I try out the slightly, delightfully pink denim from Momotaro, the denim company named for a demon-fighting peach baby. See how these jeans balance Japanese hairiness with Western glossiness.
These are the G015-MZ jeans, made with thicker thighs for folks who squat.
    00:30 The Momotaro brand
    01:37 The G015-MZ Denim

    06:11 Fit & Sizing
    08:03 Price
    08:41 Pros
    09:32 Cons
    DENIM
    14.7oz thick
    Zimbabwe cotton
    Somewhat glossy
    Very visible white weft
The company is veyr proud of the fact that their cotton is hand cut in Zimbabwe, because hand cutting is meant to minimize damage to the thread and keep out plant matter and impurities. Zimbabwe cotton is known for being very white, flexible, and easy to dye.
    DETAILS
    Zipper fly
Adorned with peach and demon motifs
    20 types of threads used
    Pink selvedge ID
These jeans are absolutely covered in peaches: the buttons, the rivets, the waistpatch, the inside of the yoke, even the inside of the flannel pocket bags.
The most distinctive thing about these jeans, though, is the pink selvedge ID and inseam: you get pink running all the way up the inside of the leg, which I absolutely love.
    CARE
    Wash separately from other clothes
    Wash inside out
    Famously slow to fade
    FIT & SIZING
Okayama Denim calls this a "lifter's cut"
    Bigger thighs, larger glutes
Order a size up from your normal waist
    Not a very high rise
    PROS
    Under $250
    Handmade
    Very cool peach details
    Sturdy, secure stitching
14.7oz can be warn in warmer weather
    CONS
    Synthetic indigo
    Slow to fade
    Very clean, not fuzzy/slubby
Pink stitching might turn off some people

Thanks for the pronouncement. Been wondering how to pronounce Momotaro. People ask me who makes my jeans and I sort of mumble and dribble a bit. Glad to hear they stretch, mine are also tight. Although, there’s a lady on CZcams who splashes cold water on the area she wants to stretch whilst wearing jeans. I only tried this yesterday so don’t ask how it went.

2015 year . that's a little better than their mass production. This falls far short of Japanese denim.
I would prefer Japanese for this price.
there are also raw denim jeans from china.
can be purchased for $60-$80.very close to Japanese denim.Japanese denim can be very different.for example SD-1755 and momotaro 070115 oz are very different.

@@14s0cc3r14 I understand washing jeans too often is not ideal. Wearing them 3-4 times a week and going 3 weeks straight without washing is typically my limit. Over 50 wears without washing sounds a little extreme to me lol!

      @Stridewise  Před 4 lety +1

@@yeh-ernpoh7511 I know what you mean but it's very common in the raw/selvedge denim world. I wouldn't recommend it for regular crappy Levi's but for thick jeans with natural indigo etc etc I think it's no big deal to wear without washing for a while. That said, I'm not as crazy about unwashed jeans as a lot of guys who literally wash them once a year if that. If they feel musty I'll just wash 'em.

Impossible order the right size on the net. They answer me that every pair of jeans are done buy hand and so they can change in waist size 2 or 3 cm. In my opinion is a bullshit. Done with hand not means done bad or in a not precision style. The size is size and measure is a measure. so is not possible order a waist size of 92.8 cm and recive a pair of jeans with waist size 90cm.
Probably Momotaro is a great denim jeans in cotton but the measure of the same size is always different, incredible for their price.

At over a thousand dollars per pair, you are purchasing art work, because those jeans will not hold up any longer than any other brand of denim jeans. I just watched a video of their factory, and why CZcams has suggested I also watch your video because of their algorithms. In today's mechanized world hand looming material to make jeans is asinine. This is so typical of Japanese building a brand, so they can charge very exorbitant prices for their goods they produce. Hand making anything in this day and age can be considered ART WORK !!!

Most jeans nowadays last a long time, as long as it's not too low end. You have Gap, Levi's, diesel and they all can last a long time. If you are buying it, you are buying for the art or the brand.
