    I’ve owned numerous Yamaha motorbikes over the years and for the last five years I’ve been driving Yamaha outboards - that is a supremely impressive device. If it assists new boaters in the terrors of “in marina” docking it will be a godsend

    Seems they have given the 275 joystick functionality, so why not get rid of all the buttons and just give it a joystick?

    • @BillWalkerSD
      @BillWalkerSD Před 2 lety

      It looks like it has one, but she didn't mention it.

      @@BillWalkerSD there is one on the right of the helm, but that is to control the screen, or at least it was on the SD.

      That's what I was thinking. I wonder if there are some patents in the way.

      @@rtbinc2273 Hinckley has been putting joystick controllers on jet boats since the nineties, and from what I can see, they pretty much have it nailed down in terms of functionality and ease of use. Have to wonder why, in this case anyway, one would want to reinvent the wheel in favour of going with something that works so well.

      @@rtbinc2273no patent issues. Yamaha owns the Helm Master name and joystick technology and they have joysticks on some of the FSH series jet boats.

    Wow the future of boating..

    There appears to be a joystick on the console to the right of wheel. If so, it seems like most of these functions could be more easily and intuitively performed with the joystick. And of course, it's more "standard", becoming more and more common in today's boats.

    • @BillWalkerSD

      Or is that joystick a remote controller for the touchscreen?

    • @jakeringer3153
      @jakeringer3153 Před 2 lety

      It's a controller for the touchscreen.
      But I do agree, implementing these features in a new version of their joystick would be much better than all of those steering wheel paddles and buttons!

    wish they add that drive to the fsh models.

    This is really cool and ergonomic !

  • @curtis-thebicentennialist1776

    3 observations:
    1. By the time I learn the functions and features, they'll be obsolete.
    2. Unless this boat comes with a min 10 yr stem to stern warranty, I'll need 2nd mortgage on my home in order to afford an electrical engineer for repairs.
    3. Nice boat.

    This boat seems nice and unaffected by Yamahas recent lack of quality control

    If I was in the market, I think I’d keep walking. What does this do that a joystick can’t? It adds a lot of complexity in an unforgiving environment. Beyond that, too many buttons…it looks like an engineer designed this without input from users.

  • @floridaoutdooradventures8981

    Too many gadgets on a boat always make me nervous! That means many things that can go wrong and needless to say "anything" with a word "Marine" in it will cost you FORTUNE to get it fixed!!!
