@@Ryan-kb8ui Right. Brother Mouzone knew Omar got some bad information from someone and that is who he was after. He suspected Stringer so he said 'them' to feel him out. He then went after Omar to confirm what he suspected.
Stringer probably would have ended up dead either way but he definitely made a bad mistake when he acted surprised at word 'them.'

Brother still had to get confirmation though, so that's why he tracked down Omar at the end of season 3. To get confirmation, and also to see if he wanted to join him in the quest for vengeance.

Think back to the conversation he and Omar had after he shot him, "Youve got some wrong information." The information came from somebody that knew about him being in B'more. And when he reacted to them as in "it was supposed to be just one person, not them" Brother knew the wrong info came from String. That was a test he was giving String to see if HE was the one that gave Omar the wrong information.
Like he told Avon, "Your man, in affect tried to have me hit."

Here’s something I overlooked about this scene, Butchie knew who Avon’s father was when the police didn’t know who Avon Barksdale was, and the cops mention they didn’t know who Avon’s father was based on his birth certificate in season 1! WOW….you have to pay attention to every conversation in the WIRE.

I think you missed it. Brother Mouzone said "Them" because he wanted Stringer to confirm that it was actually just "he". By Stringer screwing up and acting confused by the usage of 'them' he confirmed what Mouzone already suspected: Stringer knew.

And what gets me about this scene is Omar is SMART. Very very smart. So I was shocked that Stringer was even able to somewhat convince him that he (Stringer) had nothing to do with Brandon’s death. I figured he would’ve seen the wool being pulled over his eyes ..

Omar knew Stringer ordered a hit on both Omar and Brandon...that wasn't the deception. It was the horrible way Brandon was tortured that Stringer falsely denied and implicated Brother Mouzone for. Omar (with Butchie 's help) figured it out, though.

My fav show of all time and one of my favorite characters ever Omar, I love Avon and his crew so at first he was a bad guy to me but by the end of the series I was rooting for him to take out Marlo and his crew. I love when a show can take a character and make you hate him then love him (Kinda like Negan and the Walking Dead)

Stringer was Dumb as F for this 1. Trying to get 2 heavy hitters with integrity or a moral code. To mindlessly take each other out or to eliminate one of them. Yet what happens if they talk to each other at any point? This is what happens Well Omar doesn't strike me as a Man that would Lie even at the threat or pain of death. Then they eventually team up & kill Stringer for painfully obvious reasons. Classic case of being 2 damn smart or shady for ones own good.
