The "50's" reference in the title somewhat contradicted by the "mid-60's" referred to in the video! I remember the black and white TV Saturday afternoon Grandstand Scrambles from my teenage days and all of those great riders - Smith, Vickers, Eastwood etc. I was so inspired that I took my BSA Bantam to Canada Heights which was just down the road, to attempt to emulate my heroes. Got covered in mud and seized the engine! Always loved Murray Walker's commentaries RIP.
In 64 I was a fourteen year old marshalling for the Derby Pathfinder club ,the fourstrokes were great to watch Matchless, Bsa triumph twins ,I hated the sound of the twostrokes, but they were the way ahead and when I started scrambling myself it was a AJS stormer 250 that was my choice because I couldn't afford a Husky
Most likely autumn 1964 , certainly no earlier as the 441 Victor was Jeff Smith's bike for that year. Dave Bickers won his championships in 1960 and '61 Really well put together footage.
I swear I recognised that commentary within seconds and throughout. I must have seen this on Grandstand as a kid. The mind is a wonderous thing, like a Greaves ?
@@jeremyatkinson4976 Oh and btw, when you actually brought up ADHD while it's still ''fresh''. I dont know about you, but you rather call a random comment ''ADHD''? Or is it actually you Jeremy that has ADHD or maybe something else? I mean you surely are a sad fuck if you ask me, just a random bloke with no content on your youtube channel and all alone. Nothing to show us cus your life sucks in general and you want to take it out on someone. So you're going around everyday judging people on youtube by their comments. That is sad Jeremy.
Pure nostalgia,I'm a big fan of off road stuff ,,not the show bikes in supercross,,got a health appetite for classic stuff on you tube,
These tracks are so much better than the over groomed tracks they race on these days. Great video, love it.
....these fellas are.....surprisingly quick on those short legged chunks of iron. Respect.
Dave Bickers was something else......SO FAST on the Greeves. Oh how I miss scrambling on the telly.
A truly great sport to watch. Cannot watch any modern motocross. All jumps and not much else
Indeed, the bikes spend more time in the air than they do on the ground.

I thought the same thing. Those bikes seemed to be from the 60's
i loved the 'old' canada heights in the 'scrambling' days before they got the earthmovers in. used to ride over from chelsfield.

Is that Murry walker
THIS AROUND 1963 /4
Love the bit at 7 minutes when they clear a fallen bike off the track with bikes hurtling towards them! Red flag? What’s that?
was that Farleigh Castle?
Класс! 👍 👍 👍
👏
🇧🇷🤠👍
If only we'd had HD back then, or even film of the even rather than the terrible TV pictures, but better than nowt.
it wasn't 'motocross scrambling' in the 50s it was SCRAMBLING - even in to the 1960s .............. sakes
Wrong decade. Early to mid 60's.
Location of race???
Canada Heights, Kent. Sidcup and District MCC? You can see the track from the M25, I seem to remember.
Canada heights I think.
Getting ran over by a 400 pound Triumph is not on my list of things I want to do.
Vic Eastwood must have been young ! ( 70's CCM)
