working at a restaurant as a line cook, i was surprised at how much shit was frozen and microwaved. everything with either microwaved or deep fried except for the signature dish. and it was a huge chain too, not just some cheap assholes with no business

I work for a big chain too, and one of our most ordered dish is literally just reheated in microwave.

it's the same with a good stew. enough restaurants will actually prepare the stew deliberately a day in advance.
which is why my family NEVER dumps soup or stews if there's leftovers. next day is heavenly
I literally just have leftover homemade chicken & rice soup for dinner tonight, still tastes great! Some crackers and a couple slices of sourdough goes great.
@@sirBrouwer No that sounds horrible. All our soup cans are in the cabinet, not the fridge and we just heat it up. I think putting it in the fridge would make it cold and lose its flavor, just like leftovers.

As someone who works in a commercial kitchen, we do actually serve food we've previously made for a maximum of 3 days beforehand.

Yep! I work in a nursing home’s kitchen and we often bake desserts a couple days before we need it because it’s a lot easier for the cooks.

about the "yesterday soup". Last time I played this game I made a lot of soup, really a lot, I served it for like 8 days only heating when someone asked for the soup.

in regards to the whole soup reserving the next day. my mom makes her own soup quite often and we deliberatly leave it for a day. it tastes a lot better if you let it rest for a day
