I have never seen this level of hate on a person that did nothing to these people.

At Harry's mothers' funeral services, there were people wailing loudly, calling her name as if they knew her. Similarly, for Queen Elizabeth--strangers flailing and weeping. Silence from the critics! But then comes a loving grandson who, in addition to mourning a grandmother, is also no doubt being transported back to palace and street scenes of his mom's death. He and his wife hold hands no doubt to calm and steady him in his grief and misanthropes who cannot even spell "protocol" attack them? Maybe people resent seeing in this couple the comfort, love and compassion they have yet to find. I now understand how stains on humanity like slavery, colonialism, the Holocaust, and genocides were allowed to happen. Many who saw the wrong and could have spoken out instead stood by and let the abuses happen. THANK YOU, James O'Brien for being intelligent and humane enough to speak up rather than stand dumbly by. Bravo, Man. Bravo!

Angela Levine host got recycled by her own lies and rinsed with the facts by her own peers on air tv recently. She’s the biographer for queen consort go figure. A bonafide anti-Meghan who believe Meghan is not for Harry expressed constant unnecessary hate and jealousy stalking her every move by the hour ongoing 2 yrs after they moved.
She begged the palace to interview Harry and later followed him for few months and deceptively wrote a book about him he wasn’t happy about it. He’s now trying to delete contents from her online account must be scared everyone saw the epic takedown and it’s gone viral. What a coward she can’t handkerchief the criticism but like to throw it at Meghan nonstop.

That’s what happened when they realized Meghan wasn’t with Harry when he first arrived, it was they were on their way and once they didn’t see her then it was she was told not to come and to shine a light on Kate, she was at home tending to her kids, Harry didn’t make it before the queen past away JUST to find out NONE of them did, you are right they are always ready!
As an American, I am so relieved to have come across this podcast. So relieved that someone in the British journalistic/broadcasting community has the guts and clarity of thinking to recognize how irrational, brutal, and vicious the British public's attacks on Meghan (and to some extent on Harry) have been. The rabid criticisms have been mind boggling to me. I give them both, but especially Meghan, a ton of credit and respect for walking out into the gauntlet knowing full well how they would be attacked. Their holding hands seemed to me to be their way of steeling each other and reassuring each other that together they would get through not only the emotional trials of the return to the UK, but the inevitable petty attacks they knew were coming. I wish them only many happy years together with their beautiful children. Thank you for speaking up publicly.

I agree with Mr o'Brien. My question is what has she done to warrant such verbal abuse none of the other women and men in the so call royal family are perfect not one. Thank you! As an American, I was starting to believe that the English and Australian press were ALL vehemently anti Meghan. I know Piers Morgan, whom I despise, is completely off the rails about Meghan for very dubious reasons. When I heard a woman on an Australian program's posted video (I've forgotten her name) pronounce Meghan to be a "horrible human" and speak her wishes that Harry "will come to his senses and leave her", I felt sick. Thank you for being a voice of reason and sanity on this issue.

My mum died a few months before Diana, I was 11 too, and I remember seeing both Harry and William walking behind their mum's coffin and feeling so sorry for them. It was horrible enough when my mum died, I can't imagine how much more awful it must have been for those boys to grieve for their mother with the eyes of the world on them. I am no fan of the Royals, I don't really think we need a monarchy anymore, but these people are still human beings with feelings. I really don't understand all the hatred Meghan Markle gets either. It's all so ridiculous.

A colleague at work said "eugh I hate meghan" I said "I quite like her, or at least am neutral but think she's been treated horrifically, why do you hate her?" She said "it's not about race, I've got a cousin who's pregnant to a black man and we were wondering what colour their baby would be too". That sorted that out for me then.

I am an American, so is my wife.
So, when Harry and Meghan announced they were engaged, my wife was excited at the idea of an "American royal" (which is is an oxymoron as far as I am concerned). She was having a conversation with a friend about the coming wedding. A British lady sitting nearby chimed in. She told us that whole fanfare will come down crashing within a year or two. She said, then, that reason the British establishment and media haven't yet gone after her it is because "we" will see through the racism. So they will pretend to like and accept her and wait for the slightest mistakes to pounce on her and pour out all their repressed feelings about the whole relationship (between H and M). And she added that she wouldn't be surprised if it gets to a point where she wants out. When the small criticisms started, my disillusioned wife said to me "that lady called it". The whole fiasco seems to have converted her to my anti monarchical stance.

I have seen just a little of the ceremony yesterday. And I saw Prince Harry holding the hand of his wife. I thought it was beautiful.
It was beautiful and comforting just to see harry seeking comfort in his wife by holding her hand and meghan also wanted to seek comfort from her husband by holding hands i don't understand it, they have always been a very tactile touchy feely couple with eachother i'm just glad that harry has meghan and she has harry they can get eachhother through this tough time they can lean on eachother.

