Music: Jersey Devil PS1, i would have made it quieter but the save file got corrupted, i'm not going to re-edit this video due to it being almost good enough.
Why destroy that piece of old tech like garbage? I felt very sad with that. Bad video.. Do not recommend this channel. Very amateur. Negative feedback and don't like it.
+Rinoa Super-Genius I didn't like this video. But liked your other videos, about e-bike, using 18650 batteries. You are very smart and should study engineer. And please don't destroy old tech.
That receiver looked very nice at 7:53. It is (was) apparently a top-of-the-line from Yamaha. Shame on you for destroying it. Also that record player might of been worth something. Do you even research your stuff before you destroy it?!
Joshua's Recordings So true... Destroing that yamaha was painfull to watch. The guy that did this is an idiot, i dont want to know what awesome projects will use all of that parts from that receiver. Also i saw nice crystal branded dolby digital decoder in first sat (or something) receiver.
You have a recycling place that takes that wide a range of plastics?! SO jealous! Also- Thor's soldering iron, as it was described by another commentator, massive! XD
Cool stuff! Have any plans for those switching power supplies or transformers? That's what I usually look forward to when I tear stuff apart. :P Have you ever played with vacuum fluorescent displays? I saw one in that cash register and I think the stereo receiver. They're easy to light up just for decoration or whatever.
yeah i think VFDs are so cool. too bad most of the old ones you find are very dim. for the transformers and big transistors from the power supplies. they will go into like a solid state switch for my lawn tractor and a Variable Frequency Drive hey two uses for VFD in the same comment, maybe i should reference A Series of Unfortunate Events to step that up hehe.
Rinoa Super-Genius With dim VFDs you can just increase the filament voltage to brighten it up, although there does come a point with an extremely worn display that the filament has to be driven so hard that it starts glowing like an incandescent lamp. :P Oh, that will be super cool if you do that for your tractor!
***** i'm hoping to build a motor controller for my tractor that uses electron tubes, will have a box on the top similar to the modified tube components on the time machine from BTTF part 3.
Good job tearing stuff apart, If I did that I am sure that there would be blood all over the place from all the slips when prying and beating on things.
+hydrolisk1792 Could have, yes. But does the time and expense to restore it exceed the value of the restored item? The case is wooden, and rotten, much of it would need replacing. Speaker grills too, before you even start on the electronics.
I love Electronics. This video is incredible. I see this is your hobby in your spare time. This is a good hobby to get in to. You have inspired me to look for old computers and take them apart because this is one thing I like to do. Well done on this video, I absolutely love it.😀
Be REALLY careful with the switching PSU big capacitors. If the bleeder resistor is broken, they can deliver quite a (deadly) shock! But I'm sure you already knowed about anyway!! :-) And yeah keep up with the videos, they're always interesting!
I too cried for the record player and would have restored it but it was his to do with as he pleases. If you run across any vintage Geiger counters with tubes please send them my way :)
When i remove components off a pcb i usually heat one side with heat gun then when upto temperature give it a smack with hammer on the other side, Interesting spider did you keep it as a pet or release it into the wild? hehe :-)
Are the resistor values used on a circuit board calculated using a mathematic formula to determine the resistive value needed, called Drop Voltage? Or have I got that wrong and Drop Voltages for resistive values are used on some other component?
The face plates and metal boxes could be reused for job boxes and such. And I would have kept the glass as well. I am a woodworker and those would be great for table tops
what would you do with broken glass? its not easy to melt down. and i use those metal bits as electrodes when i remove rust from parts via electrolysis.
Not the broken glass, sorry I didn't specify. I meant the glass pane before it was broken :D. I just recently joined your channel and I really enjoy it. I hoping you post more projects soon. Otherwise thanks for the vids :D
Ive been cleaning up, so lets take everything ive cleaned up and take it apart and spread it out more!! Lol. Your videos wouldnt be the same with out that music. You could have so much nice stuff. That tower fan, I would have wired it straight to the motor. Lol. Maybe put an inline switch, bu probably not. Just plug it in. Lol.
Old printers indeed. Most modern ones (~2005+) use the cheaper photo positioning system and your standard DC motor, for the most part. What you really need to get your hands on is a semi-modern (This century or slightly before) business copy machine/correlator. After a couple teardowns of those... When the world runs out of stepper motors and god is looking for one, you'll still have a baker's dozen to mess around with.
I think you did the wrong think with the amplifier, i would have sell it to someone after a got cleaning. I would have sold it as is. The other electronics were junks.
I've made hundreds of dollars doing just that. You'd be surprised what a half hours worth of work and some basic electrical principles is worth. Also, it's almost blasphemous with regards to what some people throw away. My recent dumpster grab is a Hitachi V-302B Oscilloscope. It was just sitting in the dumpster. Fully functional as well! Can't believe my luck.
It is a good thing to gain money from what people throw away. I for one did fix some old amps and sell them for good money (80 euros, 50 euros) and the parts were completely cheap (bellow 2 euros!) I wish I would be there to do some dumpster diving!
Yes, if it is going to find good things, enjoy and gain money then it is nice to dive (some people find this embarrassing!) Whenever I go out for a walk, I stay aware if there is something nice near the bins (for example a computer monitor or a small hifi) and then if I find one, happiness overfill me. One day, I have found three floppy disks (the media) from an amstrad cpc6128 behind the bin, I sold them for 10 euros! Also I have found a nice sony separate pieces hifi, I fixed it thoroughly and I donated it to a friend.
Alexandros Sotiropoulos I go out almost EVERY night. I keep what I think will get me money by selling outright or fixing then selling. I'm, also, on the lookout for what the local charitable donation places are in need of and donate accordingly. That way I have good karma and everyone stays happy! Peace be with you brother.
Thanks you for your kind words! I also go walking every afternoon and so I can combine it with some diving! Probably your area has recycling facilities or stores thus you have better opportunities to find valuable items.
Rinoa, the record player it has/had a good motor "if" servicable those motors never die. Check out ElectronicsNmore he show many vids on what you can salvage from microwave ovens. He makes a fan in one with that motor or one like. They come in handy. I have a freezer small chest type freezer the thermal switch protection blew on it. I used this type ir temp tool www.ebay.com/itm/Non-Contact-IR-Infrared-Thermometer-Digital-Temperature-Pocket-Pen-58-to-482-F-/291443594857?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43db645669 to check the compressor temp for several days. Put a motor with a fan blade on it. "Not" a part of the orginal design which I think is a bad design flaw of the unit. But this is a great freezer it has two compartments and one is not zub zero. Any way ... Cooled the compressor by 18 F. Cost zero all from the parts bin got to love the parts bin.
frank villa take a conductive material and put it across the contacts of the component in question. as a service electrician, we use screwdrivers across contacts when we take them out XD

