No second chances and I'd be very clear about that policy.
Looks like a great design. Ignore the people that complain about you using higher end tools. You have made many amazing projects over the years using budget tools. You have definitely earned you right to have nicer tools, and they should recognize that and that you have proven time and time again you don't need high end tools to make high-end products.
I appreciate that! And I’m really glad you see it that way. I was once a beginner who got frustrated when I saw someone use a router table to achieve something when I didn’t have a router table… so I get it. But watching those videos also gave me inspiration and goals that’s I wanted to achieve. I am proud to say I am no longer a beginner woodworker and I shouldn’t pretend to be one for viewers who are looking to get for that content. I will keep on growing and I hope ppl will come along for the ride, but if they don’t, that’s ok too ☺️
Absolutely.
Wholeheartedly agree. I can't deny a sense of jealousy seeing those amazing tools that I do not currently afford. But, having followed your progress over the past several years, I know that they are all hard earned.
One of the charms of your channel has always been how you figure out to do things without the special tools.
Seeing the floating tenons done the hard way before bringing out the domino is appreciated.
You could have all Festools now and if still enjoy your videos because I've watched your progression, and know from where you've come. Your shop is fantastic, btw.
right on, tamar…! i for one am highly impressed by the skillful way you present your woodworking videos and how much you have progressed since starting your yt channel…!
there is constructive criticism and there’s deconstructive complaining; constructive criticism always wins out… complaining commenters about your shop or tools only do one thing: the complainer gives you their time; something they will never get back…! 😂
best wishes for a speedy ankle recovery…! (i personally don’t want to see a video of the twisting your ankle video… 😢)
You are without a doubt the easiest to understand woodworking teacher. Thank you for your videos.
Thanks for including your "mistakes."
Awesome to hear! Glad you enjoyed!
Never feel bad about getting better more expensive tools ect.. You worked for it and earned it thats what it's all about. It's been so fun to watch you grow and learn as we all learn right along with you.
Facts
I think most people are just irritated because influencers shove all these expensive tools in our face like they're the best thing... but they got them for free to begin with. Seems very shill-ish and very much not genuine.
Love the combination approach of an old school workbench and assembling table in one. Just frustrating to live in Europe and have fewer options for high quality wood - that Maple looks fabulous.
It's so cool you're building out your new shop and getting bigger and better equipment. At the same time, for me, one of the appeals of your channel was how beginner-friendly it has been. I don't want to suggest that you should hold back and not progress, I just found it so awesome that you made beginner equipment work so well. It made woodworking seem more accessible for newbies. It's great that you continue to show simpler options during your builds.
Thanks for your content and keep on cracking.
I totally get it and this was probably the best comment on this topic. Usually ppl aren’t as nice… ha. I have been doing this for a while and I am no longer a beginner. Hopefully all beginner woodworkers get to the stage I am at and further as they progress ☺️
@@3x3CustomTamar- totally agree with the parent comment here, as someone who found you when looking to get into it. The great thing is seeing the progression though, rather than just ignoring all the beginner development you went through.
I know it's not a "normal" theme for you, but it would actually be really cool if you put out a career breakdown video of some kind, going over the big milestones in your projects / the work that you do, the shop developments that accompanied all of those, and how the knowledge you picked up over time looks like. Not a small one, but thinking of your joint/tool breakdowns that clearly show insight to when you started using different techniques, milling your own lumber, etc. - it'd be invaluable in terms of helping folks conceptualize the journey even if they're just hobbyists (that'd be me 😅).
Either way, great work again and cheers!
@@andrewbattelini4532 hmmmm. I’m not sure if I can even define those things for myself. They kinda just… happened… ha. And I guess if you watch my videos I’m chronological order you would see some sort of progression 🤷🏻♀️😂
Looking great so far, you should be super proud! If you have the time, I’d vote yes to making the plans available for purchase. And yep…def want to see the ankle vid! Knowing that you’re ok means I can laugh and not feel guilty (a little bit).
Alright, noted! And yeah, I enjoy showing the video to people in real life and seeing how they react 😂
I came to the comments to post this, couldn’t of said it better!
Yes, plans. No, ankle vid.
So refreshing seeing someone sitting on the floor to work! Makes me feel better about drawing a square on my garage floor just so I could have a reference square to work from
Yes, if you could prepare plans for us that would be amazing. Great job!!!
