- When we were looking for places to stay in Vienna, Austria, we stumble upon the Space Capsule Hostel about 10 minutes away from the train station. How could you pass up sleeping in a SPACE CAPSULE?!? It was also only $48 a night which was about as cheap as it gets in Vienna for budget travelers like ourselves.

This is so cool. Did a few capsule hostels in Tokyo but this seems way cooler.
I am a violinist in Canada and a single parent. I have a dream of travelling to Austria with my children, going to the opera, a traditional Austrian ball, seeing where Mozart and Beethoven lived. We have no intention of spending all our time in a hotel room, or even an Airbnb. I am an adult. My son will be 12 when we go and my daughter 15. Do you think this would be appropriate for (well behaved!) children my age as long as I am with them? Safety and security is important, especially for my teenage daughter? We will go to the opera dressed to the nines so we'd need a place to dress and be as neat as a pin. Thank you for this!
What an amazing family trip! As long as this hostel does not have any rules on age, it is perfectly suitable for teens and having a place to get ready for a day or night out. We see hostels with families staying from time to time. The capsules are a lot of fun but I am not sure this hostel would be cheaper than an Airbnb overall. There is no kitchen to save a few dollars on meals and you would have to pay for at least 2 beds for the family. You may be more comfortable in a private Airbnb or hotel compared to this hostel

Did you have the opportunity to lock the capsule with your bags/luggage? I mean to leave something in the capsule and lock it?
Yes, in addition to the lockers provided, the entire capsule locks with a key card.

I’m curious can you get your own private bathroom ? Sometimes I hate sharing with people .
I do not believe you can get a private bathroom in a hostel. Even some budget hotels have shared bathrooms. You can get a private room with a sink but will always share the shower and toilet. Some hostels have very nice shared bathrooms where it is a full bathroom to yourself while you have it. We stick to Airbnb when we want full privacy to cook, clean and do laundry. Thanks for watching!
