this is a crossover i didn't expect but i really liked it
I don't see this as a reaction video but as one of the best Fox players in the world adding his input on an amazing Fox guide. There are lazy reaction videos out there for character reveals or whatever but this is actually something useful & informative. As always, thank you IzAw & thank you Larry too! Would love to see you two play some matches sometime!

To be a bit more precise about the peach comment, if you aerial and let go of ground float at the same time, your aerials will be around 3 frames less safe on shield than if you did them fastfalling from a normal jump, and if you fastfall after the ground float aerial they'll still be 1-2 frames less safe. To make them as safe as normally possible, you need to work out the timings for dropping ground float during aerial start up or before doing the aerial

I think I might like this video more because it’s basically two really good Fox guides in one
Fox's recovery isn't as bad as people make it out to be, I never had more problems than anybody else...cuz if u use Fox Illusion it's best to stall with his Reflector then immediately go for the edge grab same with Fire Fox (no matter the angle), his recovery isn't as exploitable as other characters such as Link, Captain Falcon, Ness/Lucas, Kirby, Wario etc.
Nobody ever does this! Not even light!
@@tonychen2105 yeah I personally feel I have better tactics than light cuz I actually use shine stall a lot more than he does and I use Fire Fox in combat. Fire Fox is a shield breaker and literally does like 36% damage. Idk why it's not used more often in battle

Been wanting to play Fox more recently, I’m not too competitive because the nearest “local” is about 2 hours away and I’m very indecisive so I normally play 5 characters, currently it’s Bowser, Link, Sephiroth, Lucario and I’m trying to learn Fox

I would say that Fox is more of an illusional character to play as an heavy dependent close range character which fits me very well. Secondly I’m starting love Fox a lot more than the early days of ultimate.
Edit: I have long ways to go to optimize Fox for a secondary, but if possible, I will definitely main because how fun he is. I already got him to elite smash.
Fox's SHFF is also 17 frames. So if he's close, his tomahawk grab is nearly un-reactable. You kinda covered this by saying that Fox's neutral is ambiguous. This, is the real power of Fox. If you let him get close enough to you, there's very little that can be done to react to his options. You end up with 3 options: guess, cover as many things as you can, get out.

Something I've always wondered about Fox's up air. I think if you don't fast fall the short hop up air you actually have more frame advantage than if you do fast fall. Can anyone confirm this?
Correct, as you will autocancel the up air if you do not fast fall it

i think that best parry game probably goes to the shotos since they also have f2/3 combo starters (jab, lutilt, ldtilt, ptilt, etc.) but the reward for them is better than fox's reward for getting a parry utilt.

Beefy Smash Dudes has enough footage for it, look up "Beefy Up B"
It's not character specific, nearly every character can do it
Up B at your chosen angle, once fox starts moving (after the stall) then hold down until fox is within ledge grab range. Let go too soon and you will grab the ledge at a normal time. Let go to late and you will go past the ledge completely. Keep in mind that the more you are riding the side of the stage the more time you have to mix up when you grab the ledge.

This is super late but do you ever have to worry about staling?
The only thing I would disagree with is that when fox is pressuring shield with landing aerials almost every fox (honestly it applies to a lot of characters) is going to buffer a move 90% of the time. Beit jab, an aerial, a tilt, or occasionally a grab. We should stop making making it seem like it’s a good option, because it stopped working a while ago. This is probably a low level timing habit, so maybe it doesn’t apply to top level, but I see this shit all the time. Like, the game’s been out for years, people, how is anyone surprised by how safe aerials are at this point?

Larry do you hold down for recovery when you start the move, or as he's already going?
As he is going, if you hold it before he starts moving, you are gonna go downwards. You have to input it after fox goes upwards.

Its something you will rarely get if your opponent knows how to DI, if you somehow get it then that's great but don't expect it to happen often unless your opponent is not that good

An advantage Falco has over Fox is the fact that Falco is really good in the air, his Blaster can make his opponents flinch and his Reflector has range.
@@anibalhyrulesantihero7021 yeah that's true! He is a lot better at edgeguarding than fox too. Fox has speed and a better neutral though. I feel like falco has a lot of potential though.