Noted!
Love the idea of plans, but really helpful for than plans would be access to the sketchup file. I inevitably want to adapt these designs and end up redrawing my own sketchup from the plans. A step I’d love to drop. Just an idea. Thanks for sharing your work and hope you’re healing well.
Scratch all the time for custom plans with dimensioned pieces and just make your sketch up file available. We would all make changes anyway to adapt to our needs, spaces, heights, vices, etc. Nice build!
Great video and a great bench! As others have said, just the Sketchup file would be perfect because we often tweak things to fit our needs/space anyway so it's a deviation from the plan.
Such an awesome build! I love learning all of the woodworking terms for the holes, fasteners, and different cuts. I love watching the projects come together.
Tamar, You are amazing! I love you videos. Informative, great designs and l love your commentary on what and why you do each step. Also like your comments on what you can or should do next time. Also, I like your willingness to experiment with new techniques and allow us to go along and see how it works out.
Amazing craftsmanship with every build! Simply incredible wood working!
i've loved learning from you for such a long time. its so wonderful to have watched you build in "humble" beginnings, and to see you progress in your style, ability and equipment. thank you for breaking down your videos so a beginner"ish" woodworker such as myself can follow along and learn from you. i love your projects and your teaching. and not one to pass up wanting to see how you hurt your ankle! (only cause we know you're ok though!)
This is a great video. We saw you start with "cheap" tools. Now you have some really nice tools you've "earned". I love this and appreciate your work. Keep doing what you're doing. We love you Tamar!
Cool idea to combine bench styles, especially if space is a concern. Looks nicely built and nice and solid so far. Well done! Hope the ankle heals up soon for you
I think it is clever
I love this video series. Great job!! You are so well organized and come up with some great projects. Thank you so much.
Also I LOVE that you got Free Lux planer! You so deserve it! You’re the reason I own such high quality wood working tools like my wood handled Awl (to replace the one stolen from my dad) and a few other beauties. Also yay for knee clamp, boo for not learning glue up and long pipe clamp lessons!
Congrats on the Laguna planer Tamar! Good for you! Hard work does pay off. Sorry to hear about the bad sprain. Take it easy and get it healed up soon! Thanks for another great video. Can't wait to see the next vid of this build.
The drawer video is going live tomorrow!
Glad to see you expanding your tools! I would love to see plans for this.
Keep up the great work and heal up!
Thanks! Will do!
Hope you'll be zooming around your workshop in no time. the workbench looks great. and it's so nice to see you edging towards 1M subs 😊
Tamar you are just so talented and provide great content.
Tamar, that looks like a very well thought out work bench. Since we all have our own way of working, it is good to have one designed for our individual needs and it is good you took the time to think it out before jumping into building this. By all means, breaking this build into multiple videos is fine, since it gives us more chances to visit with you while you work. Your videos are always fun to watch, as well as informative and we miss you when you don't post. Looking forward to the rest of this series.
Please take care of that injury - sure we would like to see what caused it; it may help us to avoid the same type of injury.
Workbenches are so personal. I’m so excited to get to use this one
Wow - well done, that new workbench will be a great addition to your new shop. Thank you for sharing with us your construction method (ways and means) for getting the base built. Look forward to seeing more builds and more projects. When I build projects for my kids, I include the cost of newly purchase tools (both small and larger tools) in my construction cost. One of my most recent projects I purchased a new drill press, so that new outdoor wooden chair for their back yard cost big bucks but now I have a new tool for future projects. Nice new planner :)
I always enjoy your videos! You're a great teacher, designer, and woodworker. Thank you for sharing your talents! I hope your family is well and that your ankle continues to heal!
I like the idea of combining the workbench and assembly table onto a single base. I would be interested in hearing about the pros and cons after a few months of use.
Oh I can’t wait to be able to update you guys with that!!!
That's kinda what I'm looking forward to as well. That's where the real gems are is post build use.
Very nice build and sorry that you got hurt while building it. You should definitely show what happened, even in small work spaces you have to be careful, confined work spaces can be tricky.
Thanks! Yeah. It was just so stupid and I wasn’t paying attention to what was around me.
Sure why not show the ankle accident…really have enjoyed your videos of your career growth.