+Killerspieler0815 just a good sized jumping spider. most likely female. those things can jump around 2 feet. that screw driver was not enough distance. They're not really harmful to humans though.

Super-genius? Any idiot can destroy, an intelligent person can fix and a genius creates
I'm pretty sure they did it as a joke
Why destroy that piece of old tech like garbage? I felt very sad with that. Bad video.. Do not recommend this channel. Very amateur. Negative feedback and don't like it.

i have a job already in silicon valley, i dont have time for studying in college.
+Rinoa Super-Genius Very nice. Congratulations.
A genius that tears stuff down with a hammer.... Oh boy.
It killed me to see you rip that record player apart
It hurts a lot to see vintage electronics be ripped to shreds by retards. :(
nathan evans not all electronics stuff is created equally, and the stuff i tore down in this video is very easy to find and is low quality.
nathan evans spot on
Jesse Miller it was a pile of shit. nobody should care for rotten old electronics other the re-purposing the parts..
+Jesse Miller usually I'd agree, but that thing looked pretty crap. not worth restoring.

it had been sitting broken for a long time
S/he says in the beginning of the video that it's electronic scrap so it probably wasn't working at all
+theblueyoshi33866 I know he did. It did not look that badly hurt, I could have fixed it!
Joshua's Recordings it was fried from being wet, i remember him saying something about it
That spider has a epic green moustache.
You have a recycling place that takes that wide a range of plastics?! SO jealous!

