    My husband's nickname is Mr. Chin. He grew up in Jamaica. I noticed while there that everyone does refer to anyone of Asian descent as " Mr./Mrs. Chin." At first I thought it was rude but learned that it's not meant to be offensive. Jamaicans just love calling people everything but what their mama named them lol

      It’s a form of respect to acknowledge that you are of Asian descent. Idk why Jamaicans made that up but they did I think mostly because my people don’t speak their language

    My partner, an Indonesian, was called "Chino" when we were both working in Cuba. And regardless of what country we were working in at the moment everyone said "are you Chinese?" which makes sense since the global population of ethnic Chinese is so huge.

    To add on you dont even have to be Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai etc...ethnicity....it can just also be similar facial features like EA, even being black....One of my brother's nickname from birth to 35 years later is still Chiney Man😅.....He has a light complex and looked Chinese when he was born so yap...thats his Nickname...Jamaicans will just call you by how you look...literally..😂😂😂....
