I have both the last gen 981 Boxster S and the current non S 718 Boxster. While the sound from the 718 lacks the finesse and passion of the six, the performance of the new turbo four is just about as quick if not quicker than the 315hp 981 S with 15 less horses! Very impressive indeed

I have a 718 boxster gts. It sounds deep, throaty and very turbo-ish. Very unique and mechanical sounding. Almost “old school”
To get that kind of power (365 hp) out of 2.5 L 4 cyl.....is astounding

365hp from a 2.5L turbo Flat 4, who cares how it sounds. That thing is a like a vacuum on the track!
25 laps in one day at the Ring and no brake fade. slow laps 8:29 fastest. 718 Boxster S. great car.
I hope to someday ship my 718 Boxster GTS to Germany so that I can do laps at the ring too! I've old driven it in simulation on Playstation 4 in a RUF 3400S. I've done hundreds if not thousands of laps on the ring, only in simulation. Someday I will ship it over and probably move from the US to Germany if I can figure out how.

Yes except that with the ZO6 you get cheap build instability at high speed and laughed at among true sports car owners.
Even though it's slightly slower, the 981 Boxter is MUCH better. Nothing beats the flat 6 engine note.
I totally agree if you are referring to the sound. I owned a 981S and I loved it but ended up trading it. I think the current GTS is a good car with more low end grunt.

3.7 holly crap! I’m a buyer for a used GTS minus the turbo lag. They need stop being cheap and give us a twin scroll unit.

amazing! 0-60 times in the high 3s' is no longer. the domain of supercars anymore, they've moved into the 2s...its becoming more and more common to see cars for mere mortals in the 3 sec range...Says the guy driving a 24yr old probe gt that can barely do in the 7s

It's amazing the nonsense that has been promulgated about the sound of this car. Vapid reviewers like Chris Harris and Henry Catchpole have brainwashed uninformed viewers into thinking this car doesn't deliver the goods because the of the "sound". It's clear to me these reviewers who go on about the "soul" of the car have run out of witty things to say and fall back on trite cliches. That's the problem with reviewers like CH and HC who think they, personally, should be the center of attention rather than the car.
Interestingly, every time I take my 718 GTS to a PCA event, I get the same comments. "Hey that car sounds good, what did you do to the exhaust". My car has stock exhaust and everybody is preconditioned to hate it but usually likes it. It always results in a good laugh about stupid reviews.

I've owned two air cooled 911 and a 987.1CS. I love the way my 718 Boxster GTS sounds, looks and especially the way it drives. I don't like the way way the people that review this car sound. I think the people that review these cars sound like talking garbage cans full of homeless peoples trash. Guess I'll just mute the videos from now on. I drive a Freightliner with a Detroit Engine all day and night 6 days a week so that I can drive my 718 GTS one day a week. I know what a tractor sounds like. I've lived in multiple country clubs on the golf courses in California. I know what lawnmowers sound like. I've owned 3 previous Porsches, two air cooled 911s and a 987.1CS. My current Porsche is my 4th and is a 2018 718 Boxster GTS. I know what Porsches sound like. I've watched multiple videos about the 718 and now I know what class less garbage mouths sound like too.

For that much money, I'd want an engine that doesn't sound like a farting tractor. Puts up great numbers though if that's your thing

Fast as HECK for a 4 cylinder but good god that exhaust sound is just embarrassing. I'd take the 981 over this any day.
The 981 sounds awesome no doubt, but has no torque. I owned a 981, now have a 718 gts. The 718 is better in every way. Sound is all about preference. I like the sound of a whooshing turbo.

It’s a hugely faster and better car, especially the new engine. It’s bloody fast and effortless, quieter too. I’ve just upgraded and I’m sold.
Not when you’re driving it, it doesn’t. Just barely audible and with tremendous and effortless urge. The 718 is the best looking Boxster and the best yet. I’ve just upgraded.
A turbo Beetle does all of that for a lot less. Waste of money.
CAN'T you find anyone to take over for GRANDPA?? HE IS SO ANNOYING to listen to AND WE ALL KNOW HE is not doing the driving. I cringe every time he appears and talks throughout your videos.
