Hi, i just wonder how to disconnect ur usb stick from the cdj. There must be a button to make sure ur usb stick is safe and secure right? If so, how do u press it? Do u need to press and hold or just press one time untill the cdj tells it is safe to remove the usb?

Hi Dexxter. I don’t usually comment much but you said in this video that using the sync button meant in effect you are not a Dj or are not DJing because you would not be beat matching. As a Dj for over 25 yrs, a Dj that learnt to mix on belt driven turntables before progressing into technics 1200 where having to beat match is essential I can honestly say that beat matching is NOT DJing and was simply a by product of DJing. I have warmed up for Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling, etc etc. A club professional Dj for over 15 yrs. I know what I’m talking about. DJing is not about beat matching. If your new to DJing learn how to beat match but use the sync button, WHY ? Well the reason is this. DJing is about being creative about selecting the correct record to play. By utilising the sync button you release the part of your brain that would normally have to Police the timing aspect and allow your brain to concentrate on being the entertainer, being more creative, utilising 3/4 decks, looping, adding fx, creating builds and most importantly creating a vibe. Beat matching does none of this and IMO although an important aspect to learn is highly overrated and misunderstood by the new generation of DJ’s. Being able to beat match is important but why bother with it if the equipment you have can do it for you? I think it’s more of an Ego thing amongst DJ’s today and it’s a load of rubbish. Beat matching is not what being a good Dj is about.

I was already looking if there's a comment like this and I absolutely agree, David. Beat matching does not make you a real DJ, and mixing without doesn't make you not a DJ. It's actually just an extra ultimately unnecessary step if it can be automated unless you really do something with the extra control that manual beat matching gives you. I started mixing with vinyl 18 years ago, used CD decks, and mixing with both Ableton Live and Traktor Pro with just controllers. Now since a year I went back to turntables with vinyl timecode, which I use for fun and to hone my skills. But about half the time I just mix in beat sync and can perform transitions and layering of tracks that are just impossible when you're focusing on the beat matching. Without the beat matching I can put all my brain power into the smoothest blending during transitions and adding subtle effects. Saying that only beat matching makes you a real DJ actually reveals that you're just trying to show off with it (it's not that difficult of a skill) and are actually probably not that experienced as a DJ. Just use all the tools the technology provides to make the best transitions possible, that's all that's important.

Dexxter Clark - a very diplomatic response. You are correct, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Oh and by the way, I think your videos are great, despite having been a Dj for along time I only recently bought the cdj2000 nx2 as I stopped Playing out about 10yrs ago and the last pioneer cdj’s I played on were the 1000’s so it’s quite an upgrade and your vids have been very helpful. Thank you , really enjoying playing again now, so much fun with the hot cues and quantise loops!

IMHO, every DJ should be able to beatmatch manually. Its not even hard so for an experienced DJ is just a couple of seconds to beatmatch.

and so to post channel 4 fader in the pioneer settings.but no changes , i can choose usb A or B on the 2,3 or 4 selector , but no signal there .

Hey, I have a question where i don't seem to find an answer to. So in some clubs in the nearest city they have a pair of cdj 2000nexus(1), and I am someone who likes to use colored hot cues to indicate points where to mix in and out. I know there are only 3 hot cue buttons on the cdj 2000nexus, but would I be able to see the hot cues on my screen, even though i would not be able to activate them? Hope you can help me. Thanks in advance

cdj 2000 (nexus 1) only supports 3 hot cues.

This Pioneer Nexus 2 system is okay. I hate how pressing the hot cues makes the track play automatically and same with the auto loop function. There is no GATE mode on the CDJs unlike the Rekordbox Controllers, which is kind of stupid to not include that feature on such a high-priced system. I also get this annoying issue that some tracks automatically play when loaded and some tracks don't. Another problem is the quantize algorithm is very laggy, such as pressing hot cues and engaging slip-reverse, they will not react immediately until the next beat. Everything else is great including the mixer, just these lists of issues make this NXS2 setup untrustworthy.
