Through conflict ofc. you explained that so well. Also i'd like to pinpoint a rather minor yet significant frame. In the scene 7:38 , they seem to be lying really close to each other trying to hold on to the ice block. Sokka for a brief second wraps his arm around katara's back, which is crucial to their relationship dynamic. Even though they have a number conflicts in the beginning and disagreements, sokka has the need to protect his sister unconsciously, that's why he unconsciously lies his arm on katara's back. The writers really nailed the character introduction on that part.
Ooooh I LOVE this point. Yessss - they bicker and disagree, but at the end of the day they love each other fiercely, and Sokka is again that "do what it takes" helper and protector. Thanks for pointing this out!

This is a good reminder to focus on simplicity and character impact in my opening scenes, and I can build the world and plot more going forward (especially in a first draft). Some of my favorite episodes of the series were the painted lady and the puppetmaster, i love how serious and grown the show became by the 3rd season. Blood bending specifically is such a dark topic for a kids show but i'm glad they addressed the possibility.
I love the episode on Ba Sing Se on how the people pf the earth kingdom were being lied to that there is no ongoing war, but there actually was a war, and the king was just a figure head being manipulated, and there was almost a caste like system of living. I loved how they mirrored real life political issues in a such a simplistic and comical way. Great video by the way. love , love , love.
