Rise FM is hosted by "Andre The Accelerator" and plays four to the floor style electronic dance music. The playlist in the game is presented as a continuous liveset which is being played and broadcast live from a nightclub called the Planetarium. This station does not feature any commercials. Rise FM is one of the Colombian Cartel's favorite stations. Rise FM is also the name of a real-life internet radio station which is owned and run by Denmark-based Rise Future Media. However, it is in no way connected to the GTA version.

Just hop onto www.di.fm and hit up some trance stations there. That's what I got pumping when I play GTAV. There are some really great trance stations on that site. Premium costs $7 / month without any commercials. And I say this not as a representative for DI.FM.

This radio station was a reference to the late 90s, early 00s trance nightclub scene. So glad I was alive to experience it, today's youth will never know how good our youth was in the late 90s, early 00s.

Is it just me, or is Slyder - Score clearly the most nostalgic song in the game? That melody hits so damn hard to memories of the game and even of those times in general, in a solemn "it's never coming back" kind of way.
i was born in 92' and heard from family about the early 90's culture and saw all the pics. i was obsessed with trance. i must have been 9/10 staying up late playing this game this is exact song used to send shivers down my spine. 31 now and the nostalgia this brings back. its almost like my raving days. sat on a bunk bed on a ps2. epic times that will never be back. agree wholeheartdly.

I remember the times when I turn on the console just to drive my cheetah in the middle of night (ingame), with an heavy rain, or a fog, which cover the streets of Liberty City, driving like a crazy with no destination, with Rise fm at all volume in my car... it was a really simple thing, but also one of the most exciting things of GTA3...

There's something about both Rise and MSX, they both have music that sound like from the future. Like you need to seek out experimental music to appreciate both of those stations.

Fun fact: according to the GTA Wikia, all GTA III stations were updated in sound quality when the game was released on PC, but Rise FM did not benefit from it. If you listen to the songs separetely on youtube, you'll notice they're indeed of poor quality on the radio, but to me they sound just better and contribute to the Rise FM atmosphere

Yesterday is gone forever. Maaaaan, right in the feels with that early 2000's nostalgia! I think a lot of us stayed up all night with Rise. I remember pinning the map to the wall right next to my gaming area. Then EQOA came out, Socom 1 and 2 and i stopped playing SP games for YEARS. Finally just got back to appreciating them again. Just in time for the remasters and San Andreas VR!

I love trance as it is, especially from the late 90s and early 00s, and when I bought this game back in 2002, I instantly fell in love with Rise FM (mostly because of the Slyder tracks!) - Honestly can't believe it's been nearly 20 years since I bought this game... A lot of nostalgia from this!
If your diving through a city on the highway at night, give this a listen while doing so. They go together like pop rocks and soda.

Each station was like 25-30 mins long, and are more iconic than any other video game's radio station. I think it's because they used lesser known tracks that went with the style very well, so you co relate the two, to each other.

Man, Slyder really struck gold getting two of his songs into GTA3. They are awesome (if somewhat crude) trancers, and the selling price of the very limited vinyl run is in the 50s of US dollars...
Most of the tracks are from him, he got 1 or 2 tracks here under another alias on Rise FM too xd

It kind of sucks that we don't have another classical/trance/drum&bass station in GTA. It's all just hip-hop, 80s, and classic rock now. Not that they're bad, but GTA 5, despite having so many radio stations, there just doesn't seem that much diversity.
Makes sense though trance was only really "in" during this time period
GTA V soundtrack is weak imho. III, Vice City, San Andreas and Liberty City Stories have better music. Vice City Stories soundtrack was ok.

@@crashfan9997 There were good songs in GTA V, but it really was a mess. For starters, did we really need that many hip-hop radio stations? Not to mention as much as I love 80s music, there was way too much from that era in NSP; they should've been strictly late 2000s/early 2010s pop. Songs like Lady by Modjo fit, but should be in a different radio station (preferably a 90s house radio station). And Rockstars focused too much on LSRR (there wasn't even that much rock in there) instead of Vinewood Boulevard, which is supposed to be an alt rock station in LA? And East Los felt lackluster for a Mexican radio.
