So very very helpful. Thank you. I've been searching high and low looking for this head unit in a gen3 Toyota Prius to no avail, since I want to put this in my wife's 2013 Prius 2. I kept coming across this tutorial and kept telling myself, "I don't need to learn how to install this into just any car! I need to see how this works in a Prius." Then I finally watched this video, and apparently it's the answer I've been looking for this entire time. 😂 Thank you so much for this. Sorry it took me a hot minute to get here.

@@alexsanchez9102 if your connected to the Car Play, by Bluetooth or anything, disconnect from Bluetooth because the CarPlay still functions after it’s been disconnected, after that’s done, make sure you have a connection running from the back of the radio on the top slot, but don’t connect it to your phone cuz it connects car play, you can reset the radio or just unhook the radio and when you put it back on it gives you the option to car play or mirror link
When it asks you what you want, it should show like the video in 14:00

What is the measurement from the top of the single din mount opening to the top of the screen when the screen is all the way down?

Power is much stronger sound quality is just a little better because I has a built in EQ but my speakers are the same.
I have this same radio in my 2006 Durango. I am currently having issues with the mic… I can hear ppl on my car speakers but they can’t hear me. Any suggestions on how to fix that?
Try using the external mic. Or change factory set.

I have a quick question, did you ever attempt to use the brown brake detect wire to watch video when parked? I wired mine up and it didn't work. I've tried everything I understand to do, best buy installer double checked everything for me and I have had zero luck with getting it to work.

For the steering wheel harness, where do I put the ground wire? Am I supposed to place it with the other power ground wire or somewhere else?
Yes. with the other ground wire
Can I ask a question with it in its highest setting, how far down does it sit from the bottom of the single din tray?
Roughly 1-1/4" with the screen at 90 degrees to the bracket. Tilting will change that slightly.
Can you change the clock from an analog style clock to a digital display?
I'm not sure. I have not figured that out if possible
I have got the plz 108 but my toutch screen is reverse plaes help me fix this
Try to reset the unit or go into factory set and see if it gives you the option to calibrate the screen

Question: Do you know exactly what extras I should buy in addition to the PLZ unit to go with my 2009 Sienna LE? I've already ordered the PLZ unit.
But .. regarding the steering wheel control unit, there are 3 options .. the unit itself, and then also with the Micro B connector and also a wiring harness unit.
And what other extras do I need to get to make this thing functional?

I know this video covered a vague installation that could apply to anyone's car. However, do you have the wiring diagram on hand for this specific Prius model you did? You did good by saving time and not including that in your video, but I could definitely use it. I'm about to do this outside in the insane heat, so the faster I can get it done, the better. I'm also about to install a rearview camera to my gen3 Prius 2 that did not come with a rearview camera. Running those lines is probably the first thing I'll try and tackle.
Also, I bought all this using your Amazon Affiliate links, except the AXXESS ASWC-1 since Amazon doesn't show it in stock or give any options. I had to go through eBay for that part alone.
Also, I am so lost at 7:52. It just kind of cut to a plug I’m supposed to connect the steering wheel control unit wires to, but without context as to which plug let alone how to ready the pins. It’s pretty matter of fact.
Will this work with amps and stuff cause my last andriod raidio didnt do nothing it was like having a tablet with loud distorted music.
Yes. There are jacks in the rear you can connect your external amp

Hi, thanks for the video. How fast is the Apple CarPlay connection to the phone when starting your vehicle! I recently had one and it took minimum two minutes and sometimes it wouldn’t even connect. Have you ran across any issues like this?
no more than 15 seconds

Hi, I bought this unit but the place I had install it can't get the steering wheel controls to work. Any ideas how to get it to work?
That all depends on many factors. Type of vehicle and correct SWC for vehicle if needed.

The 106 has a knob control in the center 108 is fully touch screen

Does this have a Screen Off mode for night driving? My pioneer has a "Display" button and music keeps playing while screen is off and a touch of the screen brings it back on.
No not really. The closes would be screen saver but it will show a clock. Still little bright.

Actually it does, on the main screen you will see a sun or moon, sun for day light settings moon for night light settings, if you click it they will change, it goes in the order of Sun, Moon and Screen Off, then touch anywhere brings it back. I was hoping this because i liked this feature also on my old pioneer for highway night driving.