Do you have a shop tour of sorts ? I looked but couldn’t find one..I was curious how you ended up with this nice space…thanks!
@@vaughnmaurt5013 I have one from when I first moved without all my tools in…
You’re an inspiration for me and my videos 🥹
Can’t wait to build a bench like this.
Ive been planning a new bench for lost of this year..what you're doing here is very informative and very watchable..many tks for this, it looks great 👍
Yes I would love the plans for this workbench! I am in the midst of planning my workbench and this is perfect!!
Awesome. You got it!
Hi Tamar, I followed your links and saw the Instagram short but no actual plans for the workbench. Is there a PDF?
@@jtube713 plans are live now!! They are linked in the 3rd video of this series
Tamar I’m so excited for you, you’ve worked so hard and it’s amazing to see how advanced your shop not to mention skill set and expertise has grown since you’re first video posted. You’ve used about every method there is for building complex, high quality builds and always did the best job of sharing “how to” so thank you, these upgrades are very well earned and look forward to every build in the future! Love the shop made tenons, that’s the one joinery method I’m not looking forward to learning, for some reason it seems daunting however I’ll power through it on the next build. I’ve just recently used bridle joints and half laps for a hickory vanity build but it’s through your content that aided in me having the knowledge to go about it and the courage. Is it just me or is there some kind of joinery phobia we all have to get passed?
That’s really so awesome to hear. Every single new thing I try gives me some sort of anxiety… and I have to film and post it to the internet!!! Just go for it and be safe! Always remember to cut your first one on scrap!
You’re such an inspiration, Tamar. It looks so stylish with those big, sharp edges and I really like the idea of a double-sided bench. The simple, obvious solutions are sometimes the hardest to figure out but always the best. Awesome stuff. I’d love to see the plans as I always learn so much from actually seeing on paper how things get put together, but as a survivor of several bad ankle sprains from childhood I’ll skip the triggering footage 😅
Well planed and nice sturdy workbench! Congrats on the new tools as well, hope you have a speedy recovery. 👍
Wow, this is an interesting build! Yes to plans & bloopers please!😊
👍👍
Yes, to plans. Best combo bench I've seen on CZcams. Nicely done.
@@loyalchemist7043 plans are live!!
I would love to see the plans for the entire table! Looks amazing so far
On it!
Thank you. How did you attach the tops to the base?
@@pavementhum that video is live today!
Yes, plans, please! What a delight to see the progress on your beautiful shop! Thank you for sharing it with us!
You got it!
Really cool idea for a bench and its looking great so far. As you were describing the planer issues i was actually thinking why not upgrade and wow that laguna one looks nice. Thats the first i have seen that model.
Qualidade cem porcento, legal demais.... Saudações aqui do Brasil.
Another great video. You are just plain fun to watch as your skill keeps growing. It definitely encourages me.
Plans would be nice. How do you decide what you need in the build and how do you decide to put it together?
I vote No on the ankle sprain. I dont like to see people get hurt, especially virtual friends. 😢😊
I hope you fully recover soon!
Glad you liked it! Noted on the plans and the injury video. Ha
Amazing attention to detail, I think your work table will serve you well, Tamar. Take care of that ankle, and stay on the mend.
I love your videos, Tamar! I love that you’ve got great new tools. I feel like we’ve been along on your tool journey with you. The thing I love about you is that you’ve always worked with what you’ve got and you talk about the tools you’re using in detail.
Awesome to hear!
Nice! If only I had half of your talent, I would be a happy man!
Awesome project Tamar! Looking forward to part 2. It is great watching you continue to evolve your shop, tools, skill set, and projects over the years. I have learned a a lot from you over the years and anticipate I'll be learning a lot more from your new shop. Hope your recovery from the sprain goes well and healing comes quickly. Also, if you are willing, it would be great to see the accident that led to the sprain! It sounds like you are a good sport about sharing that.
Thanks so much! I’ll share it with a content warning as some ppl don’t want to see it
Great work! Anxious to see the next phase.
Everybody has to experience love when they are young. There are love and joy,but never eternity.
I wish you a speedy recovery. An innovative workbench, a wonderful plan and wonderful execution.
Thanks so much!
I've built four of these for 3 different spaces. It wasn't until I saw The Founder that I really started think about movement around a space, calculating necessary range of motion, most common needs for the most typical projects that I actually got the right size bench and features. You did this better than I, VERY well done!
