When a panel “Resists” a bullet, it actually stops the bullet within the layers of fiberglass. The bullet compresses and imbeds within the panel. At ArmorCore they say the panels “absorb & defeat” the energy of the bullet. Each layer steals a little more energy from the bullet as it passes through the panel. That energy transfer de-laminates the panel & stops the bullet.
The point of intruder deterrence - The idea is to create a safe haven within the home in case an intruder breaks in. The idea is NOT to create a “bomb shelter”-type room for extended use, so the room doesn’t have to be large to be safe. The walls, door & ceiling of the room are reinforced to resist any forcible attempt to break into that safe room. The room will be wired for a phone line to notify authorities of an intrusion.
Deterrence Material - The walls of the room are lined with heavy gauge Steel Mesh. The FBI & ATF both use this mesh for holding cells and as a safety feature within the office walls to protect law-enforcement officials in their field offices and headquarters. The door to the room is reinforced with steel frame plates. The door has dead bolts like you’ll find on an exterior door. The door itself is not specially built. Builders or consumers choose a standard door (steel-faced exterior door or solid-core wooden interior door) and the safe room contractor fits the steel frame reinforcement on the frame around that door.
Installation - Steel mesh is attached to the wall studs; drywall will cover the mesh. We have B-Roll of the installation process. They’ve installed the steel mesh with diamond-shaped fasteners driven into wall studs at close intervals to further stiffen the steel mesh
Next Step - After the steel mesh is installed, but before drywall goes up, we’ll install bullet-resistant fiberglass for further protection for the family against violent intrusion. - Jak na to + styl
Nice video showing options that are available. This is an emergency room . It's a room to hide in while waiting for the police or the calvary to arrive. It's not in a bad neighborhood. I'm sure it's in a posh neighborhood. Once the crooks are inside the house, there are numerous ruses to use to get inside a home. This room is a last resort. The steel mesh is a Faraday cage. It may interfere with cell signal. I would make sure there is either an exterior antenna or a communication device once locked inside. Nice video but I know it was very pricey for the bullet resistant material. A custom vest is over $ 1k$. I would have used a different design and material but nice.
It may be weird but this is how I think and I appreciate this video👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Its 2024 and 2023 was insane... Protecting ones family and ones self should be a priority no matter the environment..
AWESOME!
Uh, that's friggin great.
Sounds like the house is in a rough neighborhood! Does the steel mesh prevent cell phones from working in the room? It seems like it might act as a Faraday cage.
I agree. Hoodlooms(?) live in that area. Average of 5 die every week. They should also provide a garage for a tank.
That’s what I was thinking.
Being on the second story, is the floor protected in any way?
The expanded steel mesh is what grade?
when did this episode air?
How would your construction (cost) compare to just a concrete structure?
That material he just showed you is OUTTA SIGHT according to my Bf that has called we poured 1 foot thick walls with 2 custom doors filled with concrete and lots of fiber mesh it was my Bfs idea and he has done some testing on 1 foot thick poured walls he will upload it to his channel once he gets editing software.
@@usmcusmc6251did you buddy upload the video?
March he said he is welding outta town.@@En1gma2u
1/2inch of abrasion resistant steel would stop api 50bmg and everything else 😂i mean if your going for panic/safe room dont skimp on protection wide open room 1/2 inch ar steel with 2 feet of helix steel cement on top of that nbc air system make a small living quarters think 2bedroom one bathroom bunch of bunk beds and escape tunnel
Wouldn’t a sledgehammer make fairly easy door breach due to the fact it is not a true vault door?
What is the company called again 1:59 ? Thanks
Armorcore.
Darn nice, until you see that they mounted the hinges to be outward swinging. I hope that the intruders only brought guns and not a battery-operated Sawzall with a metal cutting blade or two. :(
Obviously you would install bolts on the hinge side too to secure the door from inside, duhh
@@luisazpurua1 I doubt that is the intent, otherwise, why not make a big deal about putting a metal plate on the hinge side? Duhh.
If you need this in your house that's a sign you're building in the wrong neighborhood. Living somewhere where armed burglaries don't happen is an infinitely more effective defence than an armored room in your house.
It's more useful and adds more value to the property than having a gun safe.
I don’t know if you know this, but criminals go for nice houses.
