Learning Golf Terms are just as important as learning how to swing a golf club. Comment below if I missed some of your Favourite Golf Terms.
Coach Shayain. Thank you for taking the time to put these videos together. The content, the pace and the details of your videos are excellent. As you said, golf is very intimidating but watching your videos is giving me the confidence to continue learning and practicing.

Fantastic video! I'm so glad I came across this channel.
I love slicing the ball!!! Can’t wait for next week.

Thanks for watching.
This video really caught me up because I missed the first week of golf practice in school and everyone's been speaking a different language to me.
Happy to hear. Are you playing for your highschool team or for fun?
Great stuff, thanks Coach!
See you next week.
Really well explained Shayain. I think I found myself on a 'real' golf course once when I was talked into a fun tournament with some co-workers. I swung so many times to hit that ball that my arms were so stiff the next day...gain a lot more respect for golfers after that 😉
Great to hear! As a golfer, I have even more respect for Pro Golfers on Tour. Can you imagine how they feel after a tournament.
@@CoachShayain no way just today my harms are sore from the gym. It may not be a contact or a team sport but its way tougher than it looks.
100% agree and mental toughness is next level
i feel inspired already thank you Shayain
Love that!
Thanks Coach.
My fear of golf and terminologies just went down a notch. Such an easy going style. Thanks!

Hello coach shayain, thanks for the effort you have put in to teach us about golf.
I am still learning how to play golf
Thanks for you support Chris!
I"m a Jr Golfer. Thanks for making it more understanding. I love your videos💖💝
Thanks so much for your support 😍😍
I know nothing about gold so this was super interesting!!
Thanks for watching and hopefully you get the chance to watch a few more videos on my channel which might help with understanding the game of golf. It looks scary but is actually a good time :)
So nice and pleasant to listen to. Lessons are 🔥
Happy to hear that!
In my youth the green fringe was called the apron to distinguish it from the fairway rough.
YUP! some call it a collar as well. lots of names in golf :)
Best tourney/charity purchase I ever did was a "Clancy." It allowed me to THROW a ball, instead of using a club. It actually came into play when the best shot out of the four was in the sand trap. My toss onto the green was a tap-in away.
I coach a beginner girls high school golf team .. your videos are awesome!
Yayy!! That’s so great to hear. Thank you. What part of the world are the girls playing golf?
@@CoachShayain beautiful Southern California … our home course is Coto de Caza and Tijeras Creek ..
@@SteveBowles170 Southern California where dreams come true 😍. I wish the team all the success this season and do keep me posted on how you get on. If there are videos on certain topics let me know.
Thanks Coach. My daughter is 8+ years old and a Jr Golfer. Your coaching is super perfect for her to start understanding the Sport further! Cheers
It brings me so much joy to read this. Let me know if there is any topic in particular you think that would help her :)
@@CoachShayain Sure Coach, will do. Appreciate it. Will go thru' all your videos in the next couple of weeks and revert post that. Thanks a lot
i loved
I’m a bev. cart girl at a private / public course. I haven’t held this position since 2015. Do you you have any tips for me as far as etiquette? Thank you!!
What a great question!!!!! Let me have a little think. I am sure you are still when people are swinging and not making any noise. The other one that comes to mind is not taking orders at the Green or behind the Green but maybe at the next Tee Box?
very nice video 🥰🥰
Amazing my friend
Thank you! Cheers!
@@CoachShayain yes
thx
I wish I could've played some golf courses in BC when I lived in Vancouver, they look amazing.
When travel opens back up you should definitely come and enjoy the beautiful courses throughout the province.
@@CoachShayain I definitely have to, I love BC and miss it so much. It really is the most beautiful place on earth.
@@Jakey4000 yessss Jakey it sure is. Don’t tell everyone we like to keep it a secret over here. What part of the world have your moved to?
@@CoachShayain I'll keep the BC secret! I'm also in a place people often call the world best, New Zealand. Don't tell my government I think BC is better, they'll deport me from my homeland haha.
@@Jakey4000 I’ve heard AMAZING things about New Zealand. Have a really good friend from there that I went to Grad school with and worked in Professional Sports with before I started teaching golf. Seems like everyone is so kind and nice there. Can’t wait to come visit.
elegant
Thank you!
Can someone please explain what does stroke meaning ? Does it mean the act of ball being in the hole?
A Stroke is when your swing and hit the ball. It was be at the tee box, fairway, putting green. In what reference exactly are you asking?
Question - at 7:50 timeline, why would one chose black tee and take longer distance, why not everyone chose the red tee so the total distance is short ?
is the black blue white and red dot in tee part of the games, or players can chose where from they want to hit the driver.
Bighorn is not in the Okanagan Valley, it's in the Thompson River valley.
Hello to my fellow Canadian
🇨🇦 yayyyy!! What province do you live in?
@@CoachShayain Actually I live in Vancouver but I wanna learn golf so badly.
@@peacefulliberal5641 send me a DM on Instagram or email me coachshayain@gmail.com. I will help you out :)
Hi, I’m still a little bit confused about the flag. Does each hole (let’s say hole 1) have 3 flags to indicate how big that hole is?
Each hole only has one flag. Some courses have coloured flags which indicate where the hole is on the green ( front, middle, back)
So different from golf's origins, the green/fringe/rough
Was the video helpful?
@@CoachShayain I like to watch but I don't play. The top world golfers have some kind of sweet magic
That is interesting. If you ever give the game a try let me know how it goes.
in match play what does dormie mean?? anybody??
Im lucky I have a golf course in my back yard minor flex
LUCKY!!!
But what is a birdie/eagle/etc
Great question. There will be a video on how to keep score so keep your eyes out for that
@Thierry Darwin Tuffier-Mancini thank you!
Job well done!!!! Yes there will be more videos coming out starting October.
here because my boyfriend plays golf and i want to understand what he talks about 😂😭
🤣🤣🤣 let me know if there is anything you need clarification on ❣️
The British don't use the word mulligan. We call it "three off the tee".
Good to know!! Thanks for sharing.
you are so pretty
It’s the women’s T Box. Why are you changing the official Golf terminology?
🙄 it’s the Juniors T box
Your BGM is really annoying. Nice explanation
Most probably red will always be known as the woman's tee box, regardless of the new age attempt to change that.
We are here to change the dialogue and make it more inclusive. So everyone feels comfortable playing from the forward tee´s and not just a certain group of people.
@@CoachShayain Inclusivity is BS. There is nothing wrong with the old names. People need to get over themselves and their claim of being oppressed or not included. I've played with some of the most non inclusive golfers imaginable and it only made me a stronger person. You become a stronger person, a stronger performer, by facing adversary not by caving to it.
Had no idea of the flag colors. I knew they had a meaninf just never ared enough to remember that until now. Disagree on calling it womens tees. If a group of 4 play and only the women hits from them it is either an unfair advantage or womens tees.
i'm as anti politically correct as it gets, but i never thought them as "women's tee". i just see tee spacing is for those who are up for the challenge. sometimes ya just aren't in a ball smashing mood, and might play the short tees..ok?
i also don't get women's clubs. like the club cares? like anyone at golf courses make sure everyone is following rules??? the last thing we need is karens playing golf. just play and have fun. no politics no religion, just hit the ball and keep moving thats all i ask.
Unnecessary long talks. Keep it to the point.
With or without a sign NEVER chip onto the practice putting green. Not cool!!!!! EVER.
