The game does feel a bit old & yea certainly janky... but damn IT HAS THAT RPG CHARM. First impressions are great. If you decide to pick it up just be aware that you might need to download the 4g patch or mess with a few settings etc to get it to run smoothly. Purchase at your own risk.
Whatever you do, don't kill too many chickens....;)
Just curious, but where/how do you get the 4g patch? Im interested in getting this, but some of the steam reviews say that the game is prone to crashing so i want to have a look at what sort of fixes this 4g patch brings in before i go and purchase it.
If you just type in 4gb patch on Google it will come up. There's also several CZcams vids that can help you with that @@harleycox953
Larian need to remake this game. It's really good game back then
i played this when it came out, loved it then, and had no idea the impact this little studio would make on me and the world was we both grew and matured
The nostalgia is burning through my veins watching this. Thanks for the blast from past Wolf. All game are Kirill Pokrovsky games until Bobby took over after his passing.
The music and feel of this game was great!
this game is one of my most loved “childhood" games.
have you ever played or even heard about the gothic or risen games by a german studio named "piranha bites"?
There are so many secrets and hidden quests in this game. You are definitely gonna miss a lot without a thorough investigation. Some can be found in the world, and some appear only if you read the right person's mind or find hidden objects... Loved it!
I played The Dragon Knight Saga version of this game A LOT in my old Xbox 360, one of my favorites.
I remember I played the game 1 year after it came out; then got the final version... It was such an epic game! and being able of shifting into a dragon was so great!
One of my favorite RPGs! Needs a remake, this generation is missing out on a time when substance mattered over graphics.
Damn you played it! This could be so much better if larian wasent forced to publish it unfinished. I love this game.
There is a community patch in the Dragon Knight Saga subreddit. Lets u scroll the camera and gives u lotsa framerates!!! oh, but I think older savegames don't work with it.
Ok I'll check it out thanks
if i extremly enjoyed baldurs gate 3, will this game scratch an itch?
Tough question as they are both very different games. You will likely love divinity original sin 2 though if you have not played it yet.
I have this on 360 and PC, before BG3 it was my first and only Larian game. I didn't get to play it long cuz I had to go serve the country, but I loved my time with it.
Are you American Jeannie? Reason why I ask is because I served in the Air Force. Was playing Halo 3 but boot camp caused me to stop :-D
@WolfheartFPS Yes, I was in the Army as SatCom. I started boot camp June 2009 and I was playing Gears of War 3 when I started training to deploy.
This is one of those games you play and years later remember fuck all about it... All I remember is being a dragon.
Short after I finished this game dos2 came up. My ignorance (in that time) , I wasn't aware both games made by larian. XD
Fond memories of this title, theres so much to say about it but in summary i believe its old gem that still holds some luster. The ground combat hasnt aged well and feels stiff but the aerial combat still feels much smoother. The story has a great concept, despite some hiccups. Progession loop didnt feel gratifying, too much farming for too little reward. But i still regard it as one of the best play-as-dragons games ever made, second only to the Drakengard series.
I love this game and played it many times.
You mentioned possibly increasing the difficulty. Be careful with that. Archery is the easiest playstyle because you can comfortably avoid damage most of the time and spam attacks for free, but if you want to mix playstyles, I would stay on normal.
Other builds become more viable later with skills and equipment (you'll also unlock the option to fully respec), so you could raise the difficulty then if you want.
Committing to a high difficulty early would make long stretches of the game very tedious to struggle through, especially if you want to stream it and enjoy the lore.
I played on the highest difficulty before and it's ROUGH, getting one-shot left and right.
As you might have noticed already, it's difficult to avoid taking damage in melee. Once enemies start using more abilities, some of them being undodgeable, going into melee tends to be a death sentence. This is especially true when entering a new region with a higher level range.
Divinity 2 dragon Knight saga sums up the words underrated and overlooked. Larian arguably had the most natural feeling and looking third person game available for the time. This game has finesse! The character progression here is top notch and wonderfully done. Combat felt smooth and natural still today. Dragons Dogma and Kingdoms of Amalur fans will enjoy the combat here just as much as they did in those games.
It wasn't perfection and of course had a share of issues. When I played it last year the two biggest problems I saw were the repetitiveness with the dragon combat and areas. They became too similar, basically different colors even though those colors represented elements usually. The other problem was the all too frequent crashes in the final act. The game had so much charm though and it was so enjoyable that I personally didn't care and just learned to quick save every time before going through a door.
When the credits roll you'll have a giant smile on your face and will say wow!
Didn't even know these gems existed! The bundle sounds like a cool idea i'll have to check it out :) Skal!!
Skal wata
I can’t believe I missed this
Loved the Double jump
I played this one just as it came out. It's a really fun action RPG. Who doesn't want to transform into a dragon?
It already had the typical Larian humor that make me chuckle at times. The mindreading skill is an absolute must.
I also really like the music. It fits the game so well that it creates such an awesome atmosphere .
As a bold statement I think I like the music of this game better then that of BG3. I've played Close to 100 hours in BG3, but I can't remember any of the songs used.
The BG3 theme song was nice, but maybe I haven't spend enough time in the main menu to appreciate it.
BG3 music it not bad, but for me it seems to have more generic music that never hit me as hard as the music of this game.
Best game they ever made....
👀
There is a manual. Just like in the good old days :)
Nice, still have it 👌🏻
Wolf you should try Kingdom Come: Deliverance
One of my favorite games of all time
i don't have the DEV's cut , what's the difference?
Isn't the Dragon Knight Saga the newest edition of Divinity II?
I remember was too short for me
I'm so bad at this game 😂 I don't now why but the combat mechanics feels unnecessarily hard for me. Played it pretty far when I was younger but I didn't finished it. It's pretty deep, game mechanic wise.
Wdym, left click is all you need to know to beat this game
I remember when i first played this thought it was terrible few months later gave it a second chance to this day still play it one of my favorite rpgs of all time
Also due to the limitations in the hard ware in 2009 larian had to remove all wild life except rabbits and chickens.... If you get to a certain amount of rabbits killed you get a reward.... However there's only enough in the world to get it
Also, did you see what those bunnies were looking at you? They were asking for it.
🤣
I kinda thought every divinity game before Original sin was considered trash tier.
(personally I don't like any divinity game, Love what they did with bg3, but DOS and DOS 2 really didn't click for me at all)
R u still continuing? there's bunnies to be killed.
