  • EGVOC-180 IGERESS Indoor Air Quality Monitor Detector Accurate Testing Formaldehyde (HCHO) TVOC PM2.5 PM1.0 PM10
    The World Health Organization guideline for indoor air formaldehyde concentration is 0.1 mg/m3 (0.08 ppm). The California Air Resources Board recommends an “action level” of 0.1228 mg/m3 (0.1 ppm) and a “target level” of 0.0614 mg/m3 (0.05 ppm) or lower for homes
    Note the data logging feature is not really useful for logging trace amounts. Still, love this meter.
    Remember it's a great meter for me so far but for trace amounts , it's only as good as the calibration that you do. Need a clean air sample / space to calibrate then meter essentially compares to that.
    Also keep in mind that both airborne pesticide and mold exposures might show up on the TVOC reading, but they are toxic in such trace amounts that the meter lacks resolution to display values that small.
    Some of the potentially harmful emissions from indoor air combustion (wood, natural gas..) include: nitrogen dioxide, nitrous oxide, sulfur oxides, hydrogen cyanide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, formaldehyde, particulate matter, and hydrocarbons from natural gas fumes such as butane, propane, pentane, methyl pentane, benzene, and xylene. The indoor levels of these pollutants are determined by the amount of fuel burned and the rate of exchange with outdoor air.
    The primary effects of exposure to gas fumes are on the cardiovascular and nervous systems, but they can affect any organ of the body. Some of the earliest symptoms from exposure to gas fumes include: depression, fatigue, irritability, inability to concentrate and neurological damage.
    Hazardous fumes can leak at the pipe joints and remain undetected, especially if they occur under flooring. In addition, every pilot light adds fumes, and the burning process itself releases fumes into the air.
    Chronic exposure can result in multiple chemical sensitivities. because carbon monoxide has the ability to interfere with the detoxification pathways in the liver, allowing the accumulation of toxic substances. Other effects of chronic carbon monoxide exposure include heart arrhythmia, decreased cognitive abilities, confusion, and fatigue. Because it is odorless and can not be detected through smell there are many cases of carbon monoxide related-deaths each year. hbelc.org

    I just posted a video quite similar, much longer though, of my daughters currently housing. She began having autoimmune symptoms about 2 to 3 weeks after she moved into that dwelling. Anyway, I don't quite understand the numbers but hers were very similar to yours.

      Indoor air quality is a chemical soup for the vast majority. When the bucket we carry around gets full there can be some injury and detox pathways may not work so it piles up with nowhere to go. Some people become super sensitive to trace amounts and then things get really messy. I'm very fortunate to have a room right now that is so good it sometimes reads zero's all the way across the whole meter. It has taken a great effort to get to this point. Mychemicalfreehouse.net is a good resource as are building biologists and a book called Prescritions for a Healthy House. I'm not familiar with the link between autoimmune issues and chem exposure but it founds like she needs to find a safe place or at least safe room. I wouldn't delay because things can get much worse.

    Mines a different model and just stays on 1.999 HCHO and 9.999 TVOC. Hoping its a glitch and not it really telling me i live in a deadly toxic cloud. Atleast I think its calibrated theres no way to tell if it calibrated or not. Bought it because of new downstairs neighbors weed/cigarette smoke and ive done everything to try and block it and get rid of it

But all day i have 1 huge standing fan and one smaller facing my apartment door hallway from the inside plus a winix air purifier running with just the carbon pellet filter no hepa filter right now cause its too dirty from neighbors cigarette smoke. And i got a homemade box fan with number 11 filterete filter sitting infront of a cracked window at all times no matter what the temp is. Looks like its working hella gud

    • @thehealthheritageeichannel6068

      Hello., yes - this was actually my mothers house which had been sealed with 'varathane' wood polish (all HW floors) within about 18 months of the video. Last summer I used a lot of ozone when the house was vacant and also 'baked' it to the extent possible and or both at the same time, followed by hours and hours of forced , fresh air. It didn't seem to help a great deal but then I have noticed a remarkable difference now almost a year later. I will have to check but my nose tells me this house is now much lower levels

    • @thehealthheritageeichannel6068
      @thehealthheritageeichannel6068  Před 4 lety +4

      PS - Varathane is a pretty nasty old fashioned oil based sealer that apparently is LOADED with chemicals. On top of that I figured out eventually that either a large of amount of baseboard heaters on or sunlight direct through the bay windows to the floor ( even worse .. BOTH) caused the dramatic imore dramatic peaks, as captured in this video.

      @thehealthheritageeichannel6068  Před rokem +1

      @@jewsusjewtube1880 Unfortunately I lost the detector after moving twice since this video. Pro: it's extremely sensitive, so much in fact that I found it difficult to find a clean enough air environment to do the calibration process. There's no way for me to know if the actual measurements are accurate with this, but for comparative situations and in particular when there's concern with low levels, it's actually fantastic. Highly recommended considering the cost. I didn't try any other meters, except one which did CO2 levels in ppm, I could not get that one to work at all with any confidence or reliability. Since moving into a home built in 1907 with no synthetic materials to be found, I no longer need air quality monitoring equipment so I haven't replaced it. Hope this helps.

    PG, Does your sensor automatically shut off after so much time? Can it be left alone to monitor the air for a extended amount of time?

    • @thehealthheritageeichannel6068
      @thehealthheritageeichannel6068  Před 5 lety +1

      It will keep going the display times out and screen shuts off to save battery time., but the sensor keeps on going. There is a record function but to me it's not very useful because I'm looking at trace amounts generally as so the axis are setup to look at much larger amounts of pollution than I would ever dream of seeing in a living space. For the money this meter is outstanding. Set to 'quickest' mode you nearly see all these things in real time as seen above. Technically, they tell you to set it down somewhere and come back in 3 minutes for greatest accuracy. finding clean air to do a good calibration is really the only issue I've had so far.

      @@thehealthheritageeichannel6068 I have been collecting fine particle air pollution data for around 2 years now. I currently use a Speck sensor. It recognizes and counts particles 3 microns down to .5 microns. The screen is always on. So I point a security camera at the screen to catch every number it produces. We are down wind from a fracking compressor station. So we often get air pollution events that can last an hour to several hours. The levels are often up over 300 ug/m3 from the station. I want to collect VOC levels but need a sensor that will keep the monitor on and not time out. We have leaves falling from our trees and I could smell chemicals in the air. They are currently active on two gas pads up wind from us. If you get higher levels while outside. Check wind direction and try to figure out what could be releasing the pollution up wind from you. Thanks for the info.

      @thehealthheritageeichannel6068  Před 5 lety +1

      @@Dashbshots The manual indicates you can set the screen off time to 1 Minute, 10 Minutes, 30 Minutes and Never options. That should work... This unit has 2 laser sensors for PM. I believe one of them senses 0-10pm and the other 0-2.5 PM. So the 10 should always be the 'total' then the rest percentage of total. I don't know how the meter differentiates PM less than 1 micron. I don't normal look at any of the PM readings but I've noticed it goes insane whenever you pan fry something.
      I will update description with model number and links. Thanks

      I use borax and baking soda in the washer and my dryer has never had chemicals in it of any kind. I have noticed at other homes , if doing laundry from the washer in particular the levels will be rather high sometimes in surrounding rooms. The cleaner the calibration air, the better result. I did yeah, I found that you need an exceptionally low pollution day / area to calibrate it if you are interested in detecting very low levels. Otherwise it would often read zero when I knew by experience it shouldn't have been reading zero. Once calibrated successfully though it's extremely sensitive
