South Padre Island

Hotels, restaurants, shopping, fishing, Dolphin watching, parasailing, Schlitterbaun and the Sea Turtle rescue center only scratch the surface of what South Padre has to offer visitors. The beach is filled with families and young people building sandcastles and playing in the surf.
The 2-1/2 mile long Queen Isabella Memorial Bridge connects South Padre Island to Port Isabel and the great State of Texas. The 34 mile island claims 5,000 year round residents and over 1million visitors each year. Southwest Airlines has multiple daily flights into Harlingen, only an hour's drive. Other major airlines fly into Brownsville and Harlingen.
The fall and winter months are great seasons to visit the island. The number of tourists have dwindled, the weather is mild and the merchants are thrilled to see you. Relax and take life easy.

i love the island its a great place there is even horse rides where u can ride horses on the beach there are a whole lot to do there and there are fireworks on the island EVERY FRIDAY

I'm Half English and half German cus of my mum and by law Mexican and i think I'm the only English family ever to go to South Padre Island my Grandparents who lived in Monterey Mexico owned a condo in Ocean Vista Towers great memories as a child I can't wait to go back soon I haven't been back since I was 13! It will be such s nostalgic moment for me.

The go karts are directly in front of the bungee jump towers. On South Padre Drive, look for the tall, white towers. the go karts are directly in front of them.

Hey, who here remembers when Schliterbaun used to be “Jeremiah’s” in South Padre? I remember “Rovan’s” donuts, they had the best damn blue berry cake donuts! Let’s hear it for old school Padre!

The Schlitterbaun is on South Padre Island (from Brownsville - not Corpus Christi) If you are coming off the bridge, at the first light (the main road), turn right. The Schlitterbaun will be on your left. When I was there, they were building a new hotel in conjunction with the Schlitterbaun.

Dee Dickerson This would be a great place to live. I'd pick Homestead, Florida over it only cause it's 10 degrees warmer in Homestead during the winter months. It does seem similar to South Florida.
