In my opinion this performance demonstrates plenty of technique and has a fair amount of the flavor of Flamenco. But for my tastes it wanders away from the duende or essence of Flamenco way too far. There is too much emphasis on being new and different and on flashy playing and not enough on just plain old heart. I am sure I will be flamed to a crisp for saying this, but it is my truth. Sorry! I understand your point, but this rendition is an ode to the deceased. To Camaron de La Isla's song "Soy Gitano". It is a tribute to Camaron. It is not supposed to be a flamenco traditional piece, it is supposed to be a beautiful tribute to a gitano legend.
