I have heard talk of a different rear brace too... the spring and damper rates are supposedly the same too. The steering software is different - as is the diff software, all of which I can imagine will help improve how the car drives! It was a bit of a rubbish situation with the reporting of the car, some journalists even said the car had adaptive dampers etc! Please let me know if you find out whether the car does actually have the rose jointing... from the images I have seen it did look the same and also I have been told by several people that the part numbers are same for the suspension arms and bushings etc! Another thing I almost forgot is that the wheels are slightly heavier than the originals - although I am not sure how much difference that it would make (I think it’s something like 0.5kg per corner)

    I have the same car and I believe you are using the M buttons on the steering wheel inefficiently. You stated in the video that all the comfort/efficient modes are set in your M1 button. However, these are the modes the car starts up in!! So effectively, all you have done is duplicate those settings into the M1 button. This robs you of the opportunity to exploit a whole new mix for the M1 button, thereby giving you a total of 3 and not just the 2 settings you currently have. Hope this makes sense!!!!

      Not quite Chris!
      The car is started up in "sport" steering and so to get into comfort i have to hit the steering button three times to get into comfort. So i've saved myself two button pushes!
      Your right though - had Petrol Heads been happening i would have had a "full off mode" and a mix ready for the driving there as an example.
      So i see your point - this set up just works for me due to the "daily driver" element.

      Car Mad Dad Thanks for pointing that out. The engine and trans modes are obvious from the sound and display respectively but, the steering not so!

    • @nessuno5403
      @nessuno5403 Před 4 lety +1

      At start-up, the default is SPORT. Which you return to, by re-tapping M1 or M2. So having either one in Efficient is logical (and the other should be dedicated to Sport+).

    The odd thing is it has no rose jointing and all the part numbers appear to be the same as the M2. Think the rose jointing came from a badly or dishonestly translated press pack.

      Someone else has mentioned this too Jonathan. And on further research this looks to be the case. I don’t know what they’ve done in that case but the ride is far more compliant regardless... I’m just not sure how they’ve done it 🤔... Cheers for the view and comment

    • @JonathanTyas
      @JonathanTyas Před 4 lety +1

      Car Mad Dad Maybe it’s that extra 50 kilos. The extra weight would have the effect of making it seem a bit softer and more compliant. I once heard of somebody fitting softer springs to the original and stiffer roll bars and said it improved it no end.

      Car Mad Dad I wonder if they have done away with the rubber body mounts on the rear subframe, they did that on an earlier M3 and the body cracked! If so hopefully they have learnt a few lessons since.

    I drove mine from Seattle to San Francisco and back a couple of months ago (about a 12 hour drive each way) and the stupid tiny fuel tank was pretty obnoxious. Easily my least favorite part of the car.

    Brilliant cars, brilliant engine BUT it’s not really fun when there is a possibility your car could end up in a ditch. This car is borderline dangerous in the wrong hands. If you want fun, you should
    go on a track. You want a car to be a stable and useable in ALL weather conditions , the m2 is not! hence why I sold mine and bought an rs3

      Have you tried the DCT in a modern M car? They are amazing! The engine is best sooted for the DCT transmission anyway. I had both manual and DCT and believe me, the DCT is far superior. Sunroof? Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can't configure a carbon roof on the M2 anyway, so why not get the Sunroof and enjoy the weather and sound?