Andrew's Story doesn't roll off the TV stations as Meghan's Interview. And he needed Security and his security was cut without warning and their location released. King Charles the saint could have had better regard for his son's safety

No they turned on him when his ‘being his own person’ meant throwing his own family and his country under the bus and grubbing for money using his titles. Sorry but both of them deserve criticism. I don’t care about the hand holding but if they think that showing their money grubbing faces in this country pretending to care after all they’ve said - right up to the week the Queen died as well - is going to win them brownie points they are mistaken. He always being fair about this issue. I'm not a british but I feel very proud of him for his fair and bold judgements and statements. Since day 1 these riddiculous issue regarding Harry and Meghan surfaced I always put this channel as reference to keep my mind sane. Out there the bullies are immensely crazy and they took no advice to stop hating... I always feel pity for these couple and their children. Yesterday, I happened to glance at the Daily Mail’s website, and the headlining article was about Meghan Markle’s curtsy. It was in big bold letters, and the article basically discussed that she had done a curtsy.
That was it. And the next article was about Meghan holding Harry’s hand. And I couldn’t fathom how, during the Queen’s mourning period, the newspaper would be talking about something so insignificant. It wasn’t just one article; numerous articles were about every thing she did. One was about someone believing they saw a square item in her dress, and theorized that (for whatever reason) she was recording everything. There were few articles about the Queen herself, and one of the articles was about feelings around the British commonwealth. But for Meghan, there seems to be a total industry just based on her and these wild accusations people have about her. It’s crazy the amount of vitriol they toss towards her. It’s mind boggling.

Thank you, you are the first and only media person from Brittain that has simply treated them with civility. Everyone else is downright rude and vile about her at all times. Whatever she does is offensive to them which essentially means they are offended by her race and skin color, just come out and say it rather than saying it from any other avenue.

I did not see many journalists as rude and vile as James O'Brien. He is just not rude towards them but towards all other that have different opinion and criticize them. But criticism is not vile, it's just expressing opinion. Whereas calling people who dare to criticize some public figures for their behavior as ghules and vampires, that definitely is vile and low class.

I didn't see any journalist or reporter to express abuse or death threat towards neither of them (and would never call that an opinion). We can't be mixing press coverage with social media mob exhibition. That can be very brutal to absolutely any publicly known person, no disagreement in that. And there is no other solution than not reading it and completely ignoring it. Same as Royal family do and uncountable other publicly known people has to.

These people say the love the Queen. Well, prove it. Follow the examples she left as to how to live your lives. Harry and Meghan are being treated as if they have committed heinous crimes. The BBC, the day the queen died, made a big deal of the fact that Meghan is not going to Balmoral, yet, they mentioned that Kate will not be at Balmoral because it was the first day of school, in a much kinder tone. They also talked about Andrew in a much kinder tone, 'because he is family.' Are they suggesting Meghan is not family? They lambast H & M for holding hands after the queen was brought to Westminster Hall. However, they said nothing about Zara and her husband holding hands at the same event. I think we need to stop the baseless hatred and racism. I say this as someone who was born in one of the colonies.

Thank you so much for the empathy that you gave to Prince Harry and Meghan. It's so disgusting that the RF has allowed this abuse and harassment to continue. For them to get 45 minutes to get to the walkabout when you know the others had full hair and makeup pressed clothes all the time to get mentally and physically ready. Just imagine how scared Meghan was but the courage that it took to face all that on top of being rushed....knowing they would be attacked, judged plastered on every paper and website. Of course they held onto eachother for comfort because the RF didn't protect them and they knew that. Appreciate your insight and defense of an English son and his wife. I am so disturbed and emotionally drained at the abuse they had to endure. I truly cannot remember not seeing Meaghan smiling and I watched her on Suits from day one so I am a big fan of hers. It was literally heartbreaking. They will be fine but they are stronger than I would have been. I think the hand holding is more for Harry’s reinsurance than for Meghan. I feel he needs to feel her there to be at peace. It brings me peace thinking of it this way. I love these two.

I’ve been watching the Queen’s funeral from South America. It’s appalling to witness the vitriol and hatred spewed at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during a time of national mourning. I thought it was wonderful to see Prince Harry being comforted by his wife during a most difficult time . This is disturbing and shameful behavior.The world is watching.

Those accounts have a reach of 1.7 million people, and the conversation then spreads from there. It really shows just how deliberate this effort is from a certain corner

Thanks for saying this. I am always horrified to think that people perceive that our press represent us in some way, but they are just commercial enterprises and seek profit from sensationalism. On the contrary I think they let us down again and again, most notably in recent memory during the Brexit referendum when they failed to reflect the fallacy of the Brexit argument, which, I am sad to say, is so so so much more important than worrying about the multi-millionaires harry and meghan who will no doubt secure another oprah interview and netflix documentary in the near future
