    Hi I just wanted to comment and say thank you. I watched these videos in the lead up to my test and found them so helpful. I sat my restricted today for the first time at Westgate and passed no critical errors!

      @@Forza_Maldini33 I think just smoothly slow down from 50km to 30km between the change - I did mine before all the roads changed to 30km but as long as you match the signage showing you have good control of the vehicle you should be fine! I found myself speaking out loud a bit, so whatever works for you - do it! Good luck :)

    I've had my learners for up to 5 or 6 years now, and I finally have my restricted test tomorrow. (Carried my L's for such a long time because I lived in australia where they require you to record 100 hours of driving, and personal circumstances made it difficult for me) I've moved in South Auckland in September '22 and have practiced almost every day since. Got my restricted test due tomorrow, and still got a bit of nerves. These mock test videos are very helpful and informative. I'm sure things will go smoothly, cheers 👍

      @@SocialDrivingAcademy I passed first go! My feedback from my driver testing officer was good, although I completely forgot to move into the flush median in a T-Section soon as I had a safe gap. Usually in Australia we don't travel across flush medians so I needed to make a slight adjustment. Otherwise, I drove pretty confident knowing I practiced a lot and watched these videos. I'll book a mock test for my fulls when the time comes, cheers mate!

    Hi is its every 5-10 seconds you are meant to check your mirrors? Or what is the rule for that. I usually check mine every 10ish seconds.

    Hi, I have a question. At 20:43 where Melody is turning right, in this case do I do what she does and waits behind the white car as it is turning in a driveway or should I go in front of the car?

    • @SocialDrivingAcademy
      @SocialDrivingAcademy  Před rokem +2

      Hi Judy, great question. If on your approach, it is obvious that the car is turning and not waiting in a queue then it makes sense to only change lanes in to the turn bay after it as opposed to waiting behind it.

    How important is hand positioning during the restricted test? I see the suggested method is the push/pull technique but is it compulsary to do / would I get failed for not doing it?

    • @SocialDrivingAcademy
      @SocialDrivingAcademy  Před rokem +3

      Hi, hand positioning is really important from a vehicle control point of view. The push pull technique to steer is one of two acceptable steering techniques, with the other one being the hand over hand. Both are acceptable and it is vehicle control and positioning that is ultimately being assessed during the tests.

    Hi there! I am wanting to do my restricted license in about a month in Mt Wellington. Your videos are really helpful :)

    • @SocialDrivingAcademy
      @SocialDrivingAcademy  Před rokem +1

      Hi, I don’t have that level of detail but I would say I’ve had good feedback of Sylvia Park. I’d suggest a mock driving test with an instructor so you know how ready you are for the test

    Hey, in regards to what you were mentioning at 57:00, let’s say I’m travelling at 45km/hr at a 50km zone and I slow down to 40km because I notice children on the side, would I get a critical?

    • @SocialDrivingAcademy
      @SocialDrivingAcademy  Před rokem

      Hey, driving safely is about driving to the conditions. You shouldn’t get a critical error for just slowing down because you see some children on the side who could potentially be hazards.

    Just a question, at 51mins you talk about if a lane splits the driver needs to move to the left lane by default. What is then the purpose of the middle lane (where she ends up) if all cars are by default meant to move to the left.

    • @SocialDrivingAcademy
      @SocialDrivingAcademy  Před rokem

      Where the lane splits into two, the right lane then can be used for overtaking, passing and turning right :)

    hey just touching up on one of your points from another video, if i’m waiting to turn and i go because somebody gave me the wave or blinked their high beams at me, would i immediately fail? even if i did everything else right and i made that little mistake at the end? also what should i do instead

    • @SocialDrivingAcademy
      @SocialDrivingAcademy  Před 5 měsíci

      Hey, thank you for the question. Short answer is that would be a fail against the failing to give way immediate fail error. You would need to hold your position and apply the give way rules