Next time you do this, You should try the flying monkeys song from the wizard of oz.. :P

Him: This is cool

aww that old yamaha amp
Oh the Brutality! Having a garden space big enough to pull all that stuff apart like that must be great...
I cried for the tube record player ....damn man!!!
Mal Boyce I did too.
Good job tearing stuff apart, If I did that I am sure that there would be blood all over the place from all the slips when prying and beating on things.
love how u leave the screws like dead bodies of a electronic army.
I could have fully restored that record player mate.
+hydrolisk1792 Could have, yes. But does the time and expense to restore it exceed the value of the restored item? The case is wooden, and rotten, much of it would need replacing. Speaker grills too, before you even start on the electronics.
Vyl Bird yeah but that's the fun of it
hydrolisk1792 I could of restored it too.

These videos are so satisfying to watch
I too cried for the record player and would have restored it but it was his to do with as he pleases. If you run across any vintage Geiger counters with tubes please send them my way :)
I'm probably wrong about this, considering I'm only an enthusiast grade electrical "engineer", but can't the tubes be made by one's self?
Me too
me too
Da fuq! Why is this weird chick destroying record players and stuff!!!
When i remove components off a pcb i usually heat one side with heat gun then when upto temperature give it a smack with hammer on the other side, Interesting spider did you keep it as a pet or release it into the wild? hehe :-)
appreciate the cartoonish music seems to go accurately with your childlike spirit of destroying things you dont understand
Man, teardown is usually used metaphorically in this context. But i see you take it literally!
Awesome video! I really enjoyed watching this on my lunch break. Also thought it was cool of you to properly recycle.
Music was awesome as well.
Nice score on the over sized scanner bed...
The 1980s is definitely my favorite electronics era too! Good video.
Are the resistor values used on a circuit board calculated using a mathematic formula to determine the resistive value needed, called Drop Voltage?
Or have I got that wrong and Drop Voltages for resistive values are used on some other component?
hrmm, im not quite sure actually.
There's that quirky music i like :o)
A genius creates, well he created the wooden box.
You have gained one more like and another subscriber.
The face plates and metal boxes could be reused for job boxes and such. And I would have kept the glass as well. I am a woodworker and those would be great for table tops

abraham mclarahmore
yeah i tried to remove it but the glue they used is too strong to get it off in one piece.
I got yeah :D
16:59 that spider was cute
+coolevi123 Best part :')
Any idiot can destroy, an intelligent person can fix and a genius creates. (sic)
That spider would've startled me too.
What spider is it, do you know? Certainly don't get them around here.
seems to be a jumping spider, not poisonous.
Restoring the record player is the best option. That would be more expensive when you sell it
crazy looking spider
i shed a tear for that record player
same
I, also, feel remorse for the record player teardown. As well as the Yamaha receiver. The first rule of scraping is knowing what you have...
Eric Gillespie me too.
Lol.
Possible use for one of those switchmode psus, a dedicated electrolysis
supply so you can use your battery charger for other things :-)
yeah i've started just using ATX power supplies for electrolysis. but who knows. maybe my new 300 amp welder will work better.
Thor's soldering iron lol
very cool