Great video can’t wait to see it finished looks like an amazing workbench. So sorry you got hurt building it hope you get better soon. It’s been amazing watching you grow as a woodworker and see all your amazing builds and your skills get better and better it’s been great and you should not feel bad about having great tools you have earned each and everyone of them with all your hard work. Keeping up the amazing work.
👍👍👍 thanks so much!
I've been planning a workbench for a few years, I have it all drawn up in CAD and have already bought much of the hardware for it (Benchcrafted tail and leg vise) your video got me thinking I should make a start this Winter . . . I have money set aside for the hard maple. Thanks for the kick 😉
This is EXACTLY what I have been contemplating for over a year! I love your design and logic behind your choices. Thank you for the motivation to start building my hybrid workbench!
👍👍
Wow! Awesome! (Love your energy and open style!)
Im a retiring metal worker. Setting up to work with wood now, building my bench now, drawn on sketchup, a great tool. Your bench is looking great. Very good craftpersonship. 👍
SO gorgeous!! Awesome work Tamar, love to see how far along your shop is coming.
Thank you so much! It’s so fun to get it all set up!
Really sweet design! I like the integrated cabinet and that plywood snapping into place is so satisfying 👌 can't wait to see it all wrapped up!
Best feeling in the world!
Good to see you upgrade you shop and tools! I have been impressed how you do such awesome work with modest stuff. God speed.
Thank you very much!
I learn so much from your videos. Thanks for sharing your work.
Smart to replace that planer. Better safe than sorry. Yes please share the ankle injury video. I think your outtakes/deleted scenes are an excellent addition to your videos. The work table looks great!
Great work! It's going to be a beautiful bench. I hope that ankle heals up fast.
Hi Tamar. I have been watching your videos for years and absolutely love your work. As my daughter is also a professional woodworker you are a model and an inspiration to us both. Watching you work on this video I couldn't help but notice your current out-feed table saw situation. I used rollers for years and last year bit the bullet and got the integrated out-feed table for my Saw-stop. It is a game changer!
I know. There's never enough money to buy all the tools we want, yet I'd highly recommend you give it a look. It stows away so well and has made my rollers nearly obsolete.
Keep up the great work Tamar. Thrilled you're enjoying such success. I clearly remember those one car garage videos and marveling how you did so much with so little!
I absolutely love your techniques and videos! Beautiful bench and great organization!
Glad you like them! Thanks!
It looks like a very logical workbench to me. So nice to see you getting some very nice tools to work with. Well deserved.
Thanks!!
First time I seen your work, I'm impressed, well done enjoyed every minute of it.
30yr Ironworker retired, watching you makes me realise how little effort I put into my so called wood work. Thank you and I hope your family appreciates the work you do. Well done.
Sorry to hear about your ankle, glad you're taking care of it! Also glad to see you with all the new higher end tools, your work behooves this! And yes once you move away from straight knives there's no going back! Keep it up Tamar!
Such a difference in finish quality!
Hi Tamar, I hope your ankle is all healed up. I like the look of your new workbench in part 1 so far. Can’t wait for part two to come out and see the finished product! If you ever get a chance, I would love to see the plans for this workbench. Love your videos and have made some jigs from your videos since I too can’t afford to buy many of the expensive equipment. Thanks and keep up with these awesome tutorials videos. 👍👍✌🏼
Thanks so much! 😊 I’ll get back to work! Ha
I love watching you make things, because I find that you have an incredible eye for detail, aesthetics, and form and functionality combine so well. Hope that ankle heals up and you get back to full speed!
☺️☺️☺️ thanks!
Really enjoying the 3 videos drawing up plans for building this bench would be great to have.
The bench is looking awesome so far! What a bummer about your ankle. Injury setbacks can be very frustrating. Also, it's awesome seeing your shop filling up with all of these amazing new tools! It's cool to see how far your shop has come from no jointer and a jobsite table saw to what it is today. All that hard work is paying off!
Thanks so much! That first time using the jointer was one very exciting moment. Ha
Great woodworking and video production! Thanks!
Thank you very much!
Very elegant base… love seeing the joinery tips. Can’t wait for part 2!
Thanks so much! Working on it!
get well soon, Tamar! This is an awesome looking Workbench and I'm a bit envy of all the space you have now for working on your projects.