Steering wheel control doesn’t need a module. It wires straight in. Go to settings and program

@lucasdutton4798 There is a steering wheel controller wire you have to connect. Then, follow the programming instructions. I think I had to select the action on the radio and then hold the steering wheel button

When you say the steering wheel control doesn't need a module, are you referring to the gen3 Prius specifically as demonstrated in this video? The AXXES steering wheel module is difficult to come by on Amazon at the moment, but I've found them on eBay. However, if I wouldn't need to order one, I'll avoid it the hassle.

How much is the lagging on android auto?, you showed it connected but did not run it.
Not really noticeable
It is to me. Sometimes pausing and playing the songs again it will get off sync, if you play a video at beginning it will play while the news in on for about 3 seconds. And Android auto always skips every ten minutes for a second, like you will be listening to music then stop then go again. It does really good getting rid of engine noise. I had a Kenwood hooked in same spot with bad engine noise, moved power wire, RCA cables everything, nothing worked so I got this radio and got rid of it with no issue. It's good but there are little things that stink about it
@@adamcalebchloe8760 try contacting their support. Maybe a quick firmware update may solve that problem.
How has this unit held up ?
Transferred to my friends car but still working great.
I have the MP-902W and it's basically the same unit. Actually works well so far. I did not need a module for steering wheel control on my 2009 Scion XB. Just a $10.00 harness from Amazon. Do you know how I can install my own photos for logo and/or screen saver/background? I know they offer to do a couple for you, but I want the ability to change them for anything I want easily. Thanks.
Yes you have to go to Factory set. There is a password which I dont know.
@@AutoSensation I contacted the company and they told me it is not user changeable. Here is what they said: "Sorry, friend. The system doesn't support user to do custom logo by themselves.The way that can help you with that is our software engineer help you replace the built-in logo picture and creat a firmware based on our new version with your logo."
That's a shame. I like to have the ability to change images when I want. Most new radios let you do this. I may have to return the unit.

Got PLZ 108 yesterday got it installed having issues with steering wheel controls, I reused my Access AX-TYAMP1-SWC that i had my old pioneer hooked too. I have reset the steering controls on the SWC to Metro but not picking it up on screen, some seem to pick up some don't. Going to retry to reprogram and try again in the morning. Also any one looking for a nice pocket that works with this same Metro dash kit for Prius get the Scosche GMT2049AB Double DIN & DIN+Pocket Dash Kit, its for a 1992-12 GM and Import Vehicles but the pocket works perfect with this, you need no other part of that kit and you will have to drill a hole for it to mount since none line up. I also mounted mine in the bottom din and put the pocket in the top din.@@AutoSensation
I had trouble getting my steering controls setup but got it working so far loving this for the Prius. I was Reusing my old Axxess AX-TYAMP1-SWC that i had on my Pioneer, initially i change it to Metro but had issues programming. Eventually did a full reset and setup for Metro OE but still had issues with the Prev & Next button, plug unit in PC and disabled the dual assign for buttons and then they worked too. I went with the din pocket from the Scosche GMT2049AB Double DIN & DIN+Pocket Dash Kit Compatible with Select 1992-12 GM and Import Vehicles Black as it fits perfectly with the Metro Prius Double Din and has the biggest whole for a pocket, note you will have to drill a hole to mount the pocket on the side since none line up with the pockets hole but the pin does line up with a hole on the Prius Metro dash kit. I also mounted mine in the bottom din with the pocket on the top. @@AutoSensation
Apparently if you want update support(or any support?) they force you to have a facebook account and contact them through that. Super irritated right now! Im not creating a facebook account for this car stereo. This company seems pretty unprofessional regarding this serious customer service issue.

Haven't really had to deal with them, product is good so far no problems.
Can you watch CZcams mirrored your phone?
Yes via USB and you have to download the mirroring app

@@danieele1223 When you connect to phone link mode and play CZcams Music....the car stereo sounds horrible with high pitch treble and zero bass! When you switch to radio 📻 mode..your car stock audio system sounds normal! The screen glitches a lot! Just terrible! Waste of time and money
@@tjmasterbarber2664 Yes it's not the best but it's affordable. You can try to adjust the Factory Settings to help with sound control. Password is 666999 by default. May or may not work.
