      In my experience this is what happens. I'm bilingual and have a Latin accents and people (usually monolingual Anglo Americans) will comment on my accent or mock it. Most will attempt to correct my accent even if my pronunciation is fine.

    As a native Japanese speaker, I can say this guy pronounces “anime” wrong. He has an American accent when he speaks Japanese, his pronunciations not correct. I bet he has a good knowledge of Japanese, just his pronunciations aren’t that of a native speaker.