Thanks so much! ☺️
like that small shelf right under the top. great place to store tools when you are at the bench
I feel your pain! I broke my left ankle several months ago and I am still wearing an ankle brace. Nice work on your new work bench, as usual.
Not only has your tool collection improved but so has your video quality. Looking forward to watching more. Also, I just signed up for Woodworkers Source.
That's a fine looking workbench that will see a lot of use over the years. I bet it will never get old having that in your shop.
I keep walking in and smiling.
I just went back to watch your tutorial on milling rough cut lumber, and so happy to stumble on this to see the upgrade! Your shop is definitely **goals**
It’s really been awesome to make this space my own!
I for sure want to see the ankle video. It's good to know I'm not the only graceful woodworker here.
😂😂
I'm sorry you got hurt. But, I enjoyed hearing you swearing. It rounded out your personality. 😊😊😊
Also loved the "shop dolly"! 😂😂😂
So happy to see you able to enjoy the fruits of all your labor! I recently purchased a Laguna F2 tablesaw so I can cut some hot dogs for beanie weanies!lol Enjoy the new tools, you've earned it! Beautiful bench, looking forward to the next video!
👍👍👍
New shop and tools are awesome. Congratulations on your success!!!
Thank you!
Love your channel. Definitely want to see the staning and the spraining!
You're so good at this!
Hey, that might be a really great idea. I've also thought about wanting a larger assembly table aside from my joinery bench, but this might work pretty well. Looking forward to updates after you've lived with it a while.
Love your videos. Love you energy. And wow what a work table.
The shop is coming along nicely. Looking forward to more builds
It’s great to work in here!
Nice use of the skateboard. That is a great-looking workbench, almost too nice to use. You have come so far since I first started watching you several years ago -- I love all of the new tools you have added to your shop, it is so exciting to when those new tools come along, you deserve everything you have, hard work pays off!! Keep the video coming and best wishes on a speedy recovery.
Thanks so much! Posting the next one tomorrow!
From my first box joint to your amazing builds that ‘click’ into place is one of the most satisfying sounds ever.
Thanks for building
Really felt soooo good!
We all like to see folks be human... show us the footage of the great twist. Great work on the workbench!! ❤❤👏👏
Very nice. Like you attention to detail, such as notching the corners with the jigsaw, and the spacers for the ends of the cabinet.
Thank you very much!
Congratulations, Tamar!! Very nice job!! Very nice workbench!!
Thanks so much!
I'm really looking forward to part 2. Your collection of high end tools is, in part, a reflection of your growth as a woodworker. So be proud of how far you've come. Thanks for all you post, and for all the education you provide basically for free, here on the 'net. Thumbs up
Oh and yeah, I'd like to see footage of the accident. It's for safety's sake, of course. We all want a heads up on unexpected shop hazards....right!
Working to get the next video out! 👍👍
Just found your site. Awesome job! Love your idea for a work bench! Thanks for sharing.
You've come a long way from that detached garage shop! The shot of you concentrating at the drill press with the pencil in your mouth is priceless. That new planer looks amazing! Thanks for sharing
Hahaha I thought that was funny too when I watched it the first time
You do great work Ms. Tamar!
Thank you so much!
Wow, I’m impressed how organized ideas. Great job!!
Thank you! 😊
I am legit jealous of all the new tools, even though they are not completely installed yet. Lol crosslegged drill press. Congrats on the new shop.
Awesome design and video! I look forward to seeing how you use the bench and hearing your thoughts once you have a few projects complete with it. I am in the process of doing some research and brainstorming on what style bench I might need so I'd definitely be interested in the plans if you produce them.
Fantastic Build and video. Looking forward to part two. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much! Hopefully I’ll finish it up soon
I'm glad I clicked on this video. My Dewalt planer did the same thing to me the other day. I took it apart and cleaned it out. That worked but, now I'm wondering if it was the safety switch and I just got lucky. If/when it happens again, I'll know what to check. I love your dust collection set up.
I love the PiP look at moving the bench around during the ad. Great idea!
Glad you liked that part!
Wow! This is so impressive! Inspirational!
Yessss! I would love plans! And material list! I need a nice work table!
Gorgeous. That's going to be satisfying to use
Can’t wait to use it! Thanks!
