Brings back all the memories of going to Walmart and Best Buy looking at the back of the big boxes... That new game smell was mesmerizing.
I remember when i was a teenager i went to my grandmothers house for thanksgiving, we didnt get to see them much, and i while i was there she introduced me to Civilization 2. Still love that game.
I remember being a kid and seeing all these incredible games that lined the shelves of CompUSA. Beautiful artwork, cool velcro flip-open panels, screenshots, glossy cardboard. Compared to what was on consoles at the time, it really seemed like every conceivable game had been made for PC.
Well, revisiting these games I never played decades later, few of them live up to a child's imagination. But the soundtracks still capture the energy of a PC games market that was just starting to stretch its legs, and for a minute, I imagine I'm playing the games I had dreamed up.
Wow beautifully said 🥲
I was there, 2000 years ago
I live for severely underrated compilations like this.
Never played these games and still, I listen.
Well, go play them, a lot of them are either abandonware or sold by peanuts in GoG/Steam.
Retro PC games are the ones that marked me the most. I'll always carry them in my heart!
THE MSDOS MIX KING HAS RETUUUUUURNED 💦💦💦💦💦💦 brother, I just discovered your last mix 5 minutes ago, from 3 years ago…and you are doing the LORDS WORK! Whew! I’m disappointed at every nerd who isn’t in here listening and leaving comments right now. This is the sweet nectar!
GREAT video and selections! Eager to listen to more music from this era.
Your positivity and desire to learn will take you far
1:56:44 Freddi Fish was such a nice surprise
This is timeless. Thank you for putting this together.
Kinda makes me envious really. These composers had some of the best jobs in the world.
It's a perfect background soundtrack for programming. Thanks! 😊
I had Blade Runner. I thought it was INCREDIBLE!! I got my first ever PC in the year 2000. 20GB storage, Windows 98! Thank you for compiling such an amazing collection and especially for including Blade Runner, just seeing the cover art is like seeing a photo of a good friend long since passed away x
Glad to see some Meridian 59 love.
This is legitimately one of the best niche ambience videos I’ve ever heard. I didn’t even realize this but I’ve been listening to it for an hour and a half. Fucking great job dude.
I keep sharing this, deserves more views!!
The Industry Giant song is fantastic! I never even heard of that game.
J'écoute souvent des playlists de musique de jeux quand je travaille. La vôtre est l'une des meilleures
Amazing choice of tracks and great quality! (Also, thanks for choosing Curse Of Monkey Island instead of the more known, and thus a bit overused track from the first installment).
awesome selection! thanks a bunch
thanks so much for this Jason, it's the soundtrack of a whole generation!
Superb selection! love it!
Amazing soundtrack! thanks
Came again to listen. This time in the shower with weed. Highly reccomended.
Game music used to be awesome when it had to be the majority of the soundtrack in games. Nowadays it's dialogue and atmosphere which is fine but it will never be the same!
Божественная музыка
the 90's looks like the games sound lol I miss it.
How is the Roller Coaster Tycoon soundtrack the dankest thing I've ever heard?
Can i dowload these songs somewhere so i can mod them into Daggerfall Unity? That'd be so awesome.
Marble Drop reminds me uncannily of Ecco the Dolphin. I imagine same composer &c.?
I recognize the song from Marble Madness, the Tengan game. I want to say the Sega Genesis version but I'm not certain.
00:40:14
Can someone help me with what the Simon the sorcerer 2 music is also in? Bc I recognise it but I don’t know from where!
Ice cream trucks?
The Sailor's Hornpipe - used in many, many old cartoons
Well ain't this just utopian virtual
That’s a very cool phrase, and accurate
Sub Culture!!!
Some great, relaxing tracks. Some annoying, not relaxing tracks.