did you lose the footage from the second part of this vid ?
+Kristijan Dinga never did the second part
Rinoa Super-Genius oh ok :)
Every time i see that soldering iron.....
Soon as you said 1980's elec tronics I thought Noooooooo!!!!!!!!
once upon a time, i bet that rca camera was worth a ton!
a few hundred dollars. this camcorder is from 1991. i have a few from like 1982 that would have cost more.
Rinoa Super-Genius
you know you can re use the viewfinder CRT in it.
devicemodder
yup and power it with 9v
i have 2 identicle ones that use 12V and one half inch tube that runs on 5v from a usb port, head mount display anyone?
Right and it's probably still worth some money.
most plastic from appliances that you send to the recycling center are just going to end up in the dump.
+Brady Rose yeah
*****
most plastic gasification plants in the usa are stopped by the regulators. They say it is incineration, even though it is not.
Where did you get those items?
They're worth more if you sell the electronics.
where is your video where you salvage all electronic components ?
I also get things from ebay, " For parts or repair "
I actually liked the louder music.
well cool, i love this music but lots of people like quieter background music.

Yamaha... R.I.P. :(
albion caster company needs to get involved
that tower fan didnt look broken, well it is now!
it was though. think the micro controller died. it might make a good fire blower though.
micro controller in fan? stupid design!

yeah it can only be controlled by the remote, stupid.
I like teardowns

i hate spiders

very true

what's that soldering iron
What insect was that.
to him its like christmas
oh wow, a printer.
What's the name & brand of the scanner?
just says TMA1600, it was used in the graphics department of a printshop
OMG! I'm literally wearing the same shirt right now. This is kinda awkward... once of use is going to have to change... Okay, fine I will change.

nice music LOL, guess if u need something DESTROYED u know who to call. : )
Rob Young who you gonna call ?...ghost Busters ...ehm i mean rinoa
What spider was this? - you were so afraid of it - was it toxic ?
Killerspieler0815 Looked like a big momma jumper spider! Pretty harmless if it was, I like 'em! XD
+Killerspieler0815 just a good sized jumping spider. most likely female. those things can jump around 2 feet. that screw driver was not enough distance. They're not really harmful to humans though.
Yeah, I agree someone would have paid some $ for the record player(s).
Someone?
Any idea what that bug was??
A spider.
Mr. Sensible ;-)
infom melting wax calibration technique
what kind of spider was that?
hopefully a dead one. It looked vicious already!!! lol
The 1980's thin was RADIOACTIVE and i guess you can call the record player 'vintage'.
Heaven
Waiting for ur project to be made.
11:39 that`s strong
You could of got that old record player restored instead of it being used as parts.
+Weisheng Zhang no, record players are everywhere and most arent worth anything.
Vintage Record players are still worth a lot of money. Plus some can be easily restored and still worth a lot.
Those old poor record players at 2:55 and 12:10.
+Weisheng Zhang they were shit
Rinoa Super-Genius they weren't shit, they were antique goodies.

Many people go prospecting on trash nights and pick up all types of things.
yeah, but i go prospecting every time i'm out and about haha.
Yeah
what an ugly ass spider what species was it??
uglium assium
albion fine particle revoval
why waste so much vintage gear?
because it was in the trash and i saved it, but i didnt end up being able to do anything with it anyway
Rinoa Super-Genius@ I wasn’t there so I don’t kno but it erks me to see that. Is all. No disrespect.
Big hammer or explosives.
i choose big exploding hammer, everything you hit explodes.
this can be called shitting wasting electronics
I don't get what he is doing
distorting electronics don't make you get any thing usable
I agree
what sorta spider was that
jumping spider, not dangerous.
oh kool he was very kool looking here in NZ we dont got much kool spiders and snakes
Pal, get yourself a Hakko Solder pot. ha...
why?
Productivity ! faster to extract components. no more pin-by-pin solder sucking.
TheOldmankk
i just sear the back of the board with a blowtorch, seems fast enough to me.
oh man, Hakko solder pot got better temperature control for good used parts, not cook stuff in return. haha... have fun.
TheOldmankk Those Hakko things are surprisingly useless actually, Someone gave me one awhile ago and I tried to use it to strip a Motherboard.. No way.. Too much work.. Just Used my Weller heat gun and threw that thing out.
