  • Keeping up with ever-changing beauty standards isn't easy. With the help of modern technology and medication, people can drastically change their appearance - but not all of these methods are safe. Check out what our panelists at The 77 Percent Street Debate in Accra, Ghana had to say. Edith Kimani hosts.
77 percent of Africans are younger than 35. Africa's youth holds the key to shaping the continent’s future. On our platforms we share their stories, their dreams and their challenges. Are you part of the 77 percent? Join the debate here on CZcams, and on the following platforms:

That woman touched on something I think we as black people don't really grasp. Our desire to be anything but black looks absolutely ridiculous to every other race of people in the world, and then we want the world to respect us, not likely.

It doesn't look ridiculous to every other group. India is worse and my Asian coworkers are unanimous in saying the lighter you are the more beautiful your considered.

The younger girl with the glasses is clearly influenced by Feminism. And Feminism makes women feel entitled for the sake of a dull minded unnatural equality.
Ive been to Ghana and tbh I was shocked at how big the majority of the women were [seemingly]. They are constantly eating, and its starchy foods and they dont exercise 😢. 😮 The woman with the natural hair and white shirt is also pretty simple minded and naive in her Feminist attitudes. All civilizations practice artifice to enhance beauty.

At the 2.5 minute mark. The model was much more beautiful before the modification. I as a Decendent of Kidnapped Africans here in the divided states, I Love Black women. those people . ' white supremacists' have messed up the minds of Us in the divided states.
There is no excuse for My African Sisters and Brothers.
Put them out of the Motherland. I would give anything to be darker and live in African.
Please don't let the devil tell You that You are not good enough.
Some of this comment is falling on deaf ears.

As someone who worked in fashion I always thought it was strange to see those who are out of standards setting so called beauty standards for others. Learn to love yourself first folks.

That was so good! I loved this format! A suggestion: Could you put the attendees names (+socials) in the video description next time? Makes it faster to look up people and learn more.

At 71 years of age, I’ve yet to see any case where Black folk are accepted by western culture when we try to comply with some ridiculous western model. Altering ones skin color is mind boggling.

It's because of all those white jesus images and the worshipping of western ideals. There is weak mindedness and a lack of ancestral, racial pride being passed down to our children. We valorize images of jesus in front of our children more than we do our ancestors, and the psyches of our children mirror that. But on the other hand, most people would agree that the interviewer is objectively more attractive than the bleached model chick despite being darker. She is also objectively more attractive than the other short haired woman who is lighter. I strongly believe most would agree with the aforementioned judgements. I also believe that most african men would prefer the older pics of the bleached girl when her skin was shiny and dark. If im wrong im wrong.

I think it's probably impossible to change the definition of beauty since most of it is instinctive. People like what they like.

It beggar's belief that in Ghana Queen Bacadi's bleeched completion is conisdered standard beauty. Don't forget that every choice has consequence ultimatley. Growing up in Nigeria, I've seen women who heavily bleeched their skin and in the twilight of their life, their sking becomes dark looking and at that point they can no longer bleech and they look that way for the rest of their life. A good example of someone to look at in Nigeria right now who has heavily bleeched his skin and trying so hard to look like a woman is Bob Risky. You need to see his face without makeup.
